She inspired me to get off the couch and throw some gear in a pack/ book bag and get on a trail near my home Something I did whenever possible in my younger days . Up to doing a mile and a half loop 4 or 5 times every time I go out there now . Had back surgery , have bad hips and knees but just getting out there is worth the pain , lol .
I hope you're still making tracks Dennis. I recently hit 70. Within the past ten years, I have survived MRSA, open heart surgery, and a stroke, which, thank God, I came out on the positive side. And, on top of all that, I survived raising two daughters! Some months back, I found myself kinda in a dark place. Nothing serious actually, but I didn't like where I was. I've been active my whole life, then it seemed that I was ok to just say the heck with it. Toby Keith released a song titled, "Don't Let The Old Man In". I had never heard it before coming across the video on you tube. Curious, I gave it a listen. I would end up setting and listening to that song over and over. Just kept hitting replay. We had a good snow on the ground. That next morning, I dug out my snow-shoes, threw my stove and pot in my pack, coffee makings, and headed out. I didn't go far. Maybe a couple miles. Found a spot to make coffee, set on a log as I drank it, and realized that I had been letting the old man in. I'm proud for you. It's not about the miles. It's about being out there. Stay strong man. I have attached the link to the video. ua-cam.com/video/N0gzHu786yo/v-deo.html
I followed Starburst from the beginning, I think the mom in me was worried and happy at the same time seeing this beautiful young lady conquer fears and sometimes pain, solo hiking isn’t easy, and she did it. I’m so proud of her. Hopefully she’ll go on new adventures and takes us along, to enjoy her journey just like she did last year.
... This video is very well done ,, enjoyed seeing the moments of the past and still can recall the feelings and experience shown then ... Followed the entire journey from start to finish and can really say ,,Wow ,, such strength and determination ... Where ever ,, What ever life has to offer ,,, LIVE IT !! ... Stay Safe ...
Great video. With an impeccable technique, it summarizes in a few minutes the vision and passion of the protagonist for the PCT. The fact that the protagonist is The Whimsical Woman facilitates the quality work and makes the final result very emotional. Thanks to both of them.
Beautifully put together, moving and inspirational. Had me in tears and brought back memories of my solo 7 day hike and my cry as l finished. Thanks for sharing your personal moments.
My great aunt and uncle did this trail in the 80's and wrote a small book about their travels. I always wanted to do the same, but modern Life got me. I'll live vicariously through you! Thank you!
Great job. I followed her from day 1 just searching UA-cam for thru hike videos. I was so drawn to her positivity, infectious smile, and persistence. Great recap.
Hi, just came here to say thanks for sharing your journey. I did the AT in 2010 and it was a private experience for me, one I never wanted to share with anyone else, so I think it’s really selfless for you to share your own raw moments. Typically UA-cam people love being in front of the camera, but I got the sense you turned it on even when it was uncomfortable. :)
Hi Dyana, thanks for this awesome video! I followed Starburst's thruhike and watched all of her videos. She's a great inspiration to me. Your movie is a wonderful compilation and I enjoyed watching it!
I am watching this and Part 2 for about the 10th time,. But now that I am watching the Tahoe Rim trail, I realize that you are Jennifers hiking partner! I love your documentary about ?Starburst and she was my absolute favorite Hiker!
I love this video and you are so so inspiring!!! Thank you so much for having such an incredible soul and energy!! I'm looking forward to do the PCT next year 🤩
Yo! I am one of the many that were inspired to hike the pct by Jen! I followed her journey from day 1 and often anxiously sat waiting for the next instalment of her vlog! Her raw and honest portrayal of her adventure was so moving and led me to make the decision to hike in 2020! I now put ever penny I can spare away toward my gear and adventure fund and spend all my time out hiking in the Canadian Rockies in preparation. Truly a powerful and inspirational figure in the thru-hiking community! So proud of you Starburst! Thanks for taking us all along with you on you adventure! Thank you Dyana for creating such a great quality video. Got me welling up ;)
Thank you so much for following my journey and being an amazing supporter. I wish you the absolute best with your thru-hike. It is going to be so incredible, just you wait!!
YOUR BACK!!! Wahooo....looking forward to following your new adventures. Stay safe out there....NO Mountain Lions or troublesome bears. LOL Starburst....
Nice and you should know and feel free because you did it alone and that is the experience knowing thy self or making that beginning journey as it is said it begins with the first step!
Really enjoying the variety to your channel. Great short documentary on an amazing young woman! I too followed her journey and loved her heartfelt commentary. Might you 2 hit the trail together?
Hi Dyana, I saw a fair amount of Strawberries PCT hike but more recently I saw yalls TRT hike. I guess that led to THIS video coming up in my suggestions. YOU are a true professional in your editing and presentation. I loved this. It was edited to really draw you into the emotion of the journey in such a short time. I'm definitely going to have to subscribe and start watching your creations. Great job girlie. P.S. You were hilarious in TRT series.
@@dyanacarmella1379 great video, Dayna! You summarized Jennifer’s journey so beautifully! I had watched and waited for her episodes back then. She always such an inspiring and positive attitude. Brings a smile to my face to see this!

Watched this for the 2nd time, really an excellent short documentary. I too followed the PCT journey start to finish and really didn't want to see your journey end. Part one is great and you arrive at the finish line in Canada, what can we possibly expect in part two?

Beate Wolpert maybe they went to some significant points on the trail for this video and took some drone shots there. I think even a little drone with 200-400g would be way to heavy to carry the whole trail. I think she just had a little camera or cellphone camera to film with. If I am wrong and she carried a drone in her backpack the whole time that would just be insane :o Awesome video btw I am dreaming of hiking the PCT one day.

What kind of perverse, negative person would dislike this video. this is probably the most positive and uplifting thing on UA-cam
because thousands of people do the PCT every year and no one makes a sob story out of it like she does

My new favorite Hiker, along with Dixie, and Darwin! Absolutely love the scenery along with the emotional journey! Thank you Miss Starburst.

Great! I hiked the PCT from Canada down to California. Came from ALASKA, to do so. Was so amazing! Hope you love it.
Lol I left the lower 48s for ALASKA. It's the last frontier. Wildlife, glaciers, Nation Parks. Well, now I'm a underwater welder in Ketchikan.
@Em Traveler I cherish you more. Incredible! Never met a UA-cam woman, born in Alaska. Lol, were you born SEARCH hospital? View of twin lakes? Aha.
