That's really admirable patience. There are DMs that would just talk over the party while they're having fun so the story gets moved.
I know that everyone’s clowning on Fabian for not being as cool this season or whatever but I mean come on, he’s 16 he was never actually cool, he just wasn’t as comfortable until now, I don’t know if Lou intended to do this but it’s honestly good character development, he’s the master at making in-character choices as Fabian and the fact that he’s a little different this season means he’s more comfortable being goofy and emotional and exited with his friends like any teenager, he was just putting on a act before, he’s still an absolute badass in battle and that’s what counts right?
I agree, especially since he didn’t really kill his dad because he wanted to- he goes out of his way to say “my father wouldn’t have wanted me to help him.” I think him being more himself after his dad’s talk with him is super wonderful.
@@gab3963 I think that’s it’s awesome that there’s opportunity for him to just be a kid and just more himself like you said, all of these kids are complete badass’s in their own right but they’re still just awkward teens
@@gab3963 I think that Fabians relationship with his father is a great link between Fabian’s identity and the world around him, since themes of having your entire life planned out for you and adulthood go hand in hand, which is what Bill kinda represented for him, but since he’s not an active part in Fabians life now he has room to make what he wants of it, but it doesn’t take away all the tension of living up to him. Hence why he’s more comfortable with his friends and the world around him but he’s still got some walls up, and he’s still just a bit unsure of himself even if it doesn’t always show.
I love that the Fae language is just Irish, since that's where faerie lore began. Brennan, I wholeheartedly appreciate the effort you put into the details of everything!
That makes me wonder, could dwarves and fae have some sort of historical/linguistic connection in this world? The dwarven teens all had Scottish accents. (Fig's Dr. Dreamboat doesn't though...)
@@stan_nonna I always thought dwarves were more Norse and Viking-like..which I guess can encompass Scottish. But for a shake up would prefer a scandi language rather than another Gaelic language.
yeah, i'm extremely happy to see someone actually have the fairies speak Gaelic instead of them speaking English or in weird whispers like they usually do in shows and movies, it just makes more sense.
Tbf quite a lot of magical creatures in legend come from here in Ireland; Scotland, England and Wales but yeah specifically fae. Fairies and fae creatures do appear in other mythologies but the fairies and fae in modern fiction are mostly based off of Celtic mythology, specifically Irish and Cornish Pixies and Wisps, so it's always nice to see the homage.
Tolkien's Dwarvish language was in the Hebraic tree (for all the frequent harsh consonants). While Gaelic is often used for Fae/Elves, Tolkien created a proto-language for it 9Valarin, the language of the gods) and 15 descended languages. Gaelic is cool, though. ;)
I love that Jawbone's response to Gilear and Sandra-Lynne possibly having a thing isn't like "It's chill, I'm Poly" or anything like that. Just straight up "I'm poly!"
It's such a relatable response for me. I was cheated on and actually said the same thing the same way. (still sucks though, she didn't know) I wish I had Jawbone to talk to. Or shit, I wish I had Brennan to talk to, but an actual poly person would be better I think.
I really love that Brennan customizes the information that the group gets on the Nightmare King according to who is asking. Like, Riz has a more detective skillset so his info is more related to his investigations vs. Adaine getting the more academic information.
"Two hundred and twenty-five immaculately conceived babies grew up and went to Rock Heaven! I don't know how much clearer I can be!" absolutely bowled me over. So glad we get more of Aguefort's unhinged energy this season.
Didn't think we needed, um my bedtime prayers consisted of, "God bless my mom, my kids, my husband, my students, and all the politicians who have not yet sold their souls to the devil....and please inspire Brennan Lee Mulligan to bring back fantasy high." lol just kidding I don't pray, but I'm so happy this came back.

jawbone doing harm reduction counseling for drug addicts that show up to his apartement at 3am is the best bit of casual backstory brennan has ever improvd
brennan: makes it very clear that Zelda (whose family is from the woods and a fucking powerhouse of a barbarian) is sad that gorgug goes away on a trip. hinting that she should go and she isnt going with them. the group: "Who do we take with us?"
To be fair, Zelda said she and her party were going to be adventuring in the Red Wastes, so she probably wasn't available. She does seem to be the Maidens' Gorgug, so going without her would be massively handicapping them.
I love Zelda way too much for this to be overlooked. I want to see this shy metal satyr girl rage!! Also her and Gorgug are so incredibly cute together, I cant get enough of them :)
I love how sometimes DMs might seem like they’re ignoring things to get to the plot, but Brendan Mulligan not only doesn’t do that, but has one character ( Arthur Aguefort) who is completely one character for glossing over life of death things for the drama of a quest.

Riz would be the lancer, leader's best friend and balanced him out. Adaine is the smart guy, obviously. I think Gorgug and Fig would probably share the role of big guy, kinda dumb often sweet WILL kick your ass. And I think Kristen would fulfill the role of "the chick" or the heart, also kinda dumb and very sweet but has NO muscle whatsoever and often plays support roles. Riz being legitimately hurt by Fabian not giving him a clue and gathering information without him is amazing Riz: that's....like.....the only thing im good at 🥺
I was just waiting during the last episode of season 1 for him to yell "I AM FABIAN SEACASTER, SON OF BILL SEACASTER, THE MOST DANGEROUS PIRATE TO EVER SAIL THE SEAS!" This would have made the season will Fabian refering to his father as a "privateer," and his father being disappointed in him, and him and his father bonding just before Fabian runs him through. It would have been amazing and I wish it happened.
I'm in tears. I can feel Galear sadness through the screen but it's just so funny I can't help but laugh. He went from lunch lad to Vice principle which took a couple months almost the whole year.
True, he does cool shit, he tried to act really cool when the father was around but not anymore plus he's also in love now
@@luminatron Exactly! Although this is more of an infatuation than an in love situation, that’s just how it be for teenagers

Gaelic is cool, though. ;)

brennan: makes it very clear that Zelda (whose family is from the woods and a fucking powerhouse of a barbarian) is sad that gorgug goes away on a trip. hinting that she should go and she isnt going with them.
the group: "Who do we take with us?"

If we're looking at the 5 man band trope (one role would have to be double cast but FUN THOUGHT EXPERIMENT!) Fabian would probably be the leader, stubborn, strong, and prideful. Riz would be the lancer, leader's best friend and balanced him out. Adaine is the smart guy, obviously. I think Gorgug and Fig would probably share the role of big guy, kinda dumb often sweet WILL kick your ass.
