    Wayne is a god damn legend. I would urge all the viewers here to certainly buy his albums, but also check out the live recordings he's made with Keith Carlock and Tim Lefebvre - this may well be the most innovative and dynamic sounding trio of this millennium. Thank you for featuring a true legend and one of the most underrated guitar players of all time here. I could listen to Wayne talk for hours!

      His live recordings as well as bootlegs of his concerts, I would add. There are wonderful bootlegs out there with Carlock and Lefebvre that present Wayne Krantz at his best. A true improviser and a contemporary pioneer.

      I remember seeing Carlock, Krantz and Lefebvre at 55 Bar in NYC years ago, right up close, just a few feet away from them as I nursed Guinness after Guinness... I have to honestly say it was the most revolutionary musical moment I have ever witnessed. Beyond brilliant.

    I can't imagine a more suitable host; Dweezil has the chops & the credibility, and always seems to ask the right kind of questions.
    Like others, though, each installment seems to be too short. I'd like to see these last 20 minutes or more, because the conversations don't ever seem complete, like they haven't run their natural course. I haven't seem one that I didn't enjoy

    I heard Wayne's first album in 1990 and have been a fan ever since. Such a unique and rhythmic musician and composer. If you play guitar and not familiar with Wayne there is a huge hole in your listening you need to fill ASAP!

    My favorite two players! When I took a Dweezilla lesson from DZ, he recommended Krantz's book, " An Improviser's OS. " That book has been a MAJOR eye opener for me.

  • @Mrius86
    @Mrius86 6 років тому +2

    Here's how cool Wayne really is:
    A few years ago I went to his website and bought his book "An Improviser's OS" and was totally amazed at how little I knew about improvising and the guitar's complexity. So I sat down and worked on it a lot. Then put it down. Then took it up again. Read the book several times, jumped from here to there. Slow progress. I wanted to make a video series on the book with some practical examples. I sent Wayne an e-mail and asked if it was okay to use his book in a video series and he said yes! I was thrilled and started making videos right away. As of August 2018 I'm on part 7, ready to dig deeper into modes and subgroups, really theoretical but very useful. I was at a clinic with Wayne once here in Norway and got to ask a question. What was most awesome about that clinic was that we got to watch him actually practice the guitar. He was really searching for the right notes and it wasn't like scripted beforehand or anything. That was an incredible experience to me. The second edition of the book is ready in September 2018 according to his website and I think I will buy that one as well.

    I've been watching the series with Dweezil. Wayne Krantz (BTW, whom I'd not heard of before) is sooooo on top of his discipline it's fun to watch Dweezil struggle to keep up (playing the role of student).

      But on second viewing I see where Dweezil is enjoying the challenge. It's like with all of us, the balance between the fun and satisfaction of trying to keep up with something new, and the self-defeat of "I'm not sure I'm ready for this." Ha!

    The magic of this video really starts at 4:40. This is the shit right here! I feel as though I finally found the answer to the question as to how this guy thinks. There's a 2010 version of The Goodbye Look that hit me so hard, I reached out to who I thought was the guitar player (Herrington) and he said "Wayne Krantz" and that was the first time I heard his name. This explains that and for me, puts Os and Os2 as well as the latest book into perspective in a big way. That and some visionary videos by Mitch Chmara whom I studied with for a couple of years but I digress. This video really cleared some things up in my thinking. Wayne is the GOAT! Well, one of them and there's a couple out there for sure ;)
