Nicely done! A number of good upgrades…Sony listened! 46 minutes @room temperature before it shuts down at 4K 24 is likely fine; for serious video get the fx30. Lots of folks will complain about the micro HD port though, but small camera makes that tough.

Great review. It has a lot of advantages over my a6500 which cost around $1400 5-6 years ago. I might consider the a6700 but I really want to see some more reviews and comparisons with photo and video quality to the a6500. Good price point, but still $1400 is a lot of money for a camera hobbyist.
Yeah, as a mostly-stills, some-short-video shooter this is my upgrade path from a 6300 + APC lenses. I was afraid that I'd have to go full-frame and didn't want to deal with the weight and cost of the lenses. Really liking the ergonomics (especially the articulated screen, also the grip and front wheel), the amazing autofocus, the improved image quality and tonal range, and having IBIS at all, which the 6300 doesn't. I'd love to hear more about a feature barely mentioned in some sites, anti-flicker. Has Sony solved the e-shutter/LED lighting conflict? That would be huge for shooting stage/concerts, my main thing. One thing, though - Sony PLEASE send us an APC f/2.8 medium tele with converters, like Fujifilm has in its 50-140!
Definitely would love to see that comparison between this the XS20 and the R7. I have an R7 myself and I really love it but I gotta say the lens situation really is a big negative on that camera. Maybe this might get me to jump ship

Thanks for the review guys, 'twas very helpful. I've been looking to upgrade from my A6400. The bigger battery, front dial, and better guts are all attractive features. The new side-only flip screen might be a deal-breaker, however. I have taken so many photos looking down at my back-flip screen; I just cannot imagine how that could work with the screen sticking out the side.

Excellent review PP! Compact body style with EVF + 5-axis stabilized sensor + plenty of lenses + 10-bit recording at up to 4K60!!!! Excellent camera but I still love the look of my Fuji X-T. Great job Chris and Jordan.
Fuji is all look, much less substance. Autofocus is behind the competitors, lenses are not up to par on wide angle and telephoto end, worst stabilization in video, etc. 40 megapixel Fuji models are a trap, not only is storage annoying but also most lenses cannot handle that pixel density. The X-s20 is the only Fuji model I would recommend to people and maybe a non price flipped x100v if you are lucky enough to find one. Oh and the Xt-4 if you get it used cheap.
@@anonymousl5150the lens not up to par? Idk what you’re looking at but the 16-55mm f2.8, 50-140mm f2.8, and 8-16mm f2.8 are all sharp and create stunning images.
I bought an a6000 on a whim years ago, when it was almost the first mirrorless camera you could get. Two years later, I got rid of all my beloved Nikon gear because I hadn't used it since I bought the a6k. Two years after *that* I bought an a7r2, making the a6k my backup body. I have plenty of E-mount glass now, so, guess who wants an a6700 now? :-)
So grateful you guys made the transition to PetaPixel. This is an excellent review too, and timely for me. I have had several apsc sony's. Starting with the a6000, my first sony. I upgraded to the 6500 and shot the hell out of it. I'm super happy with the a6600. All great cameras though. I'm also still shooting my RX100va. Glad to see this review and I may have to log onto the BH website for some GAS therapy.
That was not an "Excellent" review. More like a waste of time reiterate of what a $3k plus camera doesn't have. Sexy? That;s not even required in a beauty contest!! What a joke these two Pani/Fuji fans are.
What was the screen position during thermal test? Gerald Undone tested it and a6700 can record easily 2 hours without issue with screen flip out and threshold set to high.
Exactly the question I was asking myself. I mean there are so many ways to "gain" Time recording. I used m'y a6300 to record a show few days ago. Outdoor lwith a little ittle wind, screen outsider ans turned off (only evf ) and the battery door open. I could have record the first 30 minutes easily (the maximum Time recording on a6300) then I have changed the battery and could have finish the last 30 minutes if the show. All this in 4k 25 FPS
I’ve used 6000 series cameras for 7 years now, starting with the a6000 and then the a6500 which I’m still using semi-professionally. I keep planning to go full frame or even abandon ship for the s5iix. I might still, but I’ll probably buy this first and see how it does. Yes it’s not a huge step up in some areas but it looks like they’ve addressed almost every real complaint I had with the system
Did they FINALLY remember to put 30p 4k in "HEVC"? For some incredibly odd reason, they have skipped over this in HEVC and only allow it in h.264. Every newer camera this this oversight. Did Sony's programmers finally remember to add this on the A6700?
Excellent review of the Sony a6700 camera fellow!.. Interesting to see what time does for innovation and comments that seemed to have sparked their action.
Still sticking to a6000 many years later. The shutter gave up just before the warranty expired, so I set it to get repaired. They fixed it, but messed up the viewfinder in the process. Didn’t wanna be stuck waiting for months without a camera so stuck using the screen. Still, nothing from Sony has made me wanna upgrade. 16-55 F2.8 is truly amazing. Noticeable difference in color compared to third party lenses
Great raw photo/video capabilities. Improvements in handling. Let down by displays. The big zoom on the camera in this video makes it look like a unwieldy combo.
ok one thing.. if you know that you will record longer indoor, than u get a big usb3.0 batterie and the batterie-usbc kabel for NP-FZ100. this heat test would be interesting
Chris! The 24mp sensor wasn't QUITE that old! The a6300's sensor was distinct from the earlier one found in the a6000 and a77ii. You can tell because, shooting into the sun doesn't give the same lines from the PD array the a6000 was known for. Additionally, the a6500/6600 did have an AF-On button if you wanted, just not labeled as such. This body removes the useful dual-function toggle from that button as well, which is disappointing. I really like it on my a6500. Interesting they removed the micro USB/multi terminal port. I wonder what they'll do for the intervalometer? Very disappointed the EVF hasn't been changed. It's the same finder the NEX-7 debuted with, for crying out loud. Does this have the focus map feature like the A7 IV introduced? Despite some of the weird Sonyisms, the new sensor, faster memory card slot, and USB-C may finally push me from my trusty (seven year old!) a6500, when the a6600 could not.
I bought a used A7C in 2020, after 6 years with an A6000. I decided it was more camera than I needed and sold it after a few months to buy an A6400. I really didn't expect to upgrade my "nice" camera again for many, many years, but the A6700 is tempting.
Excellent review, as always. As someone looking to get into hybrid shooting after being primarily photo-centric, the Fujifilm X-S20 is looking like a better option for me than the a6700. At the very least, the X-S20 supports open-gate and anamorphic video, which I cannot understand why Sony would leave that out of a new camera that's very obviously targeted at hybrid creators.
@@sourishadhikary Nikon Z50 has the same level of weather sealing as the X-S10 and X-S20 but Fujifilm isn't willing to call it weather sealing unlike Nikon. The X-S series' only potential intrusion point is the battery compartment, so just don't hold it upside down in a downpour.
Dear Dr Nichols and Dr Drake. I have been having sleepless nights and constant headaches for a month now !! I do believe it’s the decision I am wanting to make over my next camera upgrade!!! I am a hobbyist photographer using a Canon. m50 . Favouring landscape photography .My current options are Sony a6700 or Fuji x-S20 ………….. or x-t3 or 5!!!! ( I like to cover my bases!) Canon R7 and Nikon Z5 feel too heavy!!!! Can I have a prescription please - a shoot out between the Sony a6700 and Fuji x-S20! 🙏 Love your channel and podcast! I don’t always understand what you are talking about re techy side of things but you both have a tonne of enthusiasm which is infectious !! Look forward to receiving my prescription soon!!! 😂 Mandy from the UK
My last Sony apsc was the a6500. Love the compactness of the camera and it performed great. Paired it up with the sigma f/1.4 apsc trio. Glad to see Sony is making a new release. But I already moved on to Fujifilm and Nikon Z lol.
It was a really nice camera concept many many years ago and It peaked with the 6500, And They have been coasting ever since. Even at this point just having a screen on the side is just pretty stupid. But $1,400 for some absolutely low-grade screens plan overheating? Nah
Bought a Sony 6xxx once, I don't recall the exact model, I returned it the next day. Somehow I found it more technical and less photography. I felt like I was using an electronic device rather than a photography camera.
Good upgrades. I'm in a goid place with my A6600, and Fuji XT-1. Both cameras have a great selection of lenses! Something that should never be taken lightly. Nice job, guys!
Nice review as always! Hasn't (single exposure, so non-computational photography) image quality plateaud for all sensor sizes though, not just APS-C? From what I understood, pretty much all modern sensors are less than a stop away from the theoretical maximum efficiency, so the major differentiators that are left are sensor size and the ability to make multiple exposures / use computational photography.
Same here :) I was looking at the A7C but I didn't feel like changing lenses nor do I "need" full frame. I use my A6300 for video a lot and the rolling shutter has been noticable.
He's talking about in the Sony range. He starts out this section at 4:40 stating "So we've got a lot of features carried over from the other Sony bodies in the line, some new some old", and goes on to list several of them including the lossless compressed raw files. Hence why he says "This is not new, it's been around a lot in THE full frame cameras" as opposed to "This is not new it's been around a lot in full frame cameras"; he's referring to the Sony full frame cameras in the range.
I really liked the pop up articulating flash on the mid tier 6xxx series, because it was always useful in a pinch, especially on holiday in low indoor light conditions, where bringing an external flash is a hassle. This is the reason why I got my a6400, over the 6600/a7c, and probably why I won't upgrade to the a6700.
I bought an X-S20 a day before the A6700 was released and now I'm torn, should I keep it or get the Sony. The things swaying me to the Sony are no crop in 4k60 / FHD240p (why add a crop Fuji!), much better video AF, catalyst (for some awesome post processing options), weather sealing (I don't film in the rain but got rained on several times and was scared for my X-S10), 4K120p (even with the huge crop), higher ISO range (better in low light?), the ISO for SLOG3 Is 800 instead of 1250 on the Fuji FLOG2 (less noisy video?), amazing in body fixes for lens breathing and other lens defects (can't find any info on in body fixed on the Fuji?), I'm finding the exact same lenses are 20-30% cheaper in E-mount vs X-mount. The things swaying me to the Fuji is the open gate 6.2k (great for instagram and UA-cam cropping), no overheating in video, better IBIS (on paper anyway, I can't find a side by side test in video?), 4k60 USB webcam (single USB cable for power / external recording with film sims, very cool!), better LCD screen, joystick is super handy, fuji colours and film simulations are awesome to have, some unique great lenses, many years of meaningful firmware updates (Sony are notorious for neglecting cameras after release). I'm very torn! - Any thoughts? :)
Great review, as always, and nice little upgrade. Love the 10-bit color, the 4k 60, and some of the other tweaks. I’ll add this to my Sony APS-C quiver, keep my clients happy, and continue to support my family.
I would really like to see you folks test the XT4 as well. The previous best APSC camera. It was one of the best all rounders for a couple years so it would be nice to see if the updates have helped keep it relevant.
The XT4 is still more than good enough and one of the best value Fuji models actually if you get it used for like 950 dollars. But the autofocus of that generation lags behind. In video, autofocus is always hunting and even worse than previous Sony apsc generation, which was already very good but now it's next level.
It's nice to see that Sony hasn't forgotten about apsc line. I guess their next step should be to refresh the apsc lens lineup as it's showing its age. They were the first to appear on the market with the arrival of Sony a6000 and Nex cameras. I am in the Nikon Z system and their lenses are superior, even the more affordable ones.
The latest improvements are amazing but I still wish they make the UI as fast and simple as the one you find in smartphones. I would smartphone level of sharing and more casual editing for social media. Still using my OG A7 and 35. Still love it for casual portraits and landscape.
So I was going to upgrade my Fujifilm camera to the x100v......they are not and have not been available for a very long time which makes me question Fuji's viability in a competitive market. But after seeing this video.....I am on board with Sony. Thanks for your information.....I appreciate it.
I wonder why Jordan got the overheating issue worse than other reviewers. Others reported no overheating issues up to 4k60 until the battery died/memory got full. Did you flip the camera screen out?
I'm really torn between the a6700 and the FX30. We mainly shoot video for our law firm, but occasionally stills for portraits of staff. Thanks for posting this video. Gives me a lot to think about as far as the a6700.
Isn't that a bit like a neurosurgeon choosing a scalpel based on its color? Ever see what real photographers' cameras look like? -- often beat to sh*t. But anyway...
We currently have the a6600 and our business is mostly video with some photography. Now that this camera has a6600, is it still worth looking at full-frame like Sony Alpha A7SIII or FX3. They are double the price plus all the lenses, but I'm wondering what the top advantages are. Just low light?
Looks great. A big step up for ergonomics. Let's cross our fingers that the A7Cii takes the same approach to ergonomics (though I hope they don't go as large with the grip). The only thing holding me back from an A6700 is the impact of that larger grip on fitting the camera in a jacket pocket.
I honestly am curious VS the a7iii. I still see many VERY beautiful UA-cam videos with that camera, and it's down to about the same price. Yes I understand they are different targets and sensor size, which is part of why a comparison would be interesting.
it really doesn't matter.... both cameras resolve 4k more than easily... you won't see a difference in image quality for video... the APS-C Senosr has A LOT less rolling shutter but that's it
If you are doing any kind of handheld shooting, the gyrodata capable to be stabilize footage with Catalyst Browse/Gyroflow is godsend for newer models including A6700 but not A73. Also the in-camera Active SteadyShot on A6700 is much superior from the test footages Ive seen. All those are advantages even if you don't care about 10bit422 or the cheaper lens prices for the APSC range. Other improvements of A6700 over A73 are MI shoe microphones compatibility, AI chip for better autofocus among others. Is there such a big benefit to go FF? Not enough justification, at least for me. APSC is more than good enough for 95% of users. If you are a professional who can write off camera gear purchases as business expenses, then yes, by all means go ahead, but for hobbyists and prosumers, whats the point for that extra thousands and thousands of dollars more for the body and lenses?
I have the 6600 and a7 III. The big differences are about video quality and AF - the A7 III is more than five years old, and it shows up most in these areas. The newer a7C feels like a more appropriate comparison (especially with an expected update this year) and I’m sure that will get a lot of head to head comparisons. If you take the generation gap out of the equation, it’s more about the inherent tradeoffs between full frame and APS-C. I think that’s a more impactful consideration than “which one has the 2023 specs?”
@@LoFiAxolotl A6700 is 10bit color and a7III only 8bit, so there is a big difference, you can easly see banding in 8bit which is terrible, and overall is harder in post
For a video stand point, a6700 is better than a7iii. Yes, low light is a bit worse but very close. image stabilization is better on 6700 and its easier to handle or carry around. Smaller lenses are a huge deal, especially if you are using a longer focal length, we know how big the lenses are on full frame. As far as photo capabilities, a7iii has the advantage of having a great low light full frame sensor which even today is great. I've done photos with it i would never have done with an aps-c. Sunsets, sunrises, etc, you name it. For most people the a6700 is better, and I would buy it if I had to choose between this or a7iii. Smaller body, smaller lenses, great video, better stabilization, 26mp is heaven for most people. And of course better autofocus
Was about to pull the trigger on this, but changed my mind and think I will get an A7R IV 2nd hand instead. I have both the OG A7R and the a6000 - might as well kill two birds with one stone. The A7R iv is barely bigger than the a6700 and the specs even in APSC mode are close enough to the a6700. At 2nd hand, the price is close enough to the A6700's RRP too. Its like having both a top spec APSC camera and a top spec full frame camera in one.
Thanks. A lot of APSC options out there: Sony A6700 Canon R7 Fuji XS20 (and other APSC Cameras) Nikon Z50 (and other APSC copycat of Z50 - I guess Nikon will update the Z50 at some point).
Chris, excellent review! I am currently in something of a quandary. I wish to switch from full frame to a good quality APS-C system. I am not a professional but I do want to ensure that the system I eventually buy is good enough to produce pin sharp images and has all the latest technology built in to both camera and lenses. I attended the photography show in the U.K. on Saturday to try to get a feel for the various models of camera and I found the sheer variety almost overwhelming! The one thing I did decide - I don’t feel the Fuji X100 series is suitable for me. I do manage to get qood quality and pin sharp images (most of the time!) from my Sony full frame Sony A7R IV camera but the camera itself is quite heavy and bulky, the lenses also are also equally inconvenient to carry around and, of course, being full frame they are very expensive. And the biggest disadvantage is the huge size of the files (61 megapixels) which take up an enormous amount of storage space. Would you agree that the Sony A6700 is the best APS-C system on the market - or is there another even better system? Henri
Great video! Subbed. Love the lighting facing the window for the last segment. Probably need a fill light when shooting against the window as a backdrop. Glad to know we got 6700. I’ve been looking to get one watching tons of videos, I guess that’s why UA-cam suggested me yours. Hello from Houston Texas USA.
I am a Fuji X-S10 user and I can't really decide whether to move to Sony, stay Fuji or move Lumix S5 II X now? 😂 I love the way you can track autofocus in video on Sony camera, there is no object tracking on my Fuji 😢
I was looking for more megapixels I am currently using the 6300 I am not really interested in video it nice I may upgrade to a used 6600,for the focus tracking
Thanks for the great review as always!!Sony never really understood photography well, although they have great tech. Only 11 fps and no pre-shot buffer. On top of it, will need to check for sensor reflections - this leads to bad flaring and blooming issues on my A6100.
I really hope the overheating issue is just a pre release model issue…I’m a hybrid shooter that loves video And I’ve had the a6600 for years now and I have never ran into any overheating issues during day long shoots. I’ve always wanted 10 bit 4k video but if overheating happens within 30min then the a6700 would be a deal breaker. Unfortunate cause this seems like the PERFECT camera for me
First, great video. But i too am a bit underwhelmed. I was expecting upgrades to the IBIS and LCD and EVF. For me, and photo-centric use, its this or a Fuji, given good lens options for both. Still using my Nikon Z50, but not seeing any follow on model offering from Nikon. I like Sony for how well LR handles their raw files. But i value Fuji’s upgraded IBIS.

Ive been using the a6500 for the last few years. I just pre-ordered this a6700 on Wednesday. Cant wait.
I'm still using NEX-7
I love my A6400. How much of an improvement in noise would the A6700 be in low light, specifically Astro and nightscapes?
Did they FINALLY remember to put 30p 4k in "HEVC"? For some incredibly odd reason, they have skipped over this in HEVC and only allow it in h.264. Every newer camera this this oversight. Did Sony's programmers finally remember to add this on the A6700?
Hopefully features and front dial will trickle down to the A7C II, which is the camera that I’m waiting for.
I hope it gets the a7rV multi dimension screen artoculation, which doesn't seem to be on this one.
Should i buy the A7c or 6700?
I bought a used A7C in 2020, after 6 years with an A6000. I decided it was more camera than I needed and sold it after a few months to buy an A6400. I really didn't expect to upgrade my "nice" camera again for many, many years, but the A6700 is tempting.
It really seems like the 6700 is more focused (pun intended) on big improvements in vid vs photography per se. I'd get a a7c personally.
For a little bit more, you can find a used A7 IV. Worth a comparison video?
I like the selector switch. I wish they'd bring back the a6400 back panel toggle switch and link it to memory modes.
Sheesh with the open gate, not even a question. Especially with vertical content being so popular
I agree 6k opengate will be a big thing for content creators. It will be lovely if Sony allows it too.
Most relatable comment in this video rn, only issue I'm seeing in X-S20 is the absence of weather sealing
@@sourishadhikary and lack of gyrodata stabilization which is very very useful for anyone shooting handheld.

Look forward to receiving my prescription soon!!! 😂

My last Sony apsc was the a6500. Love the compactness of the camera and it performed great. Paired it up with the sigma f/1.4 apsc trio. Glad to see Sony is making a new release. But I already moved on to Fujifilm and Nikon Z lol.
The A6000 was my first "serious" camera --- cut my teeth on it; only good memories. I moved onto Fuji in 2018 and it'd be hard to go back.
It was a really nice camera concept many many years ago and It peaked with the 6500, And They have been coasting ever since.
Even at this point just having a screen on the side is just pretty stupid. But $1,400 for some absolutely low-grade screens plan overheating? Nah
@@simonmaduxx6777 WTF...where's there a screen on the side?!
Bought a Sony 6xxx once, I don't recall the exact model, I returned it the next day. Somehow I found it more technical and less photography. I felt like I was using an electronic device rather than a photography camera.
This is exactly the camera I wanted except for a full size HDMI port and new camera strap lugs so I'm happy
waited 4 years for this camera...
majorly dissapointed that the ibis has not been improved
minor dissapointment about the evf
still gonna buy it
Sony does IBIS better because there is no wobble.
Good upgrades. I'm in a goid place with my A6600, and Fuji XT-1. Both cameras have a great selection of lenses! Something that should never be taken lightly. Nice job, guys!
What's the biggest print you can make with your X-T1?
Nice review as always! Hasn't (single exposure, so non-computational photography) image quality plateaud for all sensor sizes though, not just APS-C? From what I understood, pretty much all modern sensors are less than a stop away from the theoretical maximum efficiency, so the major differentiators that are left are sensor size and the ability to make multiple exposures / use computational photography.
I’ve the a6300 for like 6 years and I’m seriously thinking about upgrading to this one. Glad I don’t have to change my lenses.
Same here :) I was looking at the A7C but I didn't feel like changing lenses nor do I "need" full frame. I use my A6300 for video a lot and the rolling shutter has been noticable.
The review is great as always, desperately waiting for the a6700 vs xs20
I have been struggling to choose Sony a6700 or fujifilm 20xs, could anyone share his wisdom on this please????
Nice review guys! just small correction needed, its not the 1st APS-C to have lossless compressed RAWS Fuji has had it for a while👍
Was just gonna say this. I just got a XT30 and it also has lossless compressed RAWS
Fuji gang gang (XT5/XT30 user)
He’s talking about in the Sony lineup
Average Fuji user trying to insert fuji into every conversation.
Ah yes the first sony camera with lossless compression, the fuji xt30
Holy crap I genuinely thought it was never gonna happen
I use mine mostly with the 200-600 for wildlife, works pretty darn good
I really liked the pop up articulating flash on the mid tier 6xxx series, because it was always useful in a pinch, especially on holiday in low indoor light conditions, where bringing an external flash is a hassle.
This is the reason why I got my a6400, over the 6600/a7c, and probably why I won't upgrade to the a6700.
I have an a6300 and I never use the flash as it's low light performance is absolutely fantastic. What do you use the flash for?
Where is the comparison video between the A6700, R7 and X-S20?
Great review, as always, and nice little upgrade. Love the 10-bit color, the 4k 60, and some of the other tweaks. I’ll add this to my Sony APS-C quiver, keep my clients happy, and continue to support my family.
Thanks guys ! What about open gate recording ? Since nobody talks about it I guess it is absent here, which makes a big difference with the XS20!
What’s important about open gate recording?
@@Threetri333 it gives you the opportunity to reframe more easily your aspect ratio from 16:9 to 9:16 for online content creation
Excellent review like always! loved 1/4 Noct reference LOL!
it's funny how every reviewer is criticisizing the EVF with 2.36MP and I'm still rocking the a6000 with 0.9MP EVF and never had an issue with it
You don't do macro/haven't been spoiled by using a much better camera.
11:55 hey remember how you wanted to do APS-C shootout? It's been almost a year...
Can we have a video on XS20 vs A6700
I need that!!!!!!
Rolling shutter tests I have seen on other channels show it to look the same warping as the A6400...
The latest improvements are amazing but I still wish they make the UI as fast and simple as the one you find in smartphones. I would smartphone level of sharing and more casual editing for social media. Still using my OG A7 and 35. Still love it for casual portraits and landscape.
I will be patiently waiting for X-S20 comparison. Will move from X-T3 to one of these two.
So I was going to upgrade my Fujifilm camera to the x100v......they are not and have not been available for a very long time which makes me question Fuji's viability in a competitive market. But after seeing this video.....I am on board with Sony. Thanks for your information.....I appreciate it.
Although this is a Sony camera review but man watching those pastel, dreamy colours shot from Lumix S5IIX is such a feast to the eyes!
Is this shot on the s5II? I was wondering- it looks great
Oh man ! Just found you guys back! awesome you are still making videos 🎉
Great review! Looking forward to watching the APS-C shootout with Canon and Fuji 🙂
I wonder why Jordan got the overheating issue worse than other reviewers. Others reported no overheating issues up to 4k60 until the battery died/memory got full. Did you flip the camera screen out?
Love your T Shirt Jordan!
I'm really torn between the a6700 and the FX30. We mainly shoot video for our law firm, but occasionally stills for portraits of staff. Thanks for posting this video. Gives me a lot to think about as far as the a6700.
Ya know if they added the silver top option like the A7C has, it would go a long way to adding a little style to the A6xxx bodies
Isn't that a bit like a neurosurgeon choosing a scalpel based on its color? Ever see what real photographers' cameras look like? -- often beat to sh*t. But anyway...
Can I connect an external monitor via HDMI, and not lose face tracking autofocus?
Hmm, watched all the A6700 reviews I could find today and this is the only one that mentioned an overheating issue. That surprises me.
I'm reeeeeally looking forward to the R7 vs X-S20 vs a6700 video!
We currently have the a6600 and our business is mostly video with some photography. Now that this camera has a6600, is it still worth looking at full-frame like
Sony Alpha A7SIII or FX3. They are double the price plus all the lenses, but I'm wondering what the top advantages are. Just low light?
Pretty much
The camera is somewhat unimpressive, but what does impress is that new background Jordan is using for the video segments. Video looks great.
Totally agree - Don’t think ill be upgrading from my 6400
Wondering if the aps-c mode of the a7rv makes this camera redundant for a full-frame shooter.
I almost upgraded from a6500 to FX-30 after losing hope getting a 10-bit upgrade to the 6**** series. Will get a 6700 next week.
I wish you did an image quality and colour rendering study, stuff that actually makes or breaks the deal.
Thanks.
A lot of APSC options out there:
Sony A6700
Canon R7
Fuji XS20 (and other APSC Cameras)
Nikon Z50 (and other APSC copycat of Z50 - I guess Nikon will update the Z50 at some point).
Only a6700 does 4k120
I would love to see that compatision between this xs 20 and sony a6700
Thank you so much for the informative and helpful review on Sony A6700. Good luck guys!
I was looking for more megapixels
I am currently using the 6300 I am not really interested in video it nice I may upgrade to a used 6600,for the focus tracking
Thanks for the great review as always!!Sony never really understood photography well, although they have great tech. Only 11 fps and no pre-shot buffer. On top of it, will need to check for sensor reflections - this leads to bad flaring and blooming issues on my A6100.
I really hope the overheating issue is just a pre release model issue…I’m a hybrid shooter that loves video
And I’ve had the a6600 for years now and I have never ran into any overheating issues during day long shoots. I’ve always wanted 10 bit 4k video but if overheating happens within 30min then the a6700 would be a deal breaker. Unfortunate cause this seems like the PERFECT camera for me
Is it worth upgrading from A6400?
First, great video. But i too am a bit underwhelmed. I was expecting upgrades to the IBIS and LCD and EVF. For me, and photo-centric use, its this or a Fuji, given good lens options for both. Still using my Nikon Z50, but not seeing any follow on model offering from Nikon. I like Sony for how well LR handles their raw files. But i value Fuji’s upgraded IBIS.
Looking forward to the comparison between APS-Cs that have similar prices!
Hello,
Have you heard about the freezing problem during vidéos and photos with the A6700 ?
I have got the problem but I found many other people too.
