I just bought it yesterday after 100+ hours of overall mission time because i got the first overclock for it (minelayer system) and I gotta say: it is fun af, during a swarm you can only hear the sweet sound of Vietnam's napalm explosions and it trivialised the salvage operation with swarmageddon that i did with it
Additional Notes: Missile Salvo is surprisingly flexible, due to the idea that you can also _control your firing type._ - The 3 Burst as shown in the video is one variation, but another I would like to bring to attention is the idea that you can still fire Guided Missiles when you spam M1, even adhering to the increased RoF. Your gun still has an initial Base Spread, unique to Salvo, so firing from up close would rather warrant a .blank 2-3 Burst. For most mid-ranged foes that you aren’t actively sprinting towards (i.e. Mactera), you can control your aim better against them.
@@siirvend If not for Mactera, I mostly use it for singular Grunts (i.e. under-the-radar Doretta harassment, stragglers of Swarm Clear, etc). That or shooting Praetorians in the face to stun them and save my current Clip for loading a 9, _when you REALLY don’t want it in your Black Box right now._

Great Vid! I personally use the Plasma wizard build, although I'd suggest people who are just starting to use that overclock to use Anti Tank missiles instead of Bigger Jet Engine for the 2nd mod. It'll give you more room for error, as well as giving it more airtime for Nitroglycerin Rounds and more use against armored bugs! That's just me though, play how you want!
@@xalius_or_something They're certainly tasteful but far from being the most optimized. Gotta experiment with them yourself to fine-tune them further. For starters, with Minelayer, it's often best to take tier 1 AoE to make extra use of the x1.5 radius multiplier, going up to a whopping 3.3m radius, compared to 2.1m otherwise. Tier 3 fire rate can backfire, as 2 mines are enough to hit the grunt breakpoint. The +36 ammo can also help because tier 1 ammo is forgone. Tier 5 fire conversion can be used, but generally speaking, the Hurricane is an underwhelming weapon for igniting big targets unless you're using the Jet Fuel Homebrew OC. It takes 5 mines to fully ignite a Praetorian and you're missing out on an especially important crowd control tool: Stun.

Yay, this with Salvo Module was essentially my gunner primary, because it was the first OC I had, and Gunner is my least played class! So by the time I finally got to actually playing Gunner, I had the full kit unlocked with a couple OCs! So I never actually knew that you could guide Hurrican Rockets, because I did like 3 promotions with only Hurricane and only Salvo Module, lol! :P
Man I need to get around to playing gunner, I’m a green beard and so far only played driller and engineer. Once I get engi to the 2nd promotion I’ll probably do gunner next.

Just wanted to say i really love your builds videos, people get too worked up on haz 5 metas, especially greenbeards, your videos encourage people to have fun and experiment and find what works for them and in my opinion thats what makes the best builds, here’s to many more videos to come, Rock and Stone.
I wholeheartedly agree! There's nothing inherently wrong with sticking to one or two trusted builds but I feel that variety, optimized or not, is the best part of having so many options available to us with our weapons. Rock n Stone!

I use fire instead of stun on t5 and rocket speed on t2. as secondary I run BRT on compact rounds with 13232 for heavy burst damage against big bugs. 3 rocket set bugs on fire and then you can just forget about them; burst gun for preats and bigger, doing 37.80 damage per bullet + weakpoint bonus across 204 bullets
Super excited to try the plasma wizard build. Been eyeing this overclock lately but haven’t tried it yet. Been on a minelayer binge lately after watching a vid from SnowingFate and it’s now my current Gunner EDD build (unless there’s dreads). Good Stuff, Cant wait for the vid on Dealing with Rivals I was thinking group up the Caretaker & Rival events [including the "Boring IT work" - your words ;) ] I would love to hear any tips & tricks on dealing with them / any other builds that work great with them. I have my own but always good to hear other opinions One tip I would add / ask you explore is Staying High when dealing with the Caretaker. If the terrain allows you can just avoid the shield projectors and as driller you can drop C4 onto the Big Dorito
I used to main big bertha and thought the hurricane was underwhelming until I got sick of the long reload and inaccuracy. so I tried the hurricane again without Salvo module and I'm starting to main the hurricane. I've just got the plasma busters, not a fan. I'm now just trying to get fragmented missile, feed mechanism, and jetfueled homebrew. Currently my basic build is 1-2-2-1-2 without overclocks. The minelayer build is very interesting, If I get it I'll definitely try it out if I get lucky enough. Great video tho, will be definitely helping me out determine what I wanna do with my hurricane

As someone that recently got into DRG I love ya videos. They are funny, entertaining, and informative. Also for this one I love how ya put the build with no overclock at the beginning for easy reference, helps a lot as I'm still trying to get overclocks in general. Keep up the amazing work! Some overclocks are kinda highly specialized. For example, the plasma rockets, its actually fine against detonators, even bosses and some more big bugs, but you would suffer lot as here is lots of bugs going to bite off your beard. On most mission if i go with rocket launcher (i still prefer autocannon much more), salvo mode and fragmentation they are really middle standing overclocks for almost most situations.

Oh man this was great. I gotta try out your Salvo build too. I remember I got that overclock before I got the launcher. So when I unlocked the launcher, I saw the overclock and had to equip it. Never looked back since. XD
I have my own build to share! Swarm Shredder 1,2,1,2,1 with the Fragmentation Missiles overclock. The Anti-Tank Missiles rips away the armor of a swarm making way for the devastating blast damage. Even if anything is still alive after the barrage they will probably on fire and very low health. A thing to note is that you can change upgrades 1, 3, and 5 to 3, 2, and 2 if you just want to rip apart swarms that much more but you will be lacking in ammo. Fragmentation Missiles is to make sure large groups of bugs will be affected with a couple missiles. The playstyle is shoot large groups of bugs because you can't do too much single target damage.
Favorite build is using the JFH Hurricane with stun combined with coils electrical trail and fear mod. Because of the way stun/fear interact, you're very hard for the bugs to hit. Plus the great single target and efficient aoe
I'd like to point out that Second Wind pairs surprisingly well with the mine-hopping technique you talked about. You maintain the speed boost even after jumping, so it’s really good for kiting swarms. Also, can I ask why you take one damage mod and one ammo mod with Magic Bullets? 5 extra direct damage per shot hardly seems worth it compared to 12 more shots.

really just thought about it, but salvo module turns your rocket launcher into a rocket shotgun _it could be considered funny that a fairly good overclock on one of gunner's weapons is one of the worst with little to no changes on one of driller's_
@@commanderdemonno9819 I highly suggest trying out the last build in my CSP video; S.H.A.R.T. It doesn't have the crowd control of other Pump builds but it's damage is out of control. It melts dreadnoughts and things like oppressors and praets like nobodies business. Just bring a secondary that'll help with swarm clear since it's easy to use all your ammo.
For as much as I used the salvo overclock I never knew the fire rate increases how many missiles are loaded into the salvo, I'll have to look into that some time, although I have too much fun big Bertha and Neurotoxin payload thunderhead Also does the armor break mod work on plasma infused rockets overclock?
Took me a while to figure that out too. I only noticed when I switch the mods around just to see how it felt. And yes, the armor break does work on Plasma Burster Missiles. You trade out the temporal damage increase but it does strip the armor off of pretty much anything very quickly.

I use something similar to thunderclap array, using salvo hurricane and compact mags brt, as well as using stun on both. i effectively use my salvo hurricane as a brt, constantly going for 3 load shots- its fun, but im not sure on the actual practicality, haha
5:05 OMG 😮 you ACTUALLY have found the best time to kill build for gunner ? i AM proud of you miner! let there be at least 2(you and me XD) peolpe who actually seriously tried this build, napalm mod on hurricane is good only for minelayer to reduce its damage boost from three times to twice the damage that os not that big of a deal considering its just a basic hurricane with DOUBLE ignition damage
It only takes 1 Plasma Burster to take out the rocks on Escort, so you can actually take out up to 5 rocks per ammo consumed. Uncontrolled Decompression is also extremely good with Plasma Burster. You can weave missiles between multiple Mactera to keep them all stunned. It really looked like you were making your life harder than it needed to be in your exhibition vs those Mactera. And for anyone else interested in trying Plasma Burster, do not bring it to Swarmageddon without a 22123 Coil Gun, preferably with Triple Tech but no OC and Ultra Magnetic Coils are both good too. Electro Mines BRT may work too. Area damage Bulldog doesn't have enough ammo. Jet Fuel Homebrew is pretty hard to use for swarmers too with the reduced AoE radius and damage, so a good AoE damage secondary is a very nice to have with this OC too.
Welp that abother few fun ways at being portable rocket turret heh, keep it up man! By this time maybe devs may actually ask you to help with something at some point
I saw from a video about cut enemies there was gonna be a queen hatchling and it would act like a hoarder until it got away then it would summon a huge swarm
Remember to always ask before borrowing plasma components from your currently employed engineer. Otherwise turrets might malfunction and recognise big green armoured dwarf as a glyphid
I actually switched to stun over nitroglycerin rounds on my Plasma build I've taken kind of a liking to it, more hits = more stuns, so the two make for a pretty good combo.

I totally understand, the larger AoE on planted mines can be really effective on large groups. I just take the extra 72 rockets because I found myself running out more often then I would like with the way I use the OC.
I actually think triple tech is quite a good pairing with salvo. Salvo is already kind of a generalist weapon, so having an equally generalist secondary helps balance it out
@@siirvend even with Hellfire and the mole, TTC is my favorite OC for the CG. The crazy burst damage is amazing against Opps, Shellbacks, even dreads. And since it's so ammo efficient, you can afford to take the damage mod, which makes the burst even better. Love it
Armour breaking doesn't work on the hurricane's aoe, only on direct damage. Also, napalm rounds doesn't *convert* your damage, it *adds heat* to your damage.

Plasma burster is the only interesting looking overclock I have as of now, and I heard it got buffed in season 4 since the rockets will now avoid the ground.
I always revered Gunners as the heroes - what with those clutch shields and being able to turn an entire swarm into particulate faster than I can blink. But I never took them as the brainiest sorts, y'know? Seeing this thing in action though... I certainly retract my statement. Seriously, this thing puts the "tactical" in "tactical nuke". Being able to unleash a swarm of vicious little plasma Deeptora, or unleash a shotgun-like volley in a wicked, explosive sneeze... Yeah, this thing is impressive to behold. Though I can see why it takes some time at the gym to use - why the heck do they keep it under the workbench like that? You ever stub your toe on what feels like a solid brick of Tungsten? ... Makes me wish I could slap a missile platform on my LMG Turret. Yeah, the Mk.2 is a beastly little thing, but sometimes it just feels like it could do even more sometimes. An LMG Mk.3... Someone once told me I could achieve that with just a "few whacks with a wrench", but I think they were being sarcastic. (I also just felt so guilty seeing all those dents in my best friend like that!) (One additional detail I forgot to mention that I love about your work: how every build rocks a unique framework/skin combo to fit it's "vibe". Seeing the Plasma Carbine with the purple neon was really cool, and the same goes for here - that Napalm Launcher with the cautionary red and orange hues and more overengineered appearance to it. Plus, the solid brick of Rival Tech with a splash of purple lighting looks just perfect for some Plasma Wizardry! You really put thought into every little detail, and it's amazing. :D)
You can kinda get the missile feel with turret whip on the Warthog but I definitely feel you, I want a souped up sentry with narrow FoV and shorter range to balance it. Maybe a yellow hardhat, goggles and a Texan accent too.
I prefer to use Plasma Burster Missiles with more conventional Secondaries, like Six-Shooter Bulldog or any balanced OC for BRT. And I'm thinking - is it any good to use Coil Gun w/Plasma Bursters?
Armor breaking is bugged with aoe damage and won't work properly, so unless you are hitting the rockets directly there is no point in having the armor break perk.
I addressed this in the corrections video, I'm aware of the issue. The thing was, I was already hitting direct rockets to rip off armor before I knew this and it doesn't change that the mod is still doing what I want it to. Maybe not as instantaneous as it would be with AoE but it gets the job I need done, done.
I talk about it in this video if you skip to 10:40. They actually buffed them after I made this video to make them even easier to use but the info is still good.
Oh yeah, that one OC that cuts off the guidance (I forget it's name) seemed like it was there to do just that. I couldn't find a use for it besides that but I'm sure it's really useful for when you'd just rather not. Does allow for peeking though.
armor break doesnt work cuz it's bugged and you dont get the full intended value, it doesnt deal full damage on armor break and only partially breaks away strength and health based armor
If it is, I haven't noticed. Seems to me that the direct damage still rips the armor off but if it is totally non-functional then I hope they patch it soon since that's a bit insane. If thar happens I guess I'll be right in the future?
@@siirvend yeah that's MOBA's though. league of legends has champions that can cc you for 5 seconds straight one being able to get 11 seconds of non stop cc. DOTA is worse with like 30 second silences and other super long cc stuff. i haven't played it just told by people that have so might be less or more.

Oh man this was great. I gotta try out your Salvo build too. I remember I got that overclock before I got the launcher. So when I unlocked the launcher, I saw the overclock and had to equip it. Never looked back since. XD

Swarm Shredder
1,2,1,2,1 with the Fragmentation Missiles overclock.
The Anti-Tank Missiles rips away the armor of a swarm making way for the devastating blast damage.
Even if anything is still alive after the barrage they will probably on fire and very low health.
A thing to note is that you can change upgrades 1, 3, and 5 to 3, 2, and 2 if you just want to rip apart
swarms that much more but you will be lacking in ammo. Fragmentation Missiles is to make sure large groups of bugs will be affected with a couple missiles. The playstyle is shoot large groups of bugs because you can't do too much single target damage.
Also, plasma bursters one-shot flying rocks on escort missions. No idea why

Not necessarily a weakness, I think the missiles just impact them rapidly as they pass through for so weird spaghetti code reason
R&D should hire this guy to give lectures for greenbeards.
This is one that I have been waiting for and looking forward to.
Favorite build is using the JFH Hurricane with stun combined with coils electrical trail and fear mod. Because of the way stun/fear interact, you're very hard for the bugs to hit.
Plus the great single target and efficient aoe

I'd like to point out that Second Wind pairs surprisingly well with the mine-hopping technique you talked about. You maintain the speed boost even after jumping, so it’s really good for kiting swarms.
Also, can I ask why you take one damage mod and one ammo mod with Magic Bullets? 5 extra direct damage per shot hardly seems worth it compared to 12 more shots.
Second wind is pretty underrated, and in that instance its extremely useful. Thanks!

@@commanderdemonno9819 I highly suggest trying out the last build in my CSP video; S.H.A.R.T. It doesn't have the crowd control of other Pump builds but it's damage is out of control. It melts dreadnoughts and things like oppressors and praets like nobodies business. Just bring a secondary that'll help with swarm clear since it's easy to use all your ammo.
For as much as I used the salvo overclock I never knew the fire rate increases how many missiles are loaded into the salvo, I'll have to look into that some time, although I have too much fun big Bertha and Neurotoxin payload thunderhead

Took me a while to figure that out too. I only noticed when I switch the mods around just to see how it felt.
And yes, the armor break does work on Plasma Burster Missiles. You trade out the temporal damage increase but it does strip the armor off of pretty much anything very quickly.

I use something similar to thunderclap array, using salvo hurricane and compact mags brt, as well as using stun on both.
i effectively use my salvo hurricane as a brt, constantly going for 3 load shots- its fun, but im not sure on the actual practicality, haha
5:05 OMG 😮 you ACTUALLY have found the best time to kill build for gunner ? i AM proud of you miner! let there be at least 2(you and me XD) peolpe who actually seriously tried this build, napalm mod on hurricane is good only for minelayer to reduce its damage boost from three times to twice the damage that os not that big of a deal considering its just a basic hurricane with DOUBLE ignition damage
The plasmatic wizard build is actually good now bcz of the fix/buff it recieved and is my current favorite build on it

It only takes 1 Plasma Burster to take out the rocks on Escort, so you can actually take out up to 5 rocks per ammo consumed.
Uncontrolled Decompression is also extremely good with Plasma Burster. You can weave missiles between multiple Mactera to keep them all stunned. It really looked like you were making your life harder than it needed to be in your exhibition vs those Mactera.
And for anyone else interested in trying Plasma Burster, do not bring it to Swarmageddon without a 22123 Coil Gun, preferably with Triple Tech but no OC and Ultra Magnetic Coils are both good too. Electro Mines BRT may work too. Area damage Bulldog doesn't have enough ammo.
Jet Fuel Homebrew is pretty hard to use for swarmers too with the reduced AoE radius and damage, so a good AoE damage secondary is a very nice to have with this OC too.
Welp that abother few fun ways at being portable rocket turret heh, keep it up man! By this time maybe devs may actually ask you to help with something at some point

Remember to always ask before borrowing plasma components from your currently employed engineer. Otherwise turrets might malfunction and recognise big green armoured dwarf as a glyphid

I actually switched to stun over nitroglycerin rounds on my Plasma build I've taken kind of a liking to it, more hits = more stuns, so the two make for a pretty good combo.
I can definitely see that, especially with goobombers since they just freeze in place
The way I learned to use the hurricane was to shoot one less rocket than you think you need

The gunpowder doesn't agree with me but I love the flavor.
The minelayer overclock's mines MULTIPLY the rocket's normal AoE damage and range, so AoE range is better than ammo in tier 1 for Minelayer builds.
I totally understand, the larger AoE on planted mines can be really effective on large groups. I just take the extra 72 rockets because I found myself running out more often then I would like with the way I use the OC.
I think we have to have a lot of mobility to make the overclocking that turns this weapon into a shotgun work better.
Oh for sure, that's why I like using it for dreadnoughts

I actually think triple tech is quite a good pairing with salvo. Salvo is already kind of a generalist weapon, so having an equally generalist secondary helps balance it out

@@siirvend even with Hellfire and the mole, TTC is my favorite OC for the CG. The crazy burst damage is amazing against Opps, Shellbacks, even dreads. And since it's so ammo efficient, you can afford to take the damage mod, which makes the burst even better. Love it
personal favourite is the mine layer build, max your ammo and you should be good with the overclock…atleast gives me a reason to play hurricane
Armour breaking doesn't work on the hurricane's aoe, only on direct damage. Also, napalm rounds doesn't *convert* your damage, it *adds heat* to your damage.
I don't think I specified that, I probably should have. The primary target should be the one you focus on if you want the armor off.

@@siirvend the description says the damage increases while on air. Im assuming the ramp up stops after it hits the target. Maybe you could test it on a sandbox map if your curious whether nitroglycerin works with plasma bursters
Plasma burster is the only interesting looking overclock I have as of now, and I heard it got buffed in season 4 since the rockets will now avoid the ground.

I always revered Gunners as the heroes - what with those clutch shields and being able to turn an entire swarm into particulate faster than I can blink. But I never took them as the brainiest sorts, y'know? Seeing this thing in action though... I certainly retract my statement. Seriously, this thing puts the "tactical" in "tactical nuke". Being able to unleash a swarm of vicious little plasma Deeptora, or unleash a shotgun-like volley in a wicked, explosive sneeze... Yeah, this thing is impressive to behold. Though I can see why it takes some time at the gym to use - why the heck do they keep it under the workbench like that? You ever stub your toe on what feels like a solid brick of Tungsten?
... Makes me wish I could slap a missile platform on my LMG Turret. Yeah, the Mk.2 is a beastly little thing, but sometimes it just feels like it could do even more sometimes. An LMG Mk.3... Someone once told me I could achieve that with just a "few whacks with a wrench", but I think they were being sarcastic. (I also just felt so guilty seeing all those dents in my best friend like that!)
(One additional detail I forgot to mention that I love about your work: how every build rocks a unique framework/skin combo to fit it's "vibe". Seeing the Plasma Carbine with the purple neon was really cool, and the same goes for here - that Napalm Launcher with the cautionary red and orange hues and more overengineered appearance to it. Plus, the solid brick of Rival Tech with a splash of purple lighting looks just perfect for some Plasma Wizardry! You really put thought into every little detail, and it's amazing. :D)
You can kinda get the missile feel with turret whip on the Warthog but I definitely feel you, I want a souped up sentry with narrow FoV and shorter range to balance it. Maybe a yellow hardhat, goggles and a Texan accent too.

I prefer to use Plasma Burster Missiles with more conventional Secondaries, like Six-Shooter Bulldog or any balanced OC for BRT. And I'm thinking - is it any good to use Coil Gun w/Plasma Bursters?
Id say yeah, especially a coil gun specced out for crowd control like fear or with Hellfire. Fills the gap left by the strange primary
Armor breaking is bugged with aoe damage and won't work properly, so unless you are hitting the rockets directly there is no point in having the armor break perk.
I addressed this in the corrections video, I'm aware of the issue. The thing was, I was already hitting direct rockets to rip off armor before I knew this and it doesn't change that the mod is still doing what I want it to. Maybe not as instantaneous as it would be with AoE but it gets the job I need done, done.
12:52 the one and only reason for chain hit and magic bullets has it so they need to fix it or remove the pointless mod

I personally hate guided missiles and use overclocks to get rid of it.
Oh yeah, that one OC that cuts off the guidance (I forget it's name) seemed like it was there to do just that. I couldn't find a use for it besides that but I'm sure it's really useful for when you'd just rather not. Does allow for peeking though.

armor break doesnt work cuz it's bugged and you dont get the full intended value, it doesnt deal full damage on armor break and only partially breaks away strength and health based armor
If it is, I haven't noticed. Seems to me that the direct damage still rips the armor off but if it is totally non-functional then I hope they patch it soon since that's a bit insane. If thar happens I guess I'll be right in the future?

@@siirvend yeah that's MOBA's though. league of legends has champions that can cc you for 5 seconds straight one being able to get 11 seconds of non stop cc. DOTA is worse with like 30 second silences and other super long cc stuff. i haven't played it just told by people that have so might be less or more.
