Thank you! And thank you for watching!! Let’s hope my optimism doesn’t bite me in the tail! Haha. I will be cleaning the block and heads and doing valve job and honing myself so this should be interesting. Please subscribe if you haven’t already and tell everyone you know. I need the subscriptions!!
Wow, that brings back many bad memories of my 40 plus years in the engine building business! I'd say those front and rear main bearing aren't spun though, it looks like the locking tangs are still on, I'd bet that it's a few pistons that are stuck. It amazes me how the mice can get in the oil pan to build a nest. Good luck with it.
Thank you! Yes I think the bearings are fine. I’m digging further into it and will have a better idea on the next episode of which direction to go. I’m thinking clean it up and put it back together budget build! And thank you for watching! Please subscribe if you haven’t already.
Hey thanks for the compliment. Oddly enough when Derek first started I used to laugh cause he was saying and doing some of the same stuff I’d been doing for years. It’s great. Thanks for subscribing! Please spread the word!
I got a sized 413 for free. I filled cylinders with PB blast. Let sit a few days. Came out put long breaker bar and eased it loose. Liked watching your video. I'm thinking building a 460. 👍
doing the same to the 460 i have. came out of a jet boat. the guy said you want the whole thing it's yours free! supposed to be a 501 stroker ? good luck with yours will be a watchin!
Good luck on yours as well. I’m currently hunting parts and such. Not sure what I’m gonna do with it just yet. But it’s all in the works. Thanks for watching!
I have the bare minimum that I’ve been able to acquire over the years. Wouldn’t know how to act if I had all of the bells and whistles in my shop! Thanks for watching and thank you for the comment.
Ima about to gdt into mine thats bliwn up .looking forward to alot ppl f in house budget friendly stuff and not the 500 dollar trip to the machine shop hopefully kinda atuff .. good luck to us both.lol
I have everything except the body. I took a transfer and moved. had to sell the body. I will be bringing it back in the future. Thank you for watching and inquiring about this project!
How in the H E double hockey sticks do you get a mouse condo in the fkn oil pan!?!?😳😂😂 other than that it don't look too bad.. A bit of ATF in the cylinders might help
Yeah it’s pretty impressive that they got in there and built a metropolitan empire. Hahahah. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe if you haven’t already!
I still have it torn down. Unfortunately due to work and economic issues including the completely avoidable and intentional inflation. We have not had the time or money to finish this engine.
The 72 460 was the worst engine made of the 460. So bad it was redesigned for the 1973 year. 68-71 The best. 73 up 8:5:1 compression but workable. Good Luck with that turd, lol
@@HartRockGarage Didn't mean any disrespect on your build. The 72 heads, kinda like the 73 and up were very poor flow in the exhaust side. Not so sure about the intake side though. Maybe just do a port/gasket match and port the exhaust side will help alot. Good Luck, keep us posted on your progress please!
@@robertclymer6948it's not the flow that makes them heads bad. It's the open combustion chambers with no quench pad. Makes them very detonation prone. Even at lower compression ratios. The D3VE-A2A heads used the D0VE shape chambers that are a closed chamber with the quench pad witch helps them not have detonation issues. The later heads are just deeper chambers witch makes them more cc's. As far as flow numbers, all of them are horrible on the exhoust side. But good on the intake side & all have about the same flow capabilities. Decent when ported.
@@jesseduke694 Hello Jesse! Thanks for your info. I have heard Ben Alemeda and David Visar talk about the quench area too. I need to get a better understanding of this. Sounds like you know your engines well. I am learning and have a ways to go, but i will get there. Take care, appreciate it. Cheers and blessings from Motown/Dearborn.
@HartRockGarage no. Those are 100cc & the only open chamber heads available. One yr only. The very next yr, 73 they changed the chambers back to the old shape, just deeper. So the smog heads are D3VE-A2A & though they have a large cc chamber 95cc, they are a closed chamber design & they will have a quench pad. That is what's wrong with the heads u have, no quench pad. So the smog heads, the D3VE-A2A heads are actually better than what u have.
Your optimism is great! Most guys would have given up on the motor. Looking forward to seeing the build.

Looks fun!!
Yeah if I ever get that last piston out! Haha. Thanks for watching

My best friend had 1970 F100 hi power 460, and it was unbelievably fast
I bet it was a monster
Turn the crank valve job & rings timing chain OH gasket set. You know Summit racing has the best price OEM parts I've seen.
460 stuff is expensive everywhere
Looks like Jethro working on it
👍🏻
I got 1986 lo miles, 21352. Gonna be good.
That’s awesome. They are cool engines
Yep, a micknick on our level, without tens of thousands in equipment.

Ive messed with a few 460s in the day
Yeah they are definitely disc slippers! Thanks for watching! Please subscribe
After watching 10 of your videos for your rat rod what happened did you finish it scrap it or sell it?

What are the head casting numbers.. start with D2 or D3
They are D2VE
its a 72, one of the worst 460's ever made... only made those heads for 1 year they were soo bad...@@HartRockGarage
@WPGinterceptor460Interceptor yeah that’s what I read. The engine is from a 72 T-Bird
toss the heads.. Find a set of Dove heads or C8 or C9 heads! put those on there.. Thunderjet heads@@HartRockGarage
@WPGinterceptor460Interceptor yeah those would be great
aside from the insect nesting,
I don't see any burnt oil or any dark matter you're looking good.
Yeah it should be a good builder. The #1 piston was completely seized. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe!

Those are the worst heads ford ever made. Detonation prone. Get rid of them free
That is what I hear. 92cc chamber. Good ole emissions. Thanks for watching! Please subscribe!

Forgotten...what?
Forgotten ford 460
The 460 is a turd. Why are they killing off the FE? It won LeMans, NASCAR and NHRA. The 460 was a joke.
