One of the most tasteful drummers around. His fills are beautiful and his drums sound the way drums should sound

Totally feel it. I think if you really enjoy JDBeck, I’d suggest checking out Cleon Edwards, Mike Mitchell, Marcus Gilmore to name a few. Some drummers with a real actual unique language. Although I’d say mike Mitchell is probably one of the fastest drummers I can recall, his language is insane and unlike anyone.

I haven't heard of Cleon before but the others I am definitely familiar with. Mike Mitchell did a lot of stuff with Jon Bap, like JD, and I hear a lot of whatever Mike knows being passed down to JD. I believe they spent quite a lot of time together. Deantoni Parks is another dude who has a very advanced language.

Ash Nailed it... Too many guys are emulating their Heros and not trying to find there own voice in my opinion. Less is more.. Its guys like Ash, Darren King, Deitch I really appreciate very musical play for the song but inject their own unique style without stepping on the toes of the other guys/Gals in the Band..

I'd like to add in agreement about sounding the same...cymbals. 20 yrs ago everybody had bright cymbals. Now, one guy has a dark one and everybody's looking for dark cymbals.

In some defence, many of these if not all are just enjoying what they do regardless of influence and tuning. If you want to be perfectly unique then Good luck to you
