Probably best to apply for a 60 day visa in home country (they may take note of this?) ..then hit up the nearest Thai customs to extend another 30 days. Three months is a good enough time for me to further check out possible retirement areas…….. and while there’s still good weather check out some neighbouring countries the next few months, Thereafter return (fly in) for another 60 day visa (this time on arrival) & extend for another 30 days! Sure wish they had this last year! Cheers

I have my doubts that this will effect people who visit 5 or 6 times a year for short holidays. A lot of Koreans, Japanese, Chinese etc do it and a 2 entry limit would end that tourism overnight.
This will have more to do with people staying close to the 180 days a year but dodging the new tax system.

Nice for the long-term stayers. Absolute rubbish for the frequent Thailand visitors. I was 2 times in Thailand this year, combined 10 days, spent some good money in those days. My plan was to repeat this one more time, and that's now a no-go. Basically they send away the people who will spend the most money per day. I love Thailand, do't get me wrong, but visa-wise, I'm much better off in Cambodia. Just like the last time, I get my 6 month retirement visa. All I need is my passport, no documentation, pay the agent about 180 USD (plus the 42 for the E-type online) and done.
