Decided to start learning ASL after I couldn't communicate with some customers at my work...today two deaf women came in and I was able to have a conversation with me! They were super happy and super nice and thanked me for learning it, these videos have helped me so much!!
Thank you for making these videos. I taught myself to sign pre internet. i stopped over 15 years ago and trying to get it back. i know must of the signs but it is your talking and explaining in depth that i find so helpful. Please keep making these videos. My main problem has always been receptive. Hope to purchase your class soon to use for receptive practice.
Thanks Meredith, I have used your channel to learn ASL with my son (16) although we are still learning I have been able to sign with hearing impaired patients and their family. They are usually shocked to see a firefighter/paramedic sign to them. Awesome channel!
Awesome, really enjoying your ASL lessons. Thank you for the times that you responded back to me , in a crazy busy world. Not many take the time to get back to you. Thanks so much!💜
I use your course and I'm loving it! I'm a teacher and use some of your clips for my classroom to show my students. I can't wait to show them some from youtube as well!
It depends on the context of what you mean when you're saying "more and less" - do you mean "more or less" as in "it doesn't really matter", or are you comparing something that is "more" to something else that is "less" ? Since the 2nd (latter) example means you would want to body shift between two different spaces to compare the "more" (of something) to the "less" (of something). If you meant "more or less" as in "approximate" or "not important", then you would sign those concepts instead since you want to show the direct meaning of what you want to say, and "more or less" is an English idiom that doesn't really come up in ASL with that phrasing. - Signed, another ASL teacher (Deaf & fluent in ASL)
@@ASLSuncats Firdt, thank you for the response. 🙂🙏 What I mean is in approximately context, which in math symbolized with plus-minus sign (±), like for example in the sentence: "I drink more and less about 1 liter of water a day." So I think the sign is "more + less", isn't that right?
Good question, Lorie! If you look closely, “tend”/tend to keeps the handshape still: the flat hand with middle finger bent, the whole time, from touching torso to the space in front of it. The sign LIKE is different: it starts with the middle and thumb fingers bent inward at the torso, and as you pull your hand away the two fingers (middle and thumb) come together into a standard “8” handshape. The locations are also slightly different: TEND a bit more off center vs LIKE more centered. Hope this helps!
@@lorieguill0317 Thank you, Lorie, for the very kind response! I'm glad you find these videos helpful for learning ASL :) and am touched that you took the time to let me know. keep signing!
I really appreciate the consistency with your uploading this year. Thanks for teaching new signs to learn!!

I have a question, if I want to sign "more and less", it's just "more + less", not "more + and + less", right?

@@TuakBir Hello there - in ASL, we would use the sign for "APPROXIMATELY" or "ABOUT/ESTIMATE" in that context.
@@ASLSuncats Oh, okay then, now I know. I will look how to sign "approximately" and "about/estimate" on the internet. Thank you for the response. 🙂🙏
Thank you so much!!!
Thank YOU, Yael! :)
Yeah all your asl sample corrected spell word sign sample is good! Okay
What's the difference between tends and like? They seemed the same to me.
