Don't bother clicking the eBay link for the Topdon because it's out of stock. No point having a short timed discount offer if you can't actually buy it and I doubt they will get it back in stock before the code runs out.
Waste of time putting this link on, it’s out of stock
@ashleyperham1570 hardly was of time. Obviously so popular it sold out
@@ChopsGarage I've just searched the seller and they have now loaded more and applying a decent discount. With same discount code 👍👍
The c max is probably not selling because the 1ltr eco boost engine with the wet cam belt is a ticking time bomb.
Isn’t it called an Ecoboom?
Ecoboooooom stay away one of the worst modern engines about
@@slave2damachineBelt change does not stop all the junk in the sump filter causing oil starvation.
Yeah and 1000 quid to do it, some heap shite
No Eco bang 😂@@deanriley1284
The C max has a eco boom engine £ 900 for belt change ,just had my wife’s belts done on her B max if I had my time again I would never of bought it
The C max is the eco boom engine . Big vehicle for a 1ltr that will fail . I'd trade it on quick.
Especially after there has been a large recall in the USA for EcoBoom engine products which will further damage the brand reputation.
I'd be surprised if WBAC gives £500 for that 5 Series. In that condition it's a tricky car to retail and warranty. It's one you'd have to trade sale, so to save the time I would tell him to go to WBAC and you'll give him a tank of fuel on his new car.
Would look good online at BCA though until you pick it up 🤦♂️
Same car same miles is £4500 on auto trader so £500 paint £500 on repairs saying bca would give £500 you just look a idiot 🤣
I would say the ecoboost engine will put a lot of people off another great video James
I got the JS2000 3 months ago, worth getting over the JS1200. Last offer you had James the code didn't work. I waited & waited for another video with a code from you,but another youtuber did the offer....he was up near Manchester (No names mentioned Lee) 😉 Great jump pack & good quality.
Going from a BMW to a Dacia they are in for a shock
A lot more money left at the end of the month. Less breakdowns, too.
Indeed @@Rapscallion2009and when it comes to time to trade in ,, will most likely buy another Dacia, but certainly under no circumstances a BMW!!
Yes, they’ll have money in their pockets 😊
@@brianbickle7395 no need for a bus ticket or RAC membership anymore
I’ve owned a Sandero and I liked it but come on boys be real….is it a better car than a BMW?
You were right on getting rid of the bmw straight away because that sunroof was going to be an absolute headache and the central locking too probably. At that like age would the timing chain have ever been done as well. Guys really wanted rid of it coz it was going to cost more than the car was worth to get everything done
Timing chain shouldn't need to be done yet. It's not like a cambelt that has a mileage or years life. Chain is just mileage life and 119k is low for needing a chain.
@@ClassicTrialsChannel James said he could hear the chain rattling, so wether the chain has stretched or it's just work tensioners, no dealer in the right mind is going to chance trying to sell it with the chain rattling.
@@ClassicTrialsChannelthis BMW engine is absolutely notorious for chain problems around 100k. They even dedicated an episode of BBC watchdog to the problem. It's partly the design and partly BMW's ridiculous suggested oil change intervals.
@@ClassicTrialsChannelcertain bmw’ s don’t need chain changes unless it rattles but the 2.0 are shit after 2006
I went on a jaguar test drive day and had a go in the xk convertable supercharged, awesome.
im not surprised the 1.0l ecoboom is sticking around.. ticking time bomb
Best decision on the BMW James, it's not your core market. You would struggle to retail that and have any margin left, plus the liabilities this could bring back over 3-6 months would be huge. Sweet deal. Your Dacia customer is happy, your trader friend is happy. Win Win all round 💰💰💪💪👍👍
The trouble is everyone thinks that their car is worth far more than it really is when it comes to selling it or trading it in
Trading the BMW on was a wise decision, the C-max may not be selling because of the eco boom stigma, nice to see you back on form and buying another toy that should be a great project to follow, still think that you should get out of the TransAm money pit!
WBAC will only offer a few hundred for the BMW. Someone has had a go at sorting the central locking and failed to fix it. It looks close to scrap. It would break for quite a bit.
I wonder if some people compare Clios to Dacias - similar basis. You might end up with too many BMW's and Mercs so best to shift the estate - would have been interesting to see if you could have got more in auction. Land Cruiser and Jimny look interesting.
Nah, an old BMW with electrical problems, personally I'd run a mile away from it. I remember my mate buying one back in the early '90s, mechanicals were beautiful, electrics could never be fixed properly, little things would just randomly work then stop, then work again without any attempt to fix, ended up that even back then BMW had lots of "black boxes " that controlled things and were expensive to diagnose and replace.
Didn’t overpay for the Beemer, but did the best thing in shifting it on 👍🏻
As the seller of the Blue Dacia Logan estate, i can tell all you subscribers that James does give a good price for subscribers cars. My daughter was delighted with the price given. And it was a hassle free deal.
Thanks Phillip I appreciate this!
I've not got time to tidy up the bmw, old jag enters the chat...
😅
@@ChopsGarage only you bud, soon you'll have no room for normal cars, if it's 4 litres or above, 20 plus years old, needing loads of work your having it mate, there ain't no subes for cubes as the Americans say.
Eco bang engine it's also called 😂
That c max has the Ecoboost engine, which has a really bad reputation for going bang, so as long as you get the cambelt done you should be okay. You have been selling plenty of cars, so keep upt he good work
How do you get into the cars when they are only 15-20 cm apart?
TOPDON purchased for £56.39 on eBay - thanks James 👍
Enjoy it
£800 is a fair offer James, O/S/R quarter needs sorting and being silver blended in, Electrics need sorting, Aux tensioners need sorting and what about the timing chain? And it looks a pretty neglected dog of a car IMO. Glad you got a few ££ trading it on 👍 What's the spec on that Landcruiser?
Great video, looking forward to the XKR content
Definitely the Eco Boom engine in the ford that will make it hard to sell.
Buying any car, including a new car, is a gamble. Do your research. Pay your money and make your choice.
we buy any car will reduce that price by at least 300/£500 anyway plus there fees
£700-£800 tops to trade out as it needs too much work. That arch looks like it’s got some filler wobbles you’d have to sort out.
The Cmax is because it's a wet belt known as eco booms my brother has one of the wetbelts nightmare to service it
The thing with those 1 litre ecoboosts is they are fine when it's just you in the car but load them down with a family and dog and luggage and you have to rag the nuts off them to get moving. I've had a few rental cars with that engine. Four fat blokes in a Focus (including me) going up a hill wasn't much fun.
I put a skoda auto in cheap as it went into limp mode, advertised it at 500,well phone went mad, 2500 views day 1,but as you say they don't want faults, anyway sold it for 500,scrap was 250 so it was better than that.
thee C max could be sticking because of the Eco Boost engine and the Wet Belt that will need changing soon. ford say 15 years or 150000 but they are snapping long before they ever get to that age. to replace the wet belt is a big job that requires specialised tools to do and it is a very expensive job l was the original blue oval fan boy but l wouldn't own a car with that motor if l was having to pay the bills
We buy any car really reduce their offer once you start listing issues with a car, down to a couple of hundred so you paid more than they would have done
Agreed Sarah
That Topdon is a bargain....used the js2000 the other day started my forklift instantly!
Tailgate problems and panoramic roof cost ££££. Plus if you take it on people will want a new timing chain. Its a 520 SE so not that desirable.
James BM at the moment about £400 at auction plus fees everyone keeping away from big engines and tax brackets
Provided there is a solid service history I would buy the bmw for £1800 and I would do the repairs and paint myself. As a dealer to make money you would not want to pay more than £1200?
early eco boom engines are now being recalled to fix the prob with them
Most I’d pay is £800, Not worth the hassle of fixing, Get it straight out the door trade 🥴
Is the 1.5 eco boost as unreliable as the 1.0 ?
Based on your short video of that silver BMW estate, and the fact it's an old BMW, if I was in your shoes, I'd give at little in part ex for it as I could and then auction it off as quickly as I could.
Why does this customer want to make such a massive downgrade anyway?? BMW to Dacia?? Something tells me he knows that BMW is trouble and they want out of it ASAP.
Downsizing from a high road tax car to lower tax bracket I would say But the BMW is only worth £1000 due to bodywork and wiring
To be fair, maybe you have a point about the difference in road tax, but part of me still suspects the BMW is trouble in the making. If I was a dealer and took that BMW in part ex, I'd want rid of it ASAP.
@@01matthewc Well James passed it on and made a small drink out of the deal Peronally I would never buy a BMW I don't like the very low seating position and that old joke about the indicators is because the indicator stalk is actually a very bad design In my opinion 🙂 It cancels as soon as you use it Well it did in my sisters BMW anyway
@@01matthewc Of course the owner wants rid of it, it's an old, tatty BMW diesel with multiple technical issues - It's only matter of time until it drops someonea monster sized bill.
@@FatHead1979Spot on 👍👍
In that condition the 5 series about £1200 providing it drives well BMW are very expensive to repair
995 knowing the way you work!
Having to pay VAT on used cars even if only on the traders margin is disgraceful. Govt already gets full wedge of VAT in the new car why should they collect again and again every time it is moved on
Yes imagine a 5 owner car at say 15 yes old that's gone through dealers. Could of generated near it's entire new value in vat but I still have potholes everywhere
What's that stuff u put on the headlights a few times it's like oil based
Yes Owtrol, in my amazon shop bud
Thanks as always for watchable video. 👍👍👍👍
My sisters BMW which was in a lot better condition but a petrol estate 08 registration year she was offered £900 from two or three traders She sold it privately for £1600 She was honest with its faults which were coil pack related which she had renewed about two weeks prior to the sale Her car used to throw up fault codes about once every two months So she wasn't confident on the repair resolving the issue I think at £1000 you would be generous due to wiring and body issues
Sounds fair
50p for that knackered old bmw!
with the bmw mileage and the cost of DPF filters etc a £1000 seems fair, otherwise they should sell it to we buy, by the time they finish he will be paying them
If u got
a bag of sand for it of trade sale u never overpaid for it fair play good price given its electrical problems someone confident it's a cheapish fix
Cheers
Guessed at £1000, and for sure trade it out to get rid of any comebacks on it. If you haven’t got the time, makes sense to.
Love the channel James..
If ever you get anything with Spain plates either LHD or RHD I gladly take it if you don’t know what to do with it…
(Retired car trader very much like yourself living the sunny life 😂)
A lot less as We Buy Any Car will deduct once they see the bodywork.
Not just the bodywork, they would pick it to pieces. I sold a Toyota to them a few years ago, they even tried to knock me down on the clear vinyl protection on the front edge of the rear arches, until I told them it's standard fitment! What they didn't spot though was that the head gasket had gone 😂
I don't think you've put the milage on C Max listing which might be the issue!
It's on Autotrader and Facebook that's where there sell not te site
Well if EVERYONE says it, it must be true😂😂😂
How dare you try and rip off bondo Billy dodgy git!,
Webuyanycar always gives the lowest valuation anyway. Then they try and knock you down. Not a great benchmark.
Sadly the c max the engine will be a sticking point. The engines aren’t as bad as people make out. The amount sold vs the amount of issues is no worse than a bmw timing chain or VW burning valves on the small engines.
The big issue is the 1.0 in a car that size isn’t upto the job. 1 person in the car it’s fine. Put your family and luggage in its border line dangerous in how it accelerates
Wbac we're full yesterday of late(69 plate) cars, be some upset people
It looks like that BMW has LHD wipers… don’t they convert everything to RHD ..? 😮
I would only give £595 BMW PX
The price on the 5 series was about right, the amount of little things that will need to be done for a retail sale will grind you down; nothing more expensive than a cheap luxury car.
thanks for the heads up on the topdon just used the code cheers
Nice one
Tried the link says out of stock
We buy any car will reduce that price significantly. £1200 is reasonable, Sue
1k too many problems apparent to make it a retail car and safe to assume it will have mechanical issues. Don't pay more than what another trader might offer.
1.0 Litre Ford EcoBoost not shifting....punters ain't daft.
we buy said £1,600 without seeing it!!!, tatty with electrical issues, paint work issues not doubt has oil leaks i would not offer anymore than £500 on a good day.
I would immediately be suspicious of a vehicle presented for trade in in such a dirty state. It tells me a lot about how it has been treated by the seller.
Lot of people commenting seem to think it's 1970 for what they expect to pay for maintenance 🤷🏻
How much for the white Mercedes estate ?
11995
Don't let minis go flat mate, they loose their immobiliser coding and you'll need a bmw scanner to enter the e prom code.
Ohh, cheers mate
@@ChopsGarage yeah bud, I left one the other week, no start, scanner said e prom code but couldn't do it, my mate who does BM, s came and entered it, easy enough when you know how.
BMW 520 estate is £1200 👍
BMW Estate - Wouldn’t pay any more than £1675. Who’d present a car for part x without a wash? 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
For the BMW in that condition I'd offer about £650-£750
You could have had a handy lad on the BM for a day bud fir say 80 quid, cleaning it up, doing a few bits, you'd have got 2k then.
👌👌
As a dealer. Personally I wouldn't give more that £500 for that Beamer
1k on px would need a lot for retail , tbh i wouldnt want it so id
get shot asap (bmw). I also wouldnt want the ecoboom
Real echo chamber on eco boom. Anyone got something new to say on that one??
@@GlennPowell-ls3lg I’m asking if there’s any other opinions out there. That’s all nothing more. Oddly you’ve repeated the same message as everyone else. I expect too much 😂
Another good video James 🚘🚙🚗👏👏⭐️⭐️👍👍
Thanks 👍
😊 I was close
GooLoo 4000 is a better jumpack imo for 100quid and I start range rovers without a battery even being on the car with them.
Whole lot worth 20k max
Wbac will offer £0.50 for that.
Regarding the BMW, I reckon you should offer the guy a lift back from the We Buy Any Car dropoff point.
Lol
@@ChopsGarageI did that with a customer, a 64 plate yeti, bad box, wbac gave him 1750 and I picked him up, tbh I should have bought it and had box done but they'd said 2400, when he came out he'd only got 1700,he had a ssangyong off me for 2 and a half, nice thing but you can't get any parts, I needed a leg and ssangyong wanted 600 plus for one, anyway I ran the ssangyong thru wbac and they said 1200(!) anyway he's happy with the ssangyong, a nice thing, leather, bright orange, diesel, euro ulez, just hope he never needs any bits for it.
@@roystonvehicles9129 yep could get no one to do that box on swansong for me. Yetis do trolly well here, 10 plates with 100k still 6k
@@ChopsGarage yes bud, it'd done 175k but 1700 for a 64 plate, saw one at auction, same miles 3 and a half.
Wbac would be at 600,less doc fees, so 550 on that bmw, there top price is hardly ever achieved, place is a total con, in fact I went past the Barnsley branch, bca transports outside, at to bca at brighouse, vallet and their auctioneer will push it to top price, then it's fees on top so it'll probably cost a trader 2400,min, original customer looses, trader probably has to work hard to get out of it, having said that, bca, wbac, cinch lost 17 million last year....
I can't understand how they loose, can't be from the WBAC and auction model as that's just clear profit , 400 quid in fees on a car you are also making 400 quid on from your WBAC pitch!
@@ChopsGarage well it's the parent group overall bud, wbac, bca and cinch, I've noticed wbac bids are even lower now so they'll probably not survive, bca has such a bad rep, that's the problem there and these on line disrupters, cinch, cazoo have had it, cazoo won't survive this year.
The bmw is worth scrap money , £250
Your going to have to spend money to get it right and you can guarantee it’s hasn’t been maintained well mechanically it’s a big risk
Just ordered the top don jump pack
Thanks for discount code, much appreciated 👍
Hope you enjoy it!
I think you offer a comprehensive and fair service,I would definitely buy a car ftom you up here in Glasgow
Many thanks
Hyundai i30 brilliant car
800
800, not a penny more, it's a money pit and probably due cam chain [ N47]
BMW money was spot on. There was £400 in paint, before anything else. Confusing about your Ford C-Max. I'm in the same situation. I've got a 64 plate Kuga TDCi 4x4 Titanium that is advertised cheapest like for like on Autotrader, and I have not had one enquiry on it. Full history and MOT.
the BMW was a real beater and you did well to get out of it on the good side. if you made a couple of quid on the deal then happy days but you did right not to try and retail it. the 2010 N47 is not the best engine in the world and has the worst timing chain in the world
People can be wrong but everyone can't be wrong...
"Everyone was wrong about him" , heard it often
I think a £1000 was all the bmw was worth especially a manual
A rip-off is when you are forced to sell something at a price you're not happy with. If you are made an offer for something it's upto you if you want to except it. This is not a rip-off 😂
