That Doblo is a rare car with that spec and a good colour. There are not many for sale so even just a few underpriced or overpriced ones advertised on Autotrader will affect the autotrader average guide price hence the volatile guide prices you’ve seen. Your customer has got a good deal
Would you rather buy a (Autotrader) GOOD price car for £8k with several owners iffy history, advisory ridden MOT, dinks & dents etc or the same spec (Autotrader) HIGHER price for £8.5k that is as well prepared as your cars are? We sell plenty of (Autotrader) HIGHER price cars because we prep them really well and customers get why they're more expensive. Don't let Autotrader rule your business model, believe in what you do and get the profit you deserve.
My thoughts exactly - I would be comparing it to similar cars manually then if the one I was selling was clearly in better condition I'd be going for a higher price and explain that in the description
You can let Autotrader dictate your job to much, If your car is dead right, colour, mileage, condition, we need to keep the confidence of our convictions you bought that car knowing what you wanted to ask do it and stick with it. Remember the valuations that Autotrader come up with fluctuate as cars come and g and if there's a small number of examples that movement can be dramatic today Doblos with less than 60k and 2016- 2017 there's only 11 one of which is yours, two right offs in the mix will drop that valuation markedly, but the man who wants a minter won't entertain a shitter and yours will always be the nice one.
I drove an earlier 1.3 diesel Doblo some years ago and I really loved it, which is from someone who isn't inclined to buy Italian cars, but I thought it was much nicer than the Berlingo of similar age.
I wouldn't worry too much about up and down autotrader valuations, you sell really easily down there, just put your price on it and try it for a few weeks, I don't think your customers really want to know about prices fluctuating, they'll be more interested in other things tbh.
These Doblo’s are common for top mounts and snapped springs, but I’ve also had springs distort on them and catch the body! Only car I’ve ever seen it happen on.

I love you optimism of the 1 hour cool down 😂. But general rule is 6 hours to class as a cold start. That is the timing used on government testing engines especially diesels can retain their heat for ages! Have you thought about trading the electric Kia to Lovely car Co or shifting metal?
I think your spot on regards the Doblo, as a former car trader I keep an eye on current trends. Car camping has become a real thing in summer 24, it'll probably keep rising in value b4 School holidays end. Perhaps a link up with a camper conversion company?, or just stocking a few small camper vans next year? Just a thought, Cheers.
A sub £4k Fabia estate will be a good machine. There's 3 different power outputs - 75, 90 or 105 - so check which you have as it may affect your asking price. I think they all have the same cheap road tax too
That Doblo is such a great shape , really good design . Rear space must be so usefull...And the colour suits the shape....Bet you,ll sell another one ,, if you can get one like this

I think you're overthinking the asking price and being too reactive . For cars that sell well in your area you need to be asking a premium and looking less at Auto trader prices that are like you say an average taken across the whole of the UK.
I can't imagine in the US any dealer ever bothering with a timing belt. Labor over here is too expensive and the consumer rights are very limited on used cars. No mandatory warranty or return period. there's no incentive to fix them up perfect or do preventive maintenance. They'll fix obviously broken things and change the oil, but that's about as good as it gets
You should have hit them hard on the PX price for the Fabia estate to make up for the £700 market price improvement on the Doblo, I bet they would have agreed to it as they want shot of the Fabia to get the Doblo!

Cars will sell themselves on condition and presentation, you seem to have no problem with either of these, going by your videos. All the best.

Your point at 08:24 is exactly why auto trader valuations are utter nonsense. I've seen cars with new clutches priced less than others on auto trader precisely because their system is defective. Auto trader also defeats competition in the trade as pretty well everyone falls back on the auto trader valuation which as stated is flawed.

I scratched my nose at a local car auction which was empty on a Summers day. Ended up winning a Mokka for £1400 plus fees, took the hit and it drives fine with no issues . Sold it for £2995, about 500 under Auto Trader price so that nose scratch made me £1250 lol
James you've made a serious cock up with your maths on the cam belt. If you're giving them an extra £150 on the px AND not charging them the £150 for the cam belt, you are now £300 out of pocket. For what you were proposing to work, you'd have needed to have give them £150 LESS than We Buy Any Car.
You needed to give them 150 less in p ex for them to make a contribution, looks like youve sold it way under at retail, put a belt on it and allowed another 150 quid, wbac quotes are never upheld, I've dropped 3 off for customers and despite being correctly described they reduced the bid, on one a 64 plate yeti, bit leggy but nice car from 2450 to 1750,guy said "that's what the computer says" so basically giving a wbac price is more than genorous, p exs need to come in at a firm trade price, any more and it's out of the deal, a lot more and your just buying business, if it's a nice p ex tho and some (?) are it's worth it not to have to source a car, if it's a nail you've got to hit em hard, there's cam belt issues are coming up all the time for you these days, what about your mate doing one in a day in house? prior to sale, kits are usually say 80 quid, do a proper receipt showing, or as I've done a photo showing work in progress, I'd get everything done 100% in belt, put your price on it and you'll get it, saves all that up and down your doing, I bet if you we 100% sorted on that fiat you'd have done better, probably a higher price and less in p ex. I understand dealers being reluctant to spend incase it's traded out, but that hardly ever happens once your retail ready, I don't show people anything until I've done what I'm going to do. Saves loads of explaining and messing about, imho anyway.
Doblos of that generation are pretty bombproof with the 1600 engine, they also did the 1.4 fire engine petrol which is brilliant too Theirs a really rare 1.9 diesel that feels a lot more grunty, the most common engine is the 1.3 that's terrible and was never good enough If you want this generation of doblo but cheaper...buy the vauxhalls combo, same van different badge but because it's a vauxhall the price is much less
Went to see a Hyundai i30 private sale recently. Johnny was trying to sell a car on auto trader that had 2 & half years finance still owed on it . Wanted me to pay him first so he could clear his finance .... dead on mate , that didn't happen
Even if he did you can't import it until it is 25 model years old or older or agree to use it exclusively as a show car and not drive it on public roads.

The Dublo is near criminally underrated as a "everyday use" car. It's exactly what cars would like if the world was sensible about them.

I had a fiat cubo when moving house ! It was the best most useful practical car I’ve ever owned , similar to the doblo 💪🏼👍
