This helps me a little bit with my "fear" of buttonholes.

Thanks so much, I hate doing buttonholes on any material other than thin cotton, as they always stop short of the required length. Now I know what that slider is for. Cheers.

This is the BEST tutorial I've ever seen regarding button holes. Just amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Does the Janome 6550 come with the plate?

Glad it was helpful! Yes, the 6550 includes the buttonhold stabilizer plate.

Please tell me why my buttonhole foot (and keep in mind that my machine does a 1 step buttonhole), sews perfectly normal but some of the zigzags stitches skip completely. This occurs only on the left long side of the rectangle buttonhole shape. Sometimes the left side of the rectangle will only sew a straight line! 😭
I've tried needle swapping, setting changes, using interfacing, etc.
My fabric is a medium weight slightly stretchy, cotton fabric. It might be similar to cotton...I do not know what the fabric actually is.
I would be so grateful for some help. Thank you!

It would be helpful to know what machine model you have to offer suggestions. Does the machine skip stitches on other stitches or just buttonholes?

@@SuperStitchSewingMy model of machine is a Singer Heavy Duty 4432, and it is brand new.
Besides straight stitch, most of the other stitches that require a zigzag formation of the needle, tend to either skip 2-3 stitches at a time or simply sew a straight line altogether. I noticed too, that on the basic zigzag stitch setting, the thread only punctures and stays put in the fabric once the needle moves over to the right side. Is this helpful information?

How do you get it to do the row of straight stitching backwards first before it comes back down with the zigzag? Mine just goes straight into the zigzag and doesn't always turn round at the back end - it just carries on.

Which machine do you have? Not all machines do the straight stitch first.

Does the MC15000 have the same buttonhole features? Thankyou. New to your videos and really love them!

Yes, the 15000 would be the same as the M7. All Janome machines would be the same, although not all come with the stabilizer plate and have the option to adjust the slit width.

My Juki HZL only has a auto button holer which snags😤 every other hole. It doesn’t even have the settings to do a manual hole. Any suggestions ❓❓🙏🏽

Wendy, Sorry I am not familiar with your machine. Maybe check the bottom of the foot to see if there is something catching on the fabric.
