Why do we act like menstruation is unhygienic when the blood literally exists to protect fetuses while developing in the womb....? As women, we should be at the forefront of this understanding. Not saying I know wether it works on skin or not, or anywhere else, but you didn't even bother going into the science. Just rolled with the disgust and didnt even bother entertaining it on a scientific level.... Was sort of sad to see.

@@LiesaPinkBunny Not really creepy. If you are a person who has had a period, you surely know the average brownish red tone of the blood that comes with the period. Athough not every body is the same, in general it's not usually so pinkish red, it looks like the Peeling Solution from TO.
Period blood can be a brownish red, cranberry red or more purplish/pinkish it all depends on your progesterone/estrogen levels, look up Alisa Vitti talking about it. So sure, it could be blood, or could be something else.

As a teenager, for years, I used an "acne toner" that contained 70% pure ethanol. Back then it was recommended to me by an actual derm(!). Now I know how harmful it was...

Needless to say, my skin was DESTROYED by that.

Indonesian here. About the last video it is once a thing in my country that smear your face w/ period blood can help clear your acne. I know that make no sense at all, but many older generation (especially from countryside) believe about those thing and often told the young generation (like me) who struggling w/ acne to just use the period blood. But nowadays skincare product are more accessible so that belief are started to faded.

I felt that girl's pain at 3:49. When I was a teen my mom told me all I needed to do was scrub my face with Dove and then put Sea Breeze on it. Needless to say my sensitive acne prone face did not agree lol.

Well it's an astringent so it's not meant for being rubbed on your face. It's mainly used to sanitize skin and clean wounds.

Quasil is amazing! I have been using it for a while now on my hair, as a face mask and to treat pimples overnight, it works, you have to try it out

i didn’t know the name of it but i brought it from el salvador years ago and used it for my hair and my brother used it for his cystic acne as a gentle cleanser and it helped so much. I’ve also used it on my dog when he had a skin rash.

I have used qasil all my life. As a child my mom used as hair mask on me. As a teenager i used it to clear my acne. Qasil is made from leaves of a tree called Gob ( Ziziphus Jujube) which also has sweet fruits kind of look like the yellow cherries but taste different obviously. Qasil is great hair and face mask
Hair: qasil was used as shampoo by somalis. It cleans the scalp and detangle the hair with it's slip texture. It softens the hair also.
Face: it cleanse and detoxify the skin. It also fights against black and white head. It tight the skin like a clay mask so do not use more than twice a week for acne fighting usage and once a week for maintenance.
In general qasil a natural and wonderful skin and hair care secret used by Somalis for thousands of yeasr a beauty regiment.

Somali girl here! Yes, she’s right about qasil, and we have used it for thousands of years, but where i’m from in Somalia, I’ve seen it used a bit differently too. I’ve always seen it and been taught to use it as face mask once a week and not necessarily a cleanser. We use it alone and mixed with other ingredients in a mask too.

Qasil contains Saponine a subgroup of glucoside, these are known to have hemolytic properties and should be used with care accordingly. This is the reason why saponine containing herbs like the saponaria officinalis that is common on the Europasian continent is no longer used in skin care.
It IS useful in medicine though and saponins as well as other ingredients in this plant are commonly used for various purposes. I would not use the plant though, as plants have a tendency to have, too many different ingredients that you don't want, a purified and standardized product is usually safer and more effective.
Another issue is, that the gob tree is a food source, over harvesting its leaves and bark to meet western demands could destroy these trees, that take years befor they bare any fruit. I fear there is an ethical issue that could hurt communities a lot.

@@hannajung7512 Basically what your saying but Saponines are only very dangerous when you apply them parenteral (is that the english term?) but I‘m not sure if the molecule could actually penetrate your skin when you use is as a „wash“. I‘m from Europe and there are quite some plant based drugs that are used especially because they contain saponines, for example a type of ivy is the main ingredient for a cough syrup (It’s called Prospan)🤷🏼♀️

Qasil powder smells like matcha to me but it truly makes your face feel smooth because they are supposed to balance oil levels. I personally like it, which I use once a week. There are people who get instant results [well after three uses]. I don't know if it works for everyone but it is something that is worth trying.
Please look up “Saponines“ and what they can do. They are what makes this stuff foam and cleanse your skin.
I would not use them, the can cause Anemia.
We Indian's have something like this called soap nut powder. It's meant to be used on the hair only

I just had surgery for my wisdom tooth. Oh boy, I couldn’t touch my face and cleanse properly for a week. No skincare routine for almost 10 days. I can feel her pain 😢

i think what they meas is UV ight, there are other ´´types´´ of light that could potentially be beneficial, since the light that they showed was red im guessing they are using infra red waves to stimulate collagen production.

@@jannettevdl881 there was a recent hype around “blue light“ and other visible wave lengths. Claiming, that visible light could age your skin.
In the spectrum of light uv and visibke lights are different from each other so they didn't mistaken visible light for uv light. Taking note that they claim that visible light will age your skin it comes across as ironic since they are saying the visible light mask will prevent aging. I could be wrong im not an expert just saying what's on my stupid mind😂

I actually tried the zitsticka patches and would recommend them to anyone with cystic acne, they also sell ones that are for pimples that are still under the skin
Back in high school I had a friend who was studying to become a MUA and an esthetician.
At a sleepover she offered to give all of us facials which of course we accepted. Everything was fine until she started using this toner that literally made our faces burn. Another girl and I asked her what she was using and she said “before I tell you look at how much gunk I got out of your pores! It works so well!”
Nail polish remover…this girl used non acetone nail polish remover on our freaking faces 😳
Don’t get me wrong it definitely pulled something out of my pores but it also dried my skin out for a week! The other girl who said something had a way worse reaction than me, she had two burns on her, one on her forehead and cheek.
Even though this happened years ago I still have major trust issues with other people touching my face. I didn’t go back to another esthetician till 2 years ago and I’m in my late twenties 😅

If a product says "leaves skin *looking* _____" instead of listing what it actually does to help... that's a bad sign.
I wouldn't use Sea Breeze for my regular skincare, but one thing it works really well for is taking off "greasepaint"/theatrical makeup. Regular makeup remover and cleansers won't touch that stuff and you end up with seriously blocked pores. I use the Sea Breeze, immediately follow up with a mild cleanser then a good moisturizer. Also, that girl was being seriously overdramatic (probably for views) about how it feels on the skin. At worst I've ever had is a tingle but she was acting like she'd used sulphuric acid or something.
I feel so sorry for their skin 😭

That girl and the Sea Breeze was 100% me. I only had my dad and he would buy me a new bottle every month (attempting) to help me and my acne as a kid/ teen. We love a helpful dad but I am also grateful that skin care has come such a long way from this. 😂

Everything started with the menstrual cup. Since it's not getting absorbed as it happens with tampons, they decided to start using it like this... I do use the menstrual cup, but damn, this is- a lot.

My mom is 69 and still uses Sea Breeze every day! 😆 I keep telling her this is not helping her fine lines and wrinkles. Yep I havnt used sea breeze since I was a teen.
Sea Breeze has been around forever, but I didn't think anyone used it anymore. A relative recommended it to me when I was a teenager, and I enjoyed the tingling sensation at the time, and thought drying out your skin was the best way to treat and prevent acne. When I was a kid and certainly when my parents' generation were kids, we kind of relied on word-of-mouth to make skincare decisions. It's frustrating that in the age of the internet with dermatology experts offering skincare advice for free, that silly and potentially harmful advice still gets perpetuated.

In the Philippines, a lot of old people perpetuated this idea that the first time you get your period, you should use it on your face to prevent acne. I didn’t do it, but I remembered being really bummed out that I didn’t know beforehand lol. Thankfully I never attempted anything like that but I know a lot of people who did.

I am from Saudi Arabia, I think we also have the same green powder but with a different name called sidr, it is very popular in our country as a cleanser and it actually helps in treating acne and skin problems, it's a bit drying but it's amazing for the skin.
The powder from the gob tree is used from Asia to Africa, everywhere where this trees grow.
In Europe we once used a similar powder made out of a herb. It is no longer in use, because Saponines which are the chemicals causing the foaming and cleansing can cause Anemia.

@@f.m.m6706 the working ingredients, that are cleaning and foaming are saponines, a group of chemicals that are part of the family of glucosides. They are known to destroy red blood cells by contact (what is called being hemolytic) by doing this they can cause bleeding and anemia. They are used in medicine to treat some issues, but because of the possible side effects when the bypass the skin barrier (for example when used on damaged skin) they are not used in cosmetics, instead other Glucosides are used.
To which degree this applies to quasil is not easy to say. There are no studies about it, I could not find the exact amount and type of saponines that is in this trees leaves (from which quasil is made)
But I would not take a risk with over prized ground up dryed leaves, since there are treatments available that have been demonstrated to work.
Especcially since the gob tree is a slow growing tree that serves as a food source for the Somali people. Harvesting the leaves and barks from these trees to satisfy a western beauty hype could seriously damage those trees and by this the food source for many people.

I never knew that people back home used the gob tree as a source of food, that’s a good ethical point. Ive used Qasil sporadically, and I haven’t seen an issue. @@f.m.m6706 you know, I think as long it is used by the people that are of this culture, like yourself, the risk of over exploitation is relativly small, since those harvesting, selling and buying all depend on the trees. But if something like this is opened to the world economy whole forests get wiped out. Because suddenly those who sell the leaves and bark have no interest in preserving healthy fruit bearing trees. If the tree dies out, well, then the company finds another product to sell.
And for the health risks. I am really not sure, but considering that it is marketed as a clean risk free alternative I think it is necessary to point out, that saponins are not without risk and that there is testing to be done.
This is why I don’t put everything on my face! Even some makeup’s can cause your face to break out real bad and yet you pile more makeup on to avoid the issue

Please please PLEASE review the Hanacure mask! It is 100% cruelty free and I’ve used and purchased 2 boxes - it actually worked wonderfully on my skin, but it is very pricey. The product that the girl's dad recommended was Seabreeze. It is a very 80s product. It was unfortunate then and it still is.
The astringents are so harsh they sting your eyes when applying them.

I used to use that burning stuff, back when I was a teen. It dried me out really bad, but took off my dollar store gothic raccoon makeup.
What has done the most at clearing up my skin was discovering my wheat sensitivity then cutting it out. If I eat anything contaminated with even just wheat based vinegar, my pores plug up and I get sores all over my scalp.
(I'm most likely reacting to Amylase-trypsin inhibitors, not gluten, vinegar does not retain wheat gluten)
Sea Breeze is REALLY old school. My older sisters used that in the 60’s and 70’s. It was like putting straight rubbing alcohol on your face.
