  • I changed the 12mm blade on my Parkside bandsaw to a 3mm .
I bought the 1/8” blade from saw masters in the UK.
Bandsaws are dangerous please get expert advice before using one and always read the manual - I’m not an expert, DIY is my hobby and these are just my views, opinions and thoughts.

Good choice Rob the 1/8"th blade for fine work. The bandsaw blade needs to be tracked so when running the teeth are in front of the side blade guides as there is no back to front adjustment
on them on your machine. Then adjust the side guides so they just missing the bandsaw blade body behind the teeth on either side. Lastly adjust the rear thrust bearing so its just missing the
rear of the bandsaw blade. Then when cutting pressure is applied to the the bandsaw blade it will run against the rear thrust bearing preventing it being pushed backwards off the pulleys and/or
the side blade guides knocking your set off the bandsaw blades teeth and blunting it. This may be the reason your machine says 6mm or 1/4" inch minimum blade width. If you're unable to to
run your blade with the teeth in front of the side guides you may have to modify them, file the guides away at the front to clear the tooth set or make some wooden guides. Hope this helps. Tony

Hi Tony , good advice there mate, yeah that has given me more confidence on how I’m going to set this up, really like your idea of modifying the guide pins, I think I’ll do that and use them only when using the 1/8” blade. Cheers Rob

I think it might work a wee bit differently on different saws but on mine I fit the blade, nip the blade tension up a bit and then rotate the upper wheel by hand a few times. That usually allows the blade to find the crown on the tyre on its own, ie the 'equilibrium' position for the blade. Once you're sure it's made itself comfortable you can tighten the blade to the tension suggested by the manufacturer and set your guides after that. Set the saw going for a few seconds and recheck the guides. It might be a good idea to check again after the first proper job with a new blade - everything takes time to settle. Good wee vid Rob, you're really getting the hang of this now! Love that fat pencil too! Cheers mate.

Well, done Rob: it’s amazing what you’ve done by just getting that narrow blade into the “toy” bandsaw! 😃. I think with these little ones debates about the position of blade on tyre is a bit moot? just Getting it to stay on without shedding the blade is the main thing?! I,thought the textbook way was to have the back of the gullet just forward of the central high point of he tyre and the guides as close as you can get them without actually touching- and the side pins just behind the gullet so it doesn’t rub the teeth ….. not easy on the toy saws…. 😃👍

Cheers mate, and good advice 👍 same as I was thinking.. I’m gonna get the blade slightly forward to clear the the teeth of the pins, the only way I think it’s possible on these tiny bandsaws . Parkside bandsaws are ok, but certainly quite limited on blade clearance accuracy. Next one will have the bearing guides 😜👍 and I’ll work upto your beast of a bandsaw 😆 Cheers Rob

Why don't I have one of these??? Sweet and nice job. Parkside is Lidl?

👍you should mate, but sometimes worth paying a little extra, one with bearing guides is better, the guide pins aren’t upto much. But certainly good for the money👍 yeah it’s a lidl jobby! Cheers Rob

Hum. Interesting. My saw has three wheels. Ugh. But I try not to swap blades too much. 🤓 Amazing shed. For a shed it seems quite large.

How are you satisfied with this saw? Could the 12mm be used for resawing reliably?

Good channel thanks for the vids. I just got a cheaper parkside bandsaw today. It’s a different model to yours though called “PBS 350 B2”
Don’t know if there is any difference in the variation of model numbers. If anyone knows would be great. Thanks 🙏🏼
