Fun video. I guess I'll throw in one of my unpopular opinions : I don't believe the Danganronpa 2 cast is the best one. Don't get me wrong, there are a bunch of fun and/or interesting characters in there, but some people act as if the second game's cast is miles better than the other two, but each one has its strengths and weaknesses to me. The SDR2 cast's weakness in my opinion is that they rely too much on FTEs to be fully fleshed-out characters, and without them they can come off as very one-note at times. Kazuichi, Akane, Mikan(to an extent) and Nekomaru are some of the characters that I believe this applies to. But feel free to disagree. It's just my opinion.
Honestly I agree. I think a lot of people just likes SDR2 cast more or objectively see them as above the other 2 cast is because they had an anime. An anime that wasn't just a recreation and watered down version of the games story. I also agree with how most of them come off as one sided until *their* chapter comes in. ie. Hiyoko, who was starting to forgive Kuzuriyu (I think that's how you spell his name? idk it's been 2 years man) but then literally dies in the same chapter.
Bruh i agree. The dr2 cast feels like it doesn’t have a lot of different personalities when you think about the game as a whole. If i were to think of dr1 i would think of mondo, chihiro, kyoko, Celeste, it would all feel unique. If i were to think of drv3 then i would think of how many different personalities there are like kaito, kokichi, tenko, angie. The dr2 cast the characters that stand out personality-wise would be mikan nekomaru and possibly teruteru. Thanks for reading my whole rant :)
I think this is an unpopular opinion: Makoto has more of a personality than Hajime; that is, Hajime seems closer to the "project your thoughts and feelings onto them" sort of protagonist than Makoto. In a given situation, we could more accurately guess how Makoto would act than Hajime. This makes Makoto the more interesting one in my opinion.
Unpopular opinion (s): Maki should have been the culprit in ch.5, because I feel like it would have made for a way more tear jerker, with kaito AND Maki dying. That would probably have had WAY more of an impact on Shuiuchi. Also, Mikans execution I feel like the fan service is supposed to remind mikan of all the trama that she went through, putting as much despair on to the situation for mikan as possible.
That's actually a very interesting way to look at Mikan's execution! Though I still can't get over at the fact that her execution more so looked like she escaped since we never see her be hurt physically, and was just sent to.. space?

Unpopular opinion: Despair Disease is the best motive in DR2 (if removed it from the context in which it was executed). Think about it: we learn more about their intrinsic selves and it fits well with AI Enoshima’s plan to kill as many people off as quickly as possible. It also foreshadows their Despairing selves.
Unpopular opinion: Chiaki is overrated. Don't get me wrong, I like her but.. I feel like her character was written purposely to *be* liked by the players, playing into the dream gamer girl. Otherwise her sacrifice wouldn't feel as impactful as it was. Though I'll give them credit for doing this in a subtle and natural way that doesn't feel too forced. (not really an unpopular opinion) An unpopular opinion that i have is that i think it would be very cute of Tenko, Himiko, and Angie all started a little club together. He claims he is able to read through anyones lies and calls them out for said lies.. when its convenient- I fully believe that if Kokichi called EVERYONE out on their lies then Kirumi would have won her trial! She ended up getting caught because Shuichi had a hunch and lied about hearing or not hearing(I forgot which one) Kirumi leave her room and the others were in a place where you could/couldn't(i forgot) obviously hear them. This is the lie that literally is the reason she got focused on and in the trial it even just shows Kokichi just looking at the screen and just- letting Shuichi's lie go by but then when Kirumi lies, he is instantly on her! Personally Kirumi is a better liar than Shuichi so you can't just say "oh maybe he didnt notice" NO the game fully shows you Kokichi going blank and letting Shuichi's lie go without any repercussion
I think either Kokichi wanted to see what would happen, he didn't expect Shuichi to lie and knew no one would believe him anyway, or maybe he also suspected Kirumi as the blackened Completely respect your opinion tho, just wanted to try and explain what I think was happening
unpopular opinion: Nagito is annoying. I love SDR2, it’s my favorite game from the series. But I’ll probably never replay it because it feels like Nagito is giving a speech about hope every other second. I love the vibe of the game and I love the characters and their personalities, but jesus christ is he annoying. He’s also not hot like a lot of Danganronpa fans say. Neither is Hajime or Izuru. C tier at best.
Unpopular opinion: *warning, spoilers ahead* Mukuro Ikusaba as an individual character was another case of missed potential. I fail to see the point in fleshing her out in a visual novel that hardly counts as canon. (Danganronpa IF) Maybe I'm just one of those people that think that there should be a lot more to her than basically bein' her younger sister's slave and... That meme...😑
Unpopular opinions: 1) Shuichi is a big no-no. Kaede was and could’ve continued to be wayyy better. I feel like Shuichi should’ve been Rantaro’s killer, leaving Kaede feeling betrayed and confused. 2) I don’t know how unpopular this is, but I see a lot of Leon hate and I think he’s the best character in Trigger Happy Havoc. He’s really relatable and honestly could’ve easily made an protagonist as well. Despite this, and him being my favourite character, I think it was the best choice for him to die first. The excecution really makes you feel like “oh sh¡t, this is intense.’” His whole arc is just amazing.
Some agreements and counter arguments: The twist of kaede was unexpected and probably more effective than if shuichi was the blackened instead. She definitely should’ve stayed the protag, but shuichi wasn’t that bad himself. He’s a genuinely interesting character and there’s a lot of interactions we wouldn’t have had if he had died. (Some of my favorite lines or moments in the franchise as a whole.) I’ve heard somewhere that all dr characters (at least the first game, but this logic pretty much applies to all of them) were all made with the premise that they could be a protag and carry on the game while still making it interesting. Leon’s execution was the most brutal of the first game imo, and i really do think it set up the best atmosphere, so ur right saying it was best that he was the first blackened. I would’ve liked more interaction with him, tbh. I think that he had a very relatable premise as well. (Being naturally gifted at something but wanting to do something totally different.) Really great points from your end, though
Unpopular opinion. I think v3 should be the end of the franchise (or at least without a major reboot). I felt that it was the way of the creator basically saying that the series had run its course. Also I think Tsmugi is an amazing example of a toxic fan (someone who doesn’t want the series to end even at the expense of innocent people). Do I think there was a better way, yes. But I do believe for what it was trying to do (at least from what I could tell) it did its job
Unpopular opinion: I dislike Chiaki because in-game, she literally only have like one or two main traits and no other interesting quirks rather than being sleepy all the time. Sure she's an AI in the game. But can I just say? even in anime she got the title "class rep" *JUST* because she played video games and punching teruteru with the dragon attack thingy. Like..... And people shouldnt say “but have you played ____ free time events?”, cause not everyone have played the FTE’s, but most people have played/seen the games atleast once, and the FTE’s feel too disconected from the main killing game. What mondo did was wrong but he had no control over it while celestia did. Unpopular opinion: I kind of wish Izuru appeared more during DR2, he was one of the main antagonists. If he had appeared, maybe he could of appeared in these dreams (nightmares) that hajime would have? Could of appeared during the final trial even, like physically there when revealed. I don't know what could of been done with him if he appeared more in DR2, but it would just be cool if he had more appearances. Another unpopular one: The SDR2 cast is the worst cast of the three. I could empathize with EVERY SINGLE character in THH except for Enoshima Junko. I really liked a few from V3, too. SDR2? You have Mioda and Tanaka bumming around, acting like the killing game’s for lols. There’s Sonia, Owari, Souda, Koizumi and Nidai who barely have personalities unless you do their FTEs. Kuzuryuu is pretty damn hostile for the first two chapters. The only time we meet the true Pekoyama Peko she had successfully pulled off a plan that risked killing everyone.

Unpopular opinion: rantaro SHOULD’VE died in chapter 1. He knew too much and would be a disaster for tsumugi, especially if he made it to chapter 4 (with his lab unlocked and with the whole “you were in a previous killing game” stuff). Tsumugi would probably kill him before chapter 4 and possibly fake her execution or team danganronpa can provide a new mastermind anyways. Also everyone would’ve died in chapter 1 anyways. I feel like they made a good choice with ch1 and ch6 as a whole in my opinion :)

My unpopular opinion(s): 1. Kaito is a horrible person in the game and I hate him. He is a reckless idiot that get's away with everything without even a single person at least telling him that what he was doing something dangerous, aside from Kokichi who he refused to listen to. I wish his development was in him growing out of his toxic positivity and understanding that there needs to be a balance. Unpopular Opinion: I HATE the ishimondo and the chishimondo ship. The reason for this is because I feel like its just wrong. Im not against gay couples but I feel like ishimaru's reaction in the THH anime just has a bigger impact that they were best friends and not anything more. And adding chihiro into the mix is wierd. Just think about that kind of relationship in real life where a member of your relationship, has to hide their gender.
Hifumi clove looked better but Teruteru is so cute and I’m happy they chose his design over the beta since it’s so unique and there’s enough attractive characters

Nagito is annoying. I love SDR2, it’s my favorite game from the series. But I’ll probably never replay it because it feels like Nagito is giving a speech about hope every other second. I love the vibe of the game and I love the characters and their personalities, but jesus christ is he annoying.
He’s also not hot like a lot of Danganronpa fans say. Neither is Hajime or Izuru. C tier at best.

Unpopular opinion: *warning, spoilers ahead* Mukuro Ikusaba as an individual character was another case of missed potential. I fail to see the point in fleshing her out in a visual novel that hardly counts as canon. (Danganronpa IF) Maybe I'm just one of those people that think that there should be a lot more to her than basically bein' her younger sister's slave and... That meme...😑
Unpopular opinions:
1) Shuichi is a big no-no. Kaede was and could’ve continued to be wayyy better. I feel like Shuichi should’ve been Rantaro’s killer, leaving Kaede feeling betrayed and confused.
2) I don’t know how unpopular this is, but I see a lot of Leon hate and I think he’s the best character in Trigger Happy Havoc. He’s really relatable and honestly could’ve easily made an protagonist as well. Despite this, and him being my favourite character, I think it was the best choice for him to die first. The excecution really makes you feel like “oh sh¡t, this is intense.’” His whole arc is just amazing.
Some agreements and counter arguments: The twist of kaede was unexpected and probably more effective than if shuichi was the blackened instead. She definitely should’ve stayed the protag, but shuichi wasn’t that bad himself. He’s a genuinely interesting character and there’s a lot of interactions we wouldn’t have had if he had died. (Some of my favorite lines or moments in the franchise as a whole.)
I’ve heard somewhere that all dr characters (at least the first game, but this logic pretty much applies to all of them) were all made with the premise that they could be a protag and carry on the game while still making it interesting. Leon’s execution was the most brutal of the first game imo, and i really do think it set up the best atmosphere, so ur right saying it was best that he was the first blackened. I would’ve liked more interaction with him, tbh. I think that he had a very relatable premise as well. (Being naturally gifted at something but wanting to do something totally different.) Really great points from your end, though

Unpopular opinion. I think v3 should be the end of the franchise (or at least without a major reboot). I felt that it was the way of the creator basically saying that the series had run its course. Also I think Tsmugi is an amazing example of a toxic fan (someone who doesn’t want the series to end even at the expense of innocent people). Do I think there was a better way, yes. But I do believe for what it was trying to do (at least from what I could tell) it did its job
Unpopular opinion:
I dislike Chiaki because in-game, she literally only have like one or two main traits and no other interesting quirks rather than being sleepy all the time. Sure she's an AI in the game.
But can I just say? even in anime she got the title "class rep" *JUST* because she played video games and punching teruteru with the dragon attack thingy. Like..... The creator is trying so hard to make Chiaki as a perfect anime girl who does nothing wrong in her entire life, she's probably the only characters that does not have any bad or negative traits in the entire franchise. Very much a Mary Sue.
I really wish the creator gave her some more personality other than sleepy uwu gamer waifu
Unpopular opinion: a character shouldnt be only “carried” by free time. And people shouldnt say “but have you played ____ free time events?”, cause not everyone have played the FTE’s, but most people have played/seen the games atleast once, and the FTE’s feel too disconected from the main killing game.

( idk if unpopular but whatever) i hate it how some people can hate mondo for killing chihiro then thank and pray for celestia for killing hifumi. What mondo did was wrong but he had no control over it while celestia did. I understand why she would do it but it just borthers me bc shes getting prayed for killing while mondo is just getting hate??? Dont get me wrong tho celestia is very pretty and i find her interesting but i feel bad for hifumi and mondo because hifumi just got manipulated into killing while chihiro accidentally triggered mondo and he killed him ( doesnt exuse his actions ) I cant help but feel pity for both of them while celestia gets love for it? Poor them ☹
Unpopular opinion: I kind of wish Izuru appeared more during DR2, he was one of the main antagonists. If he had appeared, maybe he could of appeared in these dreams (nightmares) that hajime would have? Could of appeared during the final trial even, like physically there when revealed. I don't know what could of been done with him if he appeared more in DR2, but it would just be cool if he had more appearances. (I posted this months ago, but I thought I'd post it again and add a bit more. Good video!)

Another unpopular one: The SDR2 cast is the worst cast of the three. I could empathize with EVERY SINGLE character in THH except for Enoshima Junko. I really liked a few from V3, too.
SDR2? You have Mioda and Tanaka bumming around, acting like the killing game’s for lols. There’s Sonia, Owari, Souda, Koizumi and Nidai who barely have personalities unless you do their FTEs. Kuzuryuu is pretty damn hostile for the first two chapters. The only time we meet the true Pekoyama Peko she had successfully pulled off a plan that risked killing everyone.
Unpopular Opinion: I like V3 but it may just be me but it’s lacking the charm 1 and 2 had (keep in mind I’ve not finished V3 and I’m on Chapter 3)

• Hifumi is an extremely overrated character, a lot of people like to say he’s useless but he’s far from it. In the first trial he was on trash duty and he opened the gate which was essential to solving Sayaka’s case. In the second trial he had the handbook, and on the third trial before his death he said Celeste’s true last name. I have the feeling if Hifumi looked different, he would be way more liked
• Maki is one of my least favorite characters, she just constantly got on my nerves, it’s not bc I’m a Kokichi kin, if I had to think why it’s just because she was just really rude, what she said about her killing everyone really ticked me off
• I liked Himiko but I don’t think she should’ve survived, I would’ve preferred Kaito or K1-B0

Unpopular opinion: Kaede shouldn't have died, it would've been more interesting to be playing as female protagonist who actually has a more bubbly and positive personality than the classic depressed, no self esteem, insecure Male protag it would've been better if there was an arc where Kaede's entire personality changed throughout the chapters like a Charismatic, sweet, encouraging girl to a her mental stability breaking down and slowly losing her cool and sanity from what she went through not to mention her interactions with Maki would've been interesting and don't get me wrong I love Shuichi but tbh I would've preferred him to be the Kaito of V3 instead of Kaede. (Please don't hate me this is just my opinion)

Unpopular opinion: rantaro SHOULD’VE died in chapter 1. He knew too much and would be a disaster for tsumugi, especially if he made it to chapter 4 (with his lab unlocked and with the whole “you were in a previous killing game” stuff). Tsumugi would probably kill him before chapter 4 and possibly fake her execution or team danganronpa can provide a new mastermind anyways. Also everyone would’ve died in chapter 1 anyways. I feel like they made a good choice with ch1 and ch6 as a whole in my opinion :)

My unpopular opinion(s):
1. Kaito is a horrible person in the game and I hate him. He is a reckless idiot that get's away with everything without even a single person at least telling him that what he was doing something dangerous, aside from Kokichi who he refused to listen to. I wish his development was in him growing out of his toxic positivity and understanding that there needs to be a balance. But as he is now he is so very annoying and self centered, I get why Shuichi and Maki stick with him his positivity is good to them but everyone but Kokichi liking him? Like at least more than one person disliking him would have felt better.
tldr: I think Kaito is shit and really don't get him at all.
2. Gonta isn't autistic coded Kokichi is, Gonta is infantilized so much by the other characters and community that I refuse to call him autistic. As an autistic person I understand Kokichi completely and the way he is primarily treated match my experiences much more, ie: social isolation, being seen as heartless, and not being met half way because no one really considered his pov.
tldr: Autistic Kokichi feels right in the way autistic Gonta doesn't
hot take: tsumugi and hiyoko are top 4 characters. and are SO FUNNY.

I HATE the ishimondo and the chishimondo ship. The reason for this is because I feel like its just wrong. Im not against gay couples but I feel like ishimaru's reaction in the THH anime just has a bigger impact that they were best friends and not anything more. And adding chihiro into the mix is wierd. Just think about that kind of relationship in real life where a member of your relationship, has to hide their gender.
