Very interesting show Ken, thanks once again for sharing your knowledge. I don’t have a laser engraver but I enjoyed watching your workflow. I have a purchased circle template and never thought about the thickness of the mechanical pencil needing to be calculated into the design. Take care my friend and keep healthy and safe.
Hi Kenny, thanks for this, might even do this with my 3d printer. Also of course the metric one turned out more accurately as metric is the correct way to measure🤣
I'm a firm believer of using what is at your disposal Frank and if that can is what is at your disposal, then by all means, that is what you should use. Thanks for tuning in.
I have seen some acrylic sellers on Etsy with a custom item where you send them a template or drawing. I have a little interest making a pill shaped handle hole template with a few holes or short slots for a reference stop. I’ve made it out of wood but thick acrylic templates are great.
I love a good acrylic template as well and I only wish that diode lasers weren't so finicky when it comes to acrylic. I'd love to have these in something like a 1/4" thick clear acrylic. Thanks for turning in this week.
Hi Kenny. Thanks for the great video. I want to buy a laser this year, so your project is very welcome. Maybe you must click "set as Default" in the Optimization Settings? Maybe you have done it and it doesn't work like you want? When I have my laser, I gonna try your project. Stay Healthy. Greetings from the Netherlands
Thanks for the suggestion Dirk. I hope you do get a laser this year and that you enjoy it. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'd be more than happy to help if I can. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Hi Kenny, this was an idea I had never thought of before, Thank you for doing imperial and metric obviously you thought of different countries. here in Australia we are generally metric but I learned imperial at school many years ago so I can understand both mainly because the change over happened when I was in my 20's. I have never seen the particular laser you use for this one on the show before, I may have missed it, but I like this laser because you can see all it is doing. can you tell me which model it is? Great video and entertaining. thanks again for this one.
That particular laser was the xTool D1 Pro, 20watt laser and the enclosure is the Great Carve Shield 1 acrylic enclosure. You can find the show demonstrating the enclosure here. ua-cam.com/video/pm8VENIw4m8/v-deo.html And you can find the show demonstrating the D1 Pro laser here. ua-cam.com/video/CADqqs1zEqE/v-deo.html The xTool D1 Pro is my oldest laser and by far, one of my favourites. It is also my designated shop laser and lives in my shop. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in this week.
Thanks for the kind words. The crosshairs were the easiest part. The horizontal lines are basically one continuous line. From there, I drew one vertical line and then copy and pasted it onto each circle. I then aligned it on centre for each one to created cross hairs. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in.
An interesting show today. I use circle templates in the shop, especially when building from plans from Toys and Joys and Dutchy (metric). I have the art store templates but I have never given any thought to the spec of the marking device I am using. That is certainly a part of the accuracy but I would guess it does not enter into our thought process for most of us. A good cautionary concept. Now, I do like the metric template and will definitely consider making that one, since the art store templates do not have the variety of circles your creation does. At the end of the show, you discuss getting better using LightBurn by using it and you give a couple of examples. IMHO, I think that showing at least one or two of the " learning scenarios" you mentioned would have also been illuminating to everyone watching. Just my thoughts because once again you have produced a terrific show with a new and unique product. Super. You gave us a lot of great information and a terrific idea. Thank you. See ya on Friday. Here's a question for you. Are you going to skip a Christmas Eve day show or do you have something festive and jolly for us on the 24th??????? 🎅🎅
It's pretty rare that I skip a show and even on the 24th, there will be a show aired that day. It won't be anything as spectacular and festive and a JibJab video (thanks for that by the way) but I hope you will still enjoy it. Thanks for tuning in this week and for the kind words.
sorry to hear that Malcolm. I hope at some point in time, you are able to get access to one and make this project. It's extremely handy for layout in the shop. Thanks for tuning in

Glad that you were able to enjoy the show anyway Earl. It's always good to read your thoughts on the program. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

You guys and your loyalty to metric kill me Philip. LOL. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Kenny, was thinking we (your fans) need a Cut Above shop, then, remembered the art supplies comment, quick search, yep, they got em.
The sure do Newton, but mine are cheaper. LOL. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Thank you Kenny
You're very welcome. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
I rekon that beats a Skoal can lid lol! Thanks Kenny!

Nice lightburn tutorial, how did you draw the cross hairs? Thanks.

This is almost worth getting a laser cutter.
I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner Mark. It's a great project. Thanks for tuning in.
I was really up for this build until you said laser engraver. Haven’t got one, can’t afford one, can’t understand the software,
