Lmao “well my favorite moment is when I told Michael exactly what to do and then we won because of me”
I said the exact same thing 🤣
Classic Phil Jackson response 🤣
I feature heavily in my favorite Michael Jordan story!
What’s wrong with that?
Coaches need players to do what they're told. He had a superstar like MJ carry out his will on the court... The pinnacle of coaching!
"I was gonna suit up and shoot the shot too, but I thought I'm going to let MJ take it"! Phil Jackson
😂
Oo PM q ouo9p
You guys are missing the point…the fact that Phil said some shit like that is a testament to how great jordan was. The man said “when you score they’re not gonna call a time out…the when the get the ball to Karl, strip the ball and go win the game”…imagine being in the 50 yard line and the coach goes “we’ll give you the ball to the right and WHEN YOU SCORE I need you to be on the kick off team and then force a fumble and return it for a touchdown”…that Phil really taking jordan for granted if you ask me
@@dominiquewilson Not for granted- he "just" knew his greatness... IMO
@@dominiquewilson Why did the TV camera always show Jordan as one giving the instructions...with Phil Jackson just standing there...?
“When I won us a championship”
"When WE won us a championship by understanding each other." Obviously, as an ex player, he loves the game, and of course, his favorite moment with MJ is when they worked together perfectly and won together. It makes perfect sense because... you know... he was mjs coach... lol
Being the greatest of all time (Michael) and still being coachable .
🐐
The greatest of all time are the most coachable🤷🏻♂️
And ironically the worst team owner
@@jessielearned he’s building the Hornets from scratch. It takes time to build dynasties, just ask the GOAT himself.
Best comment here versus the idiots that think Phil is bragging.
What is your favorite MJ moment Phil?
When I gave him some great instructions.
The fact he executed on it is INSANE.
@@blue-pi2kt I mean...it was MJ
@@blue-pi2kt It's cuz it was Mike that knew what was coming, not Phil, Phil might've mentioned the play, but in the last dance usee Mike tell Steve what's about to come... I don't believe Jack S in this story about Phil telling him these things. Don't believe it at all.
@@brandonfreeman6517 Everyone is entitled to there own opinion but not their own facts- Pat Moynihan….Not sure but I suspect you were not there during the timeout so I’ll trust Phil this one.. lol
Seems like this is Phil’s favorite PJ moment.
He is not lying. You can tell how MJ hugged him after the play in a way you hug someone that helped you and guided you through something.
Nowhere in this clip is MJ hugging PJ. Nowhere….
When a player as great as Michael respects you enough to listen that’s a special coaching moment.
What was he supposed to do? He was on a 6-29 streak.
I mean, because at that point, they had won 6 damn rings together…. Phil has told him for years and years exactly what would happen, and when you hear that from someone, and 9/10 times he’s absolutely right and it happens exactly as he says, you end up trusting what the person says…. If you didn’t, you’d just be a moron, regardless of how talented you are….
Phil Jackson: “I told him to do a crossover and hit a mid range shot. Then told him to celebrate by jumping up and throwing 3 total first pumps.” True story
😂 🤣🤣😂then Phil told him after we win..smoke countless cigars and indulge in all the women you can tonight

Great comment!!
But he was when it came to his teammates. Mike is also known for being a jerk
Why did the TV camera always show Jordan as one giving the instructions...with Phil Jackson just standing there...?
Just freaking amazing basketball intellect😳
Phil didn't actually say any of that.
Nah. Everyone in the basketball universe knew it was going to Karl.
@@MaybeDHitHim it's not the important part, the important part was whoever it was going to they weren't going to be able to keep Jordan from it. Even when they know Jordan's going to get the ball he's still destroys them almost every time especially in the clutch.

That's dope! That's attention to detail right there. Phil, what a mastermind
I was there, this shot was memorable, and it will go down to history just by seen how Michael Jordan performed as he practiced. Greetings from Utah.
“May I have this shot, you may have the last dance” 😢
Mine was when he stretched his arm super long to beat the monstars. edit : this comment got some love 😂
Underrated moment and for some ungodly reason it's never included in his top plays. What a game.
I watched that with my siblings at the theater...we were so worried they would lose to the Monstars. When he dunked that last shot my sister exclaimed, "Of course they will win, it's Michael Jordan!"
Greatness personified😪
Mines too
🤣
The greatest player in NBA history and the greatest coach in NBA history together,...you will never see something like that in the NBA. I'm grateful with life to let me watch this.

Notice the hold on the follow through. As if saying, "check me out coach".
Exactly! Genius by Phil!
@@Zothimus - or made up by Phil after the fact.
@@-007-2 A distinct possibility. Still genius! Coaching that in that moment or anecdotally, still clever! 😎
He told him earlier in the game about the flaw in his jumpshot. When they set up the last play, he didn’t have to tell him about it again the message was already received. Great coaching of a great player.
@@-007-2Yes... He has to make up moments of his greatness because in all reality, he sucks at basketball, and his 13 rings were all pure dumb luck and earned by others with him having no instincts or coaching and playing skill... lol. He isn't taking anything away from MJ you tools. He was asked about his favorite moment with mj and of course it was when they worked together in perfect harmony to become champions...
And he held the most iconic follow through of all time on that shot!!
MJ getting that quick 2 for 1, then stealing Malone and hitting that game winner is still THE best/clutchest sequence in the history of basketball‼️🐐
In the history of sports. He made the 1st offensive play by himself, made the defensive play pretty much by himself and made the game winning offensive play by himself.
The other players did their assignments but Jordan literally made all the 3 plays happen.
Now on Utahs final shot Harper got a piece of Stockstons shot similar to Grant blocking Kevin Johnsons shot to clinch 1st 3-peat against the Suns.
Also in that Suns game Jordan scored all the Bulls points in that 4th quarter except for the Paxton game winner. They were almost in the exact same scenario in that game. Down 4 with around 40 seconds. Jordan gets quick layup just like he did in Utah. Suns missed the shot. Jordan takes it up court and this time he passed the ball to either Pippen or Grant. I know Grant made the pass to Paxton who hit game winning 3. Just like in Utah the Suns still had a chance but shot was blocked by Grant.
Thats why it’s impossible to touch Jordans resume. He was as clutch as it gets and took over the 4th quarter in the Finals in close out games. Even when Kerr hit game winner in 1997 Jordan was the one telling him be ready because they’re going to double team me. Also look at that play and when he passed the ball to Kerr he kicked out his leg to trip Stockton haha it was a legal play because he had the right to jump in the air when passing it and his foot can stick out while he’s in midair. So it wasn’t illegal its Just that no one else would of thought to do that like him. Maybe Bird but Bird wasn’t athletic enough to make it look that smooth lol
Thats what a great coach does. He studies opponents and learns what they are going to do. And he keeps calm during competition and coaches great players. Great job Phil and Bulls. The man has proved he is a great coach.
Phil just looks around the league for the best player and then joins that team. When he has an average team he threatens to quit.
Dude, Utah runs the same damn play all the time. lol.
Even in this mindset all Phil can think about is coming together and working as a team. This is the reason why he has so many championship rings
🤣🤣🤣👎👎👎
AND he coached MJ!
Lol, the whole response was based on him bragging about himself.
😂 No. prime MJ, prime Shaq, prime Kobe are why he has rings. He's a coat tail rider.
They were truly lucky to have been put together that combination will never be seen again
Yep. The most creative mind coaching and the greatest player ever. It’s no wonder Jerry Krauss is despised so much (basketball-wise.. RIP)
GREAT COACHING, GREAT PLAYER!!!!!!💯

Mj & Phil were unbeatable together. Cant image how many rings they would have if Mike never left for a few years or Kraus didnt let his ego get in the way & break up the team prematurely. This team could have won AT LEAST 8-9 rings. The record books will never tell the back story but this is team was easily the greatest dynasty in NBA history and MJ is the goat. He is the only player in NBA history that was unbeatable in their prime.
His team was awesome...

@@pokerani99 he was being sarcastic
It's by generally the most important position in basketball. There's always some players that are sort of their own coach, like LeBron in Cleveland with Ty Lue, but I don't think Michael was that kind of player. He was more of a scorer than a floor general.
When she asked him that my mind went straight to that clip where the two of them are hugging at the end of a game. Phil says "That was beautiful!" Mike responded with "I had faith. I had faith". Might of been this game cuz it was against Utah also

He was asked what his favorite moment with MJ was... and as a coach, it makes total sense that his favorite moment with him was when they worked together in perfect harmony to win a championship... When people say coaching doesn’t matter. He put his guys in a place to win. He knew the play he said where to go and what to do. It’s not just, “play with heart.” At that level everything is calculated.
I was there for that, and I hated every moment of it as a Jazz fan. I loved every second of it, as a Jordan fan. Got to see that moment in person, and I'll never forget it.

INCREDIBLE
I never realized how much impact a coach can have on a game of basketball. MJ still had to complete the task but the plans were already made.
My ex girlfriend’s parents had Trailblazer season tickets and I got to see half of the home games because her brother saw the other games. So about 20 games a year at the edge of the court on the wood floor in the front row across from the visitor bench. It was great. I remember seeing a young rookie Jordan. But after that I never saw him again because the family let more important people go I guess or the parents would go because he became so famous. It lasted for about 5 years or so. I saw some classic games.
My favorite moment is when I was awesome.

Must suck for Sloan and Malone that Phil predicted their entire play and MJ executed the steal and shot nearly flawlessly.
How to say "we won because of me without saying we won because of me"?
Phil:
The bulls had 87 points, and MJ had 45 of them to win the championship. People don't realize how slow the pace was in the 90s and MJ still avg 30+... y'all really don't understand how goated that was...
The competition and athleticism on the perimeter was sorely lacking. Not the late 90s crop of players that came in as pups.
