He was pushing the idea that Sherlock was a fraud. Which resulted in him jumping off a building. He feels guilty for his part in causing it. But if Sherlock faked his death, then he doesn't have to feel guilty because "no harm, no foul."

The abominable bride connects season 3 and season 4. The many happy returns was to entertain us while we waited for 2 years. Also going totally off topic, Anderson keeps theorising that ways that Sherlock could've survived the fall and looking for proof because he feels guilt for accusing Sherlock of kidnapping. Which was one of the reasons sherlock decided to "kill" himself.

You have to remember how 'spoilt' you are now being able to watch the whole 3 series together. Consider that on first broadcast. There were only 3 episodes each series and each series were shown virtually TWO YEARS apart so these minisodes were gobbled up by the fandom when they appreared.

I have loved Sherlock since the first season. And I’ve never seen this (was it shown here in America?) No idea why people were being so adamant about it. I mean, I get that people were hungry for ANYTHING, but it’s totally unnecessary to the story. 🤷‍♀️
