--- Grouper Fishing, Land Based: I had been in contact with Reice from "TLD Monsters" for a while. He fishes land-based around Darwin with heavy rods and big reels.
I had no idea what I was in for. This fish was an absolute GIANT! Truly a monster fish of a lifetime.

Nice Mikey. I'm doing some UA-cam videos and love your work. I'm living in Darwin and this video helped make that connection to the QLD Groper on the Darwin Land Based Fishing Reports FB group. It must have been Reice's misses that put that post up. :-D

I have fished there so many times! There are some scum bags around, my spot lights were stolen off my ute while I was fishing at the end of the jetty! Pulled in a 3.5m hammer head on a Wilson stroker with a Penn 50SVW.
Frigin mongrels mate. Its these scum that Darwin a bad name. I’ve been broken into once. Now padlock my front gates every night.

I have been watching alot of your videos lately and this is the only spot i have been. Im from vic but when im up there at my dads i got there every chance i get never new these big boys where there only ever got rays sharks. Great videos mate!!

Not sure what the point is targeting large cod, in the NT all species of cod or groper longer than 1.2m are protected and must be released unharmed. Fish of a life time? dropped a huge bait in, winched it up, not exactly angling.......(guess that's up to individuals perspective).
Reice is targeting sharks. He is a shark fisherman. He tags, measures and weighs each shark he catches and then sends the data on to shark researchers in NSW.
The Groper was simply by-catch and a once in a lifetime fish.
@@MikeyCunninghamFishing No worries, everyone to their own........not sure he is weighing or even measuring (estimating maybe?), tagging data might be a little more relivant to NT Fisheries rather than NSW (that being said.......tagging data, any data is a good thing). As you have probably guessed, I personally think targeting sharks or fish that at you are not intending to eat is kind of pointless (controversial I know). Cheers, tight lines
