We have an I5 Limited and my son has an EV6 GT-Line... We also did Hyundai splash guards on the I5 and drove it for a few days before I installed. They really don't help the rear window issue. We used a good rain repellent (G5) and it helps but a wiper is needed. You are correct too... My son's EV6 rear window stays much cleaner.

Hello, did you tell your son KIA ev6, how many miles does it drive on one charge during normal driving? And your son is satisfied with the car from KIA? The Kia EB6 is a four wheel drive car they say it can be turned off and it will be front wheel drive then it can go even further how many miles can it go when front wheel drive is on?
@@reshad711 As far as I know with both these systems is that when in Eco or normal mode, it’s mainly drinking 2wd, when you step on it it will apply torque to the front wheels. When I’m sport or snow mode it splits it 50/50.
i prefer Hyundai IONIQ 5. The interior in front is more open and spacious. The boxy 80s styling is just more my preference. Though the KIA EV6 side sculpting is attractive as well. The KIA steering wheel looks nicer. The IONIQ 5 really looks like a concept car and I really like square "pixel" lights. They both should have a rear window wiper. Thanks very much for the comparison video.
I also prefer the Ioniq. Like the roomier feel inside, the styling And I don't like the small background window in the Hyundai. Call me old fashioned but I like backing up looking out the back window.
@@abebegirmay3327 I think that's nice that there are two versions of basically the same car. Some will prefer the Kia, and some the Hyundai. And there's enough of a difference between the two so that it's not obvious that they are corporate "twins".
@@toronado455 agree. Kia EV6 was produced based on Ioniq 5 and both won already best car of 2021 (Ioniq 5) and 2022 (Kia Ev6). Both are similar design EV and nice ones too.
FYI - You said that these cars do not have 1-pedal driving. That is incorrect. Both of these cars do have 1-pedal driving by flipping the left steering wheel flap lever until it says "i-pedal" on the lower left of the screen, but you have to be in "Drive" and standing still (before you start moving) to get there.
I love both cars. I thought I was going to go Ionic 5 as I love the exterior retro styling, but i ended up going with an EV6 Wind AWD with tech package. I found the more conservative styling of the EV6 Wind - inside and out - more to my liking (versus the GTline) and more toward what I was attracted to in the Ionic 5.
Thanks for this comparison. The differences seemed so insignificant until I watched your review. You clearly defined it for me. I’d kind of like to mash up features from fr on each model, but the Ionic 5 seems to have most of what I want.
It's the back seats for me. With Kids, I need the bigger door opening and lighter, more open feel. I want my kids to be as happy as possible back there so it's the Ioniq 5 all the way. Plus, I prefer how it looks.
I have and I5 and the external design has always appealed to me more than the EV6 going back to the pre production images. The reported EV6 sharper handling and upcoming EV6GT appeals to me but there is the upcoming I5 N. Surprisingly the biggest advantage of the I5 for me is the sliding console. With my tight garage it allows me to park very close to my summer car in storage in my garage and exit out the passenger side. With the EV6 I would have to park it outside which is not always great in Canada.
Actually with the EV6 you could get out of your car while still outside your garage and use the key fob to pull your car into your garage next to your other vehicle. It’s a added feature to get in/out of tight spaces.
@@littlebigbrother7279 You can do that with the I5 as well. In my situation I have to get very close to the wall with my front bumper which could be difficult estimating with the smart park feature. Using the park sensors and cameras is easier for me.
actually, the smart tail gate would not automatically open even if you are in the proximity....the doors must be LOCKED in order for the smart tailgate to open as you describe. It's a very odd qwerk of the system and different than what Hyundai has done in the past. Awesome review. As an owner of the ioniq 5, I think you covered it very well...probably the best comparison I have seen yet. Definitely appreciate Cynthia's comments. Was really nice to see 2 full grown adults in the back seat side by side--not many reviewers do this. I ended up chosing the ioniq 5 because I felt the cabin was definitely more airy, aided by the glass roof, but also I much preferred the interior color of the lighter colored interior offered on the ioniq 5. The EV6 just felt too dark on the inside and there was no option for a predominately lighter color headliner/interior. I think KIA should consider expanding their color pallete on the GT-line trim...at least a lighter headliner would make a big difference in the perceived feel IMHO.
There have been 2 new Ioniq 5s in my town this week, prior to that have not seen them in person, both exactly the same as the one in the video. It's just so cool looking I like how Cynthia gently pushes you back on track, that's hilarious. On a side note, every time I drive in bad weather like today with very heavy rain and I use my rear windshield wiper, I think back to your complaints about the Ioniq 5 not having one and I am like yeah, they are kind of right about complaining about that. That being said it's just so cool looking.
The fact that in 2022, we're having a Hyundai EV and a Kia EV being talked about means we really have to thank Elon Musk and Tesla a hundred times over. None of these would've been there without Tesla. Now, comparing the two, I felt that Hyundai looked more cute and something I like. While the Kia looked great, I think edge goes to Hyundai and well worth buying that one. Love the HUD on these guys
Great comprehensive review! If I had to choose between the two, hands down it would be the Ionic 5 👍🏻. As to the engine sound, it would be on permanent off … isn’t one of the +’s of an EV the quietness of them? That said, it’s the Audi Q4 EV that will be in my garage 😀👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
One use for the sliding console in the Ioniq 5 is for purse or backpack storage. I typically have to put my purse in the back seat when I have a passenger. My granddaughter puts her backpack in the floor in front of her feet when she thins she needs to access something out of it. With the sliding console we will have more room for our “in car” stuff.
I have a Kia Soul electric and love it. A 2018 model so it would have been nice to have more mileage per charge but since we only use it in Oslo it doesn't really matter. BUT, the one thing I really don't like and you mention this is the headrest. It sticks too far forward and can't be adjusted. Really irritating if driving longer distances.
Really fun and honest comparison between the two. You didn't mention head room or I missed it. Some people with tall upper bodies have complained about this in the EV6 and not the Ionic 5. Also what about handling and ride. Some people say the EV6 is a little better in curves but I haven't compared them myself. Lastly I noticed for my taste there is a bigger difference in the trim level when going to the top trim in both for the Ionic 5. I much preferred the EV6 when comparing to the lower trims but that reversed to the Ionic 5 when both have the top trim level.

Great video. I really think this decision will come down to which one the buyer think looks better. One quick note. The EV 6 apparently has slightly less cargo space, so we asked about roof rails to mount a Thule cargo carrier that we own. It sounds like the only Kia EV6 trims that are compatible with the rails (which are $699 through Kia in the US) are the ones with a metal roof… no glass, meaning no sun/moon roof. So the Kia EV6 Wind RWD and AWD could accept the roof rails, but not the GT, bc the GT line has the glass on the roof. A small but possibly important detail to buyers that I thought I’d mention. I’d be curious if anyone has investigated this option with the IONIQ 5.

Good luck finding an EV6 @ OR near MSRP. However, finding an I5 even in Limited trim close to MSRP OR at MSRP. Mostly for this reason I've ordered an I5 Limited.
I prefer the Ioniq5. The only part of the Kia that looks good to me is the front part. Ioniq 5 overall is just beautiful! Test drive the Kia. Wasn't impressed and was even less impressed when presented with the price of a luxury sedan!!! I do love this review. Very detailed and thorough. It would be nice to hear about the interior materials more. The EV6 interior just looked and felt really cheap for such a high priced vehicle.
It is the price because it is an EV and loaded with features and you pay $50 a. Month to drive it. Your luxury sedan is $250 a month in gas. The ride and quietness is far superior to Tesla. I had a 2021 Model 3 and traded it in for EV6 GT line
@@ur.fav.brunette_2413 I bought the Polestar 2 for the proper dealer price without paying Kia 's inflated $4999 and actually get 2 years of free charging. Polestar actually lowered their prices recently.
Overall, I prefer the Ioniq 5 over the EV6. The only thing the EV6 got going for it is it's gorgeous interior/cockpit/infotainment. Very luxurious. But exterior styling is weird. Ioniq 5 has a more balanced approach. Nothing gorgeous but nothing weird either. And that reclining back seat is just insane.
Nice video… Question, at the end, when you drive both cars the microphone picks up more road noise in the i5 in some parts of the video than the ev6… Do you use different microphones when recording?
Thanks for a great review with the side by side. We’re the ev6 tires 20” like on the Ultimate ? Also appreciate the difference with the ev6 GT line2 is not the GT model with the larger front & rear motors. This is going to confuse customers ordering the car thinking they might be getting the faster car.
I tested both the Hyundai and the Kia. Although I like the outside appearance of the Ioniq 5 a little more than the EV6, the latter one has the more elegant interior (please note: this is just my opinion). Ended up ordering a Kia EV6 RWD long range model in GT line trim. Just one question concerning your video: you mention that the EV6 is not equipped with the relaxation front seats. In the GT line trim these relaxation front seats are standard (at least in Germany). Apart from that nice video.
Absolutely. We did a Model 3 comparison on the channel as well. For the same price in Canada, you can get an I5 with more room, AWD, about the same range, quicker acceleration and that’s before the incentives it qualifies for.
Thanks for the review. Just some feedback: You guys say "this one" quite a bit, instead of naming the car. It makes it difficult to keep track of which car you are talking about, especially when skipping around in the video.
Great review! Can't go wrong with either one... Exterior of the Ioniq 5 is so retro-futuristic and unique. However, leaning towards the interior of the EV6. Might have to flip a coin..
I don’t know what it is but Cynthia adds a lot to the reviews and makes me feel like I am watching a mini series lol. And to not agree on everything shows we all have our ideas what we like more. I like Both.
Hi. Thanks for the great review, its very helpful. We are leaning toward the ioniq 5 and would like to know the colour combination of the car you tested. Is it the shooting star grey exterior with the dark interior or two tone grey interior? Thanks for your help! Also if you have any comments on maintenance of the exterior given that its a matte paint, that would also be appreciated
Isn’t the Ionic5 also coming out with a version that could be an equivalent to EV6 GT - the Ionic5 N? Hope to to also see you review the Genesis GV60 soon!
Put deposit on both EV6 and ioniq5. Both top trim. Test drive with ioniq5 and will do the same with EV6. Ioniq5 is comfortable but lack of passion for driving. Sadly EV6 doesn't have shadeblind for rear seats and same for the panaroma glass roof. Both good vehicles but will depends on the user's preferences
Exactly same boat as you. I test drove both. EV6 much more fun to drive, though i did hear a weird humming and apprently thats an issue with EV6. I am going to the ioniq just because of kids
Why have Kia not given you guys in North America the auto relaxing front seats similar to the Ioniq5 as we get in Europe? It doesn’t make sense why they have omitted that for you guys? Similarly the rear indicator lights also flash on the bottom as well as the top section in Europe. But I guess this maybe just a Europe /North America legislation thing? Such as that horrible orange reflector thing you guys have on the front wheel arch. Great review, however one thing a lot of reviewers fail to mention is of a night. The EV6 GT Line looks absolutely fantastic with its many ambient lighting colours. Looks like something out of a light show. Definitely worth a comment. However the difference I noticed when testing and before ordering was the EV6 is a way more sportier and focused drive, whereas the Ioniq 5 was a more comfortable softer drive.

You currently don’t have that option with the Ionic, BUT……..the Ionic will be coming out with a N version sometime this year. Which you can almost guarantee, that the N will have quite a bit more styling changes compared to the EV6 GT which looks EXACTLY like the rest of the EV6 lineup, except for the seats. Also you lose some key features with the GT for speed that you really don’t need. I

In my view Iike IONIQ5 way better then any other EV cars tho. More FUTURISTIC 😲😮Looks 👏👏💙
Both big time winners. I like the Ioniq 5 a bit better.
Love love love you guys! Great video! My pick would be the Ioniq 5.
I think I will stick with the gasoline power cars for now.
Ioniq 5 has a more mature & decent lasting design
I like the house more than either of them.
It's not the lip on the trunk spoiler, it's the gap that allows air to flow through on the hatch spoiler.
Nice video…
Question, at the end, when you drive both cars the microphone picks up more road noise in the i5 in some parts of the video than the ev6…
Do you use different microphones when recording?
Yes 2 different microphones. Good ear.
Yes 20” on both testers.
Different country have different trim options.
Nice review! Where I live Tesla prices jumped by 10 000$, do you think one of these would be a better buy than a model 3 or y?
Absolutely. We did a Model 3 comparison on the channel as well. For the same price in Canada, you can get an I5 with more room, AWD, about the same range, quicker acceleration and that’s before the incentives it qualifies for.
Thank you so much replying. I know your yt channel will grow huge
@@bluebeta5191 thanks! Have a look at the other video when you get a chance.
@@EverydayReviews2022 I will!!
Thanks for the review. Just some feedback: You guys say "this one" quite a bit, instead of naming the car. It makes it difficult to keep track of which car you are talking about, especially when skipping around in the video.
They are both the top trim if it makes it a little easier.
I place my order for ioniq 5 ..it take a year to wait, but its worth
Great review! Can't go wrong with either one... Exterior of the Ioniq 5 is so retro-futuristic and unique. However, leaning towards the interior of the EV6. Might have to flip a coin..
I don’t know what it is but Cynthia adds a lot to the reviews and makes me feel like I am watching a mini series lol. And to not agree on everything shows we all have our ideas what we like more. I like Both.
That's in Surrey Bend! We love going there. Great comparison!
I don’t think there’s any mention of towing capabilities in this comparison. It’d have been great to hear your opinions about it.
The air deflector allows for better flow across the rear window on the Kia.
The rear lip spoiler also blocks the spray from getting on the window as well.
Great video you make a great duo. Love how Cynthia keeps you on track ;D
Wonderful review by a wonderfully entertaining couple, thank you guys!
Ioniq styling for me
♻️ I'll take the EV6 by a thread but the ioniq5 looks fun.
Isn’t the Ionic5 also coming out with a version that could be an equivalent to EV6 GT - the Ionic5 N? Hope to to also see you review the Genesis GV60 soon!
Yes I’m really looking forward to the Gv60 as well. I heard about the N. Is it official?
Kia EV 6 for sure ....
Great Tag team review! First I was sold on EV6 after watch countless reviews your review sold me on the Ionic5 . Thanks!
You really can’t go wrong with either.
3:00: I wish that BEV automakers would put a full-size spare wheel/tire in the frunk of every vehicle...
when will they bring a 2021 Hyundai Tucson full electric????????
I have a Tesla standard range model 3 which I love but I've got my eye on the Kia EV6! I love the interior, one day I will test drive it!
Great Job! Greetings from Germany (Munich)
Those touch buttons on the arm rest in the ev6 look problematic. Do you accidentally click them and turn on the butt warmers?
Never had that issue with those buttons.
Is it possible to fit an adult sized bicycle in either vehicle?
What is the autonomy of each model (Long Range AWD) ?
Put deposit on both EV6 and ioniq5. Both top trim. Test drive with ioniq5 and will do the same with EV6. Ioniq5 is comfortable but lack of passion for driving. Sadly EV6 doesn't have shadeblind for rear seats and same for the panaroma glass roof. Both good vehicles but will depends on the user's preferences
Exactly same boat as you. I test drove both. EV6 much more fun to drive, though i did hear a weird humming and apprently thats an issue with EV6. I am going to the ioniq just because of kids
I like both of them I have the ID.4 my dad probably gonna get the Hyundai Ioniq 5 they all really good. Great video
Awesome head to head real life review! 👏🏼
Cynthia, any chance your sibling is a twin sister?? 😎👌🏼
Umm doesn't the ev6 have steering wheel volume lever? I never use my console volume nob while I drive I always use tge steering wheel volume control.
Who makes that “Travel trunk” piece of luggage?
I 100% agree with wireless Apple auto. Who wants to plug in?
Great review. Your wife has good points and is so stylish! Keep up the couple reviews like your friends at Motormouth. Would love to see your wives do a review together. 😊👍
Thanks! Will do!
I frefer hyundai ioniq 5 the best looking and i love this car so much
what is the warranty on the ev6
Great video!
Hello. Just curious, did you end up placing an order for either one? What do you actually drive?
Funny you ask lol. NEW 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV - Did We Buy it?
Sorry tried to post a link to the video we did Not sure why it’s not working.
@@EverydayReviews2022 haha got it, will look for your video =)
You currently don’t have that option with the Ionic, BUT……..the Ionic will be coming out with a N version sometime this year. Which you can almost guarantee, that the N will have quite a bit more styling changes compared to the EV6 GT which looks EXACTLY like the rest of the EV6 lineup, except for the seats. Also you lose some key features with the GT for speed that you really don’t need. I
The Ioniq's style is more cohesive to the rest of the vehicle.
Kia! These are not even in the same league!
As time goes by, Kia's design gets boring, and Ionic's ride & interior is more comfortable. Ionic 5 is better than ev6.
Her accent made me chuckle when she said horsepower, horsepower is very fitting though.
i like both concepts designs but i think i like more the sporty design and shape of the ev6 and for curves and driving the ev6 is a better car
If they about the same price, definitely Ioniq5
What is the color of the Ioniq 5? is that a matte finish ?
It’s called shooting star
@@EverydayReviews2022 Thanks. In my area the markup of buying a new car cost as much as $10000 and only if the car is in stock.
the ionic 5 reminds me of my first car. a dodge omni. ugh! the ev6 gt is my newest car. I think I am the first one to get one in Iowa.. and I prefer it over the I5...at least from pictures and videos. I have never seen an ionic 5. and have only seen one other ev6 on the road.
Nice. I’m currently testing the EV6 GT and all o can say is WOW!
On looks alone I’ll take the EV6.
