These games will always hold a special spot in my memories. After Ruby and sapphire I feel off from gaming and went years without playing anything. My senior year of High School Black and White was coming out and my friends showed me the trailer and i was excited to play Pokemon again and got a DS.. I got Soul Silver as my first game back while I waited for B&W to release
Daniel Samolewicz black and white was mystical asf , especially since I didn’t have access to WiFi often , all we New where the legendaries and they looked fucking wicked especially reshiramand it felt like it took forever to release
HGSS was the absolute PEAK of Pokemon games. It was the time when GameFreak pushed themselves to make Pokemon as high quality as possible. Yeah, BW didn't offer up nearly as much as HGSS, but the idea of regions being on other continents, hidden abilities, and a deep storyline were still major pluses for the franchise. Unfortunately, the hate surrounding those games was so hard it devolved GameFreak to what it is now... Kanto pandering. I'm not ignoring Sinnoh or trying to get sympathy for Unova, I just feel like HGSS was when GameFreak wasn't holding anything back and that's such an awesome thing.
GBA and NDS eras best pokemon eras. Sadly Gamefreak won't produce high quality games such as FRLG, Emerald, Platinum, HGSS and BW2. Was a great time to be a pokemon fan. RIP Pokemon 1996~2012.
ORAS was absolutely wonderful and I wasn't too happy about RSE when they came out, so feelings from back then would leave me with a more negative experience, not a positive one. Don't try to find reasons to write it off just to make your "XY/3D is where the decline started" stay true. XY was bland and SM was just plain bad, don't give ORAS flak by proxy. Mega Evolutions and Z-moves are indicative of their problems. They try to introduce new, spectacular gimmicks that would look good as a finale in a movie. Then we have all the mythics and giveaway pokémon. I wasn't a fan of this in Gen I, and they've made it worse than ever. Legendaries, Mythics and Ultras make up an absurd proportion of the new Gen VII pokémon. It still feels like you're playing a tutorial 10 hours in, you constantly get interrupted by cutscenes killing your sense of player agency. As for DS being one of "the best eras", I really didn't like Pearl and I still have no interest in finishing it. It's my third least liked generation. And its the generation when the storylines really started to go anime level retarded. Pokémon that control time and space, a God pokémon - and monster design-wise it's the single biggest step down the franchise has ever taken. So the whole "This time period is when they were great!" is a theory I don't subscribe to. The primary part of HGSS being so damn great is GSC being an amazing sequel to begin with, so that credit goes to GSC. Then they took the incremental improvements from gen III and IV, and presto, you get a great game. They took the things that already worked and put them together. Everything about that game was already tried and true prior to making it.
this is a definitive fact, its sad that the newer games havent even come close when all they needed to do was just add on to what these 2 games did. Instead they just kept taking things away.
Press_Start2continue - nope, that isn't a fact at all. it's a matter of tastes, and what exactly they should have brought to the new games that these had? I don't see much good things that the new games could have had, or relevant things to define them a lack. "they just kept taking things away", cause you can't see all the actual innovations. probably you're stuck with nostalgia for these games, but anyway, I even prefer all the ones that came out after HGSS and many of the ones that came out before (Hoenn and Sinnoh)
Big Shaq sorry dude but it is a fact. “A matter of taste” or “nostalgia” has nothing to do with the actual CONTENT in/not in a game. look at ORAS they don’t even let you rematch gym leaders something that Pokémon emerald a decade old game let you do, no national Pokédex, the post game is barren due to there being no battle frontier. Same with x/y and the sun and moon games with the ultra ones being the exception only because of the whole rainbow rocket storyline which is there’s basically nothing to do after you beat the game aside from catching Pokémon. Game freak admitted to toning down the difficulty in all the 3ds games during the same interview where they give their reason for leaving out the battle frontier. The number of special trainers in the battle tree is minimal compared to the PWT in Black and White 2 or the Fighting Dojo in heart gold and soul silver. They basically hand every legendary Pokémon to you instead of having you explore dungeons to get them like in the DS and gameboy games. Due to the games being made in 3D they made the dungeons and environments less explorative. It took them nearly a decade to add back Pokémon following you and now it’s restricted to just the 151 Pokémon in the let’s go games which got rid of random encounters, doesn’t have online battles, and again lacks and real post game content. They hardly ever do in game events like going back in time with celebi or using arceus to create new Pokémon, There’s much more I can type about what the 3DS games but I’ve typed enough already. Aside from super training there have been no “innovations”
Christian Hegener just because you’re nostalgic doesn’t mean anything. Gens 4 and 5 had more content, more Pokémon, the same basic storyline(gen 5 story was a little better), and better graphics.
@@dukes1lv3r48 It's not about nostalgic :D If you was around at that time, you would know that pokemom was fucking everywhere. You couldn't make a single step without seing it somewhere. Every store was filled with pokemon stuff to the roof.
yep, pokéathlon is awesome! aside Gen 3 (not Gen 4) contests and Pokéstar Studios (very underrated!) Pokéathlon is definitely one of the best side "quests"
I always laugh at Zapdos just being kicked out like that, Moltres and Articuno get to keep their locations but poor Zapdos sits confused right outside the entrance.
@@SoloTheCashier The Sevii Island were cool when I was a kid, but afterwards the story seemed kind of weak. They should've included them in HG/SS as a place to capture the regis.
@@realar The Sevii Islands? My guess is that those islands had Pokémon from Johto, but they had not appeared since Fire Red and Leaf Green. Maybe Gamefreak just forgot or did not cared lol.
It can't be overstated how much the music reflects the sheer effort and passion put into these games. FRLG and ORAS do nice enough jobs remastering the original tracks, but HGSS straight up remixes and restructures nearly every song. Cherrygrove City takes a pretty basic melody and more than doubles its length into a beautiful melody, Ecruteak City becomes a very oriental piece, and Saffron City straight up turns into a smooth jazz style piece, among many other excellent songs.
Honestly, FRLG’s remakes have always been screechy and grating to my ears, aside from a few standout tracks. They’d be fine at first but I couldn’t listen for too long without turning down the volume. HGSS, on the other hand, is peak. 👌
I would argue these are the best Pokémon games of all time. They are so packed with charm and side events you can participate in, such as the Pokeathalon and bug catching contest. I'm not surprised their value has risen over the years. These are some amazing games.
The best pokemon games ever are Diamond and Pearl. 2. red/blue/yellow 3. Xd gales of Darkness 4. silver/gold originals 5. sapphire/ruby 6. black 2/white 2. 7. ORAS 8. and everything else.
@Merciless Freak Diamond and Pearl = absolute perfection, the peak of all of pokemon, the cream of the crop the tip of the spear, the best of the best, perfection never seen before. After Diamond and Pearl all hope was lost, I had to jump ship pokemon was over, sure i bought every pokemon game and sure the pirated versions of HGSS and black and white where more fun than the store versions but the fact that the store versions weren't fun is the point. The story was excellent in Diamond and Pearl, Diamond and Pearl surpassed my expectations, HGSS didn't live up to perfection, all hype no action is everything after Diamond and Pearl.
@Merciless Freak Diamond and Pearl: Grinding was awesome, I always loved grinding, If anyone loves grinding 100+ hours to get some stat boost than that's me, I love the quite pace of diamond and pearl, The game was a new experience to when i played XD gales of Darkness, it was rare for me to battle and grind out wild pokemon in XD so when I played Diamond and Pearl it felt genuine, The game was a magical experience, and the new addition of physical attack vs special attack was fresh, gyrados became very powerful, I liked that i needed to grind out a lot of hours, I loved that so much, I was so happy grinding out to level up totally worth it, in all pokemon games if the grind is not there than I am not satisfied. The story of Diamond and pearl was great and the characters where great Dawn is the best female character, the Gym leaders where all great, the region was very comfortable, the elite four was really good. I had a great time grinding out that game, the legendaries where nice, competitive battling was very good, peoples youtube pokemon adventures where nice as well.
@Merciless Freak Lack of fire types was an acceptable loss for all that grinding and pace, the pace was just right for me, the grinding was perfection for me, I was frowning when Diamond and Pearl were released and said that oh they look bad and then when I got around to playing them I was blow away, everything that can go right went right and the lore was not bad Arceus brought back what a mythical pokemon was suppose to be like. Mythology = good, Story = good, Elitie Four = good, Grinding 100+ hours = good, Pace = good, new features = good. Lack of fire types = acceptable loss.
@Merciless Freak 4th Gen: great characters, Dawn was a very nice character great personality,The region was nice, great areas to explore, water attacks use to be special attacks until 4th gen, waterfall was special until 4th gen, fir punch Alakazam became useless but waterfall gyrados became useful, the design was nice of the game, the lore behind the legends was very nice. A game is great when you compare it to what is possible and how much it has really pushed the envelope how much progress was made. HGSS were all hype, I played them, with high expectations, Diamond and Pearl my expectations for a pokemon game were never so low, HGSS my expectations for a pokemon game had never been so high. one game suprpassed my expectations, while the other left me disappointing, HGSS were not great they were below average man, gen 1 was one of the best, why do you hold the opposite view of pokemon?? why is when something was magical you find it abd and when something was average you find it magical? I had had the full pokemon experience after 4th gen, platinum is basically the same game so 4th gen still.
@@maximumbeans9310 I’m excited for brilliant diamond. IMO I prefer the chibi style because it feels like I’m playing the originals which would really take me back
R J - it shouldn't be difficult to understand what subjectivity is and what can be defined by objectivity if you are even a little smart. In this case, it's purely subjective if you find these games to be the best or not (not talking about the people that like them just because they're praised by the community). What you could say objectively is if they have the most amount of contents, the most advanced game engine and things like this, which isn't even the case.
Glank the guy wasn’t even being rude about it tho. You’re the one calling him an idiot and toxic just because you disagreed with him. People say “facts” all the time for their opinions but they usually don’t mean it that way. The only person here who’s being toxic is you. Yeah opinions are subjective, but just because you disagree with them doesn’t give you the right to insult them, no matter how they stated their opinion
R J - ehm, stating that your opinion, in this case, based on tastes and subjectivity, is a fact, is extremely rude. Cause you basically say that all the people who don't agree with you are *wrong,* and their opinion, their tastes, don't count. Avoid making shitty arguments trying to discredit me, thanks.
@@krippaxxuseredarlordofthes9940 You get one earlier than the other, at a lower level. I would suggest playing gold and silver first, either on 3ds or through emulation.
Something you didn't touch on is that even the original gen 2 games were a huge improvement over gen 1, fixing a lot of broken mechanics and adding series staples such as breeding and shiny hunting. So for a lot of people, Gold / Silver / Crystal were the best games out there. As such, the HG/SS remakes were a huge slam dunk in that they improved on something that was already so amazing.
Pokémon are a cycle of the same thing. This series will never end well. Ugh why do people always do this with kids. Pokémon cards are a different diamond with size of gold.
Actually GF has the model, walk animation, and model material, they just need to rescale it but the programming say naahhh, and swsh feels like a rushed game to me,they have all materials inngame but very poor when implement the game asset
@@m0chik1tty it's still a better pokemon game, why are you stalking me? Are you mad that one person dears to say that black 2 is actually better then the beloved soulsilver and heartgold?
@@Nomstero No. Sorry, but no. You might like these games and it's cool. Good for you. But as games, HGSS are far better than each and everyone of those you mentioned. Yes, HGSS had a leveling problem if you want to play easy mode (not an insult, poke are childs games so some hand-holding is expected), but still they are better as games.
This when GF not Rush a game cause they have many assets from previous pokemon ds era,in swsh even after cut half of the pokemon the game still feels like a rushed game.they really need to step up their game on game assets investment
I sing like an ass I bought a switch specifically for sword and shield and the game was decent but still somewhat underwhelming. I will say I enjoyed this new gen better than the last few so far, but I really hope they can step up their game and make the gen 4 remakes as good as hg/ss. If they don’t the franchise is gonna start to die. It’s already losing popularity and people are less and less happy with each new game and new anime season. The gen 4 remakes are game freak’s chance to get Pokémon back on track before they ruin it
What I hope gamefreak did was give us sw/sh to keep us occupied and gave us dlc to keep us occupied longer. Why? Because gen 4 remakes are in the way and they will be the best pokemon game to date. Or at least I hope that’s what happened
My third and favourite Pokemon game. Best Pokémon main games ever: Two region explored 16 gym battles Able to get both box legendary in either games Versing trainer Red Pokeathalon Dome Battle Frontier Excellent event Pokémon in game Lots of legendary Pokémon to verse and capture. Best hand held Pokemon game Any Pokémon follow you including Legendary Pokémon
Yeah I feel like in the last few games GameFreak has made have been lacking in content and originality. And the Galar Pokemon are really bad, and I don't just mean the ones that got form changes I mean every Galarian Pokemon in general.
To be fair, it's easy to add so much content on a DS remake of a GB game. If the remakes were on 3DS instead, chances are that the games would be even more groundbreaking
@@codmobileguntests90 originality? what do you mean by that? I mean...the 3ds games had originality and the content got better as the games went on for that systems games.
Heart Gold and Soul Silver not only are the best remakes, but they are also the best Pokémon games period. Never have I played a Pokémon game so many times without feeling bored. Sure the originals are great but the remake is perfect. The ultimate Pokémon game!
@@m0chik1tty Are you listening? Pokemon soulsilver is not the best pokemon game ever that title goes to black and white 2 , black two is better in every way , Better maingame/ story, and postgame adventure, also has alot of generation 1 and 2 pokemon that you can catch to be apart of you're team..
Best pokemon games of all time. no competition. leaps and bounds ahead of all the others with an incredible list of features that still blows me away to this date.
Bro This game has many flaws it isn't Trash (there isn't any bad Pokémon game)but i don't think that it is the best either jotho is my least favorite region

This ain’t the best remake. It’s the best game in the series. It gives you so much to do during your playthrough. And it makes you feel that much better when you beat Red.
To have two regions was so cool. It was such a detailed game. The only critic I can have about this game are the 3 Dragonite‘s from the champ, but the rest is great. Red was a really hard opponent.
No Name he wasn't difficult he was just at an unfair lvl advantage I battled everyone I could and my highest was a lvl 63 Lugia (because I didn't wanna use a single pokemon through the whole game) I felt like shit when I beat him cause I was just doing a bunch of X item shenanigans
ell1 ell1 "why didn't you just grind for a long time?" Grinding isn't fun imo Doing the same repetitive thing over an extended period of time just to be able to play the game fairly isn't fun to me
A lon time ago After i Finisher HG i bought used Diamond Pearl an Platin and have recently reset Platin to play it myself (Diamond is complete PokeDex etc and a lot of candy and shinys Pearl almost no Pokemon and Platin just a starter and a few weak pokemon no badge ) I fondly remember playing HG and watching a Ho-Oh tutorial before actually approaching it having lernt from my Gameboy Pokemon sapphire mistake ( killed kyogre and didnt save in a long time ); )
They didn't fix the most glaring non-glitch issue ot the game: Level scaling. There absolutely no excuses for having to train alongside level 22-26 pokemon/trainers when you're about to fight the level 41 boss.
I agree I wish level scaling was added to pokemon in general. I like to over train my pokemon alot especially when going against that horrid miltank the problem is. It all snowballs until the point I'm level 40 to 50 on all my pokwmone and fighting against level 20's. And a gym leader who only had lvl 30s makes the game way to easy
This is even more painful if you're doing a nuzlocke run, since losing a party member usually means having to grind for hours to get a replacement to a suitable level. If you lose multiple party members late into the game, you might as well start over. It's such a weird flaw in a game that's otherwise near perfect for both casual and challenge runs.
Idk I didn't mind it. Made me have to use the other features in the game such as going to the Pokeathlon to save up for rare candies or exploring every possible area of the region to find all the trainers I could to battle
@@parkzy2920 same. johto is not meant to be rushed. there's a shitton of content available throughout the campaign, and it's the only game in the series where the bf is available before the postgame. this "level curve" nonsense is a minor nitpick on an otherwise flawless game.
What do you mean your pokewalker is long dead? The batteries are easy to replace, theyre just simple watch batteries, and you can reset the pokewalker to connect to a new save file if you no longer have the one it was connected to. I know for a fact this works because I did so myself not too long ago when I decided to replay my copy of SoulSilver and bring along the walker when I went Go hunting
I just bought one bc I'm starting a playthrough of HG after I finish Platinum! Honestly such a nice touch to the entire experience! I'm able to have a Doduo (one of my fave Pokemon) on my team before the first gym and that's wonderful!
HG/SS are my personal faves, especially since it was the first Pokémon game I ever played as a kid (it came out when I was around 10) and I loved it. That and B/W will always have a special place in my heart since I grew up with them and unfortunately I haven’t kept up with the Pokémon franchise since :( Side note: anyone else remember playing the Pokémon ranger games?? I loved those
Jay Rodriguez if you’re looking to get back into the series, 2DSs are dirt cheap nowadays and all the games are pretty fairly priced. I’d honestly recommended every generation if you haven’t looked into them!
I’m a big fan of x and y even tho it’s not everyone’s favourites, but I gave it to my boyfriend for him to try his first Pokémon game. I do not like the generation 7 games but visually they are very beautiful
I completely agree with this video. For me ORAS disappointed me as a remake because they cut a lot of stuff that were in the original and made unnecessary changes that made the game too easy for no reason. Not only that they barely included anything that was from Emerald while HGSS include loads of stuff from Crystal.
Yep with the ability to have DLC you’d think that theyd include at LEAST the battle tower, seeing as they TEASED IT! But nah gotta have latios after the 5th gym and the battle maison
taijutsugal then they actually banned reviewers from telling that the battlefrontier was not in the game for the first 2 weeks that the game was out too so they knew they fucked up by not putting it in the game
Watching this in November 2019 makes me realize how little effort was put into the new Pokémon Sword and Shield games. These remakes were the Pokémon at its finest.
。。 Hearing more and more news about the weird stuff happening with Sword and shield meanwhile looking back at 2010’s HGSS just shows how much Gamefreak has changed.... BIG TIME! In my opinion, I believe a lot of games in the 2000s and early 2010s were simply good or near masterpieces (I’m including the Pokémon series and the First Person Shooter games like BF, COD, etc). Compare all that to the mid 2010s and in this late era, a lot of them have become the best complete opposite. Games being delivered unprepared, games charging you unnecessary extra amount of money, games being glitchy or sketchy malfunctioning, and (from what I’ve seen from EA, and what I’ve been witnessing a lot in Movies and Product ads) games pushing their Socialist propagandas aka identity politics, all because we have that “Orange man bad” in America. “Not standing by with our LGBT and feminist preachings? F$?@ you, you’re a sexist, homophobe, and a White Supremacist.” That says a lot of how our game devs are these days. It’s depressing... this is why last year 2018 I official quit gaming, because wit was becoming too addicting along with all of these issues that I’ve mentioned, especially devs caring more and more about the money over their fans. Now Gamefreak is becoming one of them, and they also just proven to us that they no longer even 50% care about us Pokémon fans. What a joke these devs have become. Absolutely disgusting!
Pikachufps3 SS is one of my favourite pokemon games, and i have to tell you, pokemon Sword ans Shield is really not as bad as it seems, dont belive everything you read and watch especially on youtube (ironic since youre reading this on youtube). Even though i have a couple of problem with sword and shield, i can honestly give it a minimum of 8.5/10 overall. There were tons of new concepts and mechanics that just drew me back to the game and the main issues that yhe internet has been hammering them about isnt that really big of a deal. Again, being a felow long time fan of Pokèmon myself, i would advise you guys to give the game a go, then tell me how you feel.
@@jodirex4639 There is no National Dex, so to me, there is ZERO point in even getting either games. Plus the whole thing with the Gigantimax is seriously way too gimmicky. SickBabySeals if the only reason youre gonna buy a pokemon game is to have a national dex then i dont know what to say. On the gigantimax note, loads of people have been asking for an extra feature in pokemon games. A lot of people didnt like mega evolutions at first now they dont like dynamax/gigantimax and praise mega evolution. The concept of it when i heard it the first time was absurd, but once youve strated to play it in gum stadiums, the raids with friends and the limitations of it, it doesnt feel like a cheap stunt, but an actual legitamate fun concept.
@@jodirex4639 Well, I do pay for their PokeBank service for one. And I find it an insult that I can't transfer some of my pokemon, with a service that Game Freak has said you could use for future games. Why should I buy a game if I can't even transfer my favorite pokemon that I have carried around for multiple generations, with ZERO issues? If you like the game fine, by all means, gobble it all up. But I'm definitely not going to pay full price (or any price), for what I feel is sloppy, rushed, and incomplete product, created by lazy, and complacent developers. I have seen more than enough gameplay footage by those that praise the game and by those that bash it, to have made an informed decision. This product is simply not for me.

At the very least I can say that it was a great sendoff for the 2d pokemon era, and is far greater than anything on the 3ds/switch.
Trust me, it feels SOOOOO satisfying when you finally beat one. I remember when I was little, I sucked at Pokémon and I could never beat the elite four of any region (except the newer regions because of the buffed exp share). Over time I finally learned some techniques that helped me efficiently balance my team and now I’m able to successfully conquer the elite four of older regions.
You seriously never beat any Pokémon game? (Become the League Champion at least) They are not even so long games, I remember that when I was younger I was beating them after 2 days of bought them. Except HGSS which both were so complete that it actually took me over 1 week.

Personally my favourite remakes are heartgold an soulsilver snd omegaruby and alphasaphire. Omega and Alpha were my first introduced to hoenn and I immediately fell in love. But heart and soul introduced me to joy johto, both of which are now my favorite region's
My first ever video game was my older brothers copy of Silver. Gen 3 had just come out but I wanted to try Silver first. That game absolutely captivated me. Finding Red by accident and getting my shit rocked was one of the most humbling experiences of my young life. There was seemingly endless content. I played gen 3 and had fun, but once I beat the Pokémon league there wasn’t much else to do. Platinum came and I enjoyed it. Then the day came. My favorite game was getting a remake. I bought it day 1 and was blown away. Everything was perfect. The world, the graphics, the music, and to my surprise my little Totodile popped out and started following me around. Very feature they added fit seamlessly. Everything you said in the video was spot on. Plus you can get Kanto and Hoenn starters and all gym leader phone numbers for rematches. They even added the pokeathelon, while It wasn’t my favorite thing, was still a cool addition. This game is perfect. I still have my save file with over 450 hours and I hopped on it tonight and STILL found things to do that I haven’t done yet. Incredible game, my Feraligatr will forever be my Pokémon partner. Last game I played was black 2. From what I hear from the community I stopped playing at the right time. Gamefreak created something amazing that could wow me as an older fan and still give me that nostalgia I felt when I was a kid.
Meanwhile, Game Freak aren't even giving us ONE full region in Sword/Shield without stupidly expensive DLC that costs nearly as much as what I paid for HG/SS back in the day (and they were complete bug-tested patch-free physical games WITH a bonus accessory at no extra cost and a second region). It's amazing how generous Nintendo was back then, and yet, with the Switch being such a runaway success, they have never been so stingy. People indulging this DLC BS are ruining the franchise (and the long-term value of physical copies) for the rest of us. I can still go back and play my DS games, but once Nintendo pulls the plug on the Switch eShop (the Wii and DSi shops are already dead), if somebody needs to replace their Switch, they won't be able to redownload patches/DLC for Sword/Shield in order to enjoy the complete experience.
Man, my third Pokémon game after Diamond and Platinum. I remember my mind was BLOWN when I found out that I could go to Kanto and battle 8 more gym leaders, and I remember fighting Blue while watching Harry Potter 6 on DVD while my parents were out. Good days
By far my favorite Pokémon games. Spent 250+ hours in it, the most of any Pokémon game I've played. Played it back when it came out with my friend (I was 10-11 back then). It may be because if nostalgia but I don't care.
I just realized something. We've had Pokemon following us only three times: Gen 1, Gen 4 and now Gen 7. Also, all three times this has happened it's been at the tail end of the generation. I don't know if this is intentional or not but it's a crazy coincidence. Makes me wonder if GF's gonna continue the pattern or break it in Gen 8.
I was 11 when these games came out, and these are still my favorite Pokémon games all these years later. Favorite memory from these games actually happened recently. I beat Jasmine's level 35 Steelix with my level 28 Horsea with 2 Bubblebeams and a Aurora Beam
The only thing that upset me about these remakes was that they got rid of the female character they introduced in Crystal. I was so mad I played as a male character for the first time.
ITs way better on DS. on switch the controls are shit. the joycons feel awful since their designed to be 2 seperate controllers instead of handheld comfort. everything has to be redesigned for one screen aswell and they could mess it up.
Memory? Why not just buy them and play them still, it's not like old gba games where the internal battery will die

I'm not ignoring Sinnoh or trying to get sympathy for Unova, I just feel like HGSS was when GameFreak wasn't holding anything back and that's such an awesome thing.
i think x and y was pretty good too.ORAS was more for nostalgia really but sun and moon and ultras were a downhill.
@@sakispdsw I feel everything went down hill when the games went 3d. ORAS was great buts thats just me being biased because of nostalgia
@@Arancil uhhh... No.
Best Pokémon remake? Nah best Pokémon games ever
this is a definitive fact, its sad that the newer games havent even come close when all they needed to do was just add on to what these 2 games did. Instead they just kept taking things away.
I really loved the BW2 postgame content and tournament, but the pokeathalon and battle frontier never made a comeback, and set HGSS at the top.
Plus a game is made of so much elements and they couldn't just replicate these ones
They hardly ever do in game events like going back in time with celebi or using arceus to create new Pokémon,
There’s much more I can type about what the 3DS games but I’ve typed enough already.
Aside from super training there have been no “innovations”
The DS Pokemon games was without a doubt, Pokemon’s Golden Era.
Truly I have a majority of the ds games and I've played the majority of the generations. It goes DS games, and then the gameboy ones.

I bought a used SS for $3 on eBay, from a guy from Germany. It’s legit, it has infrared and everything.

Glank he ain’t wrong tho HG/SS is easily the best remake and arguably the best Pokémon game ever

Cause you basically say that all the people who don't agree with you are *wrong,* and their opinion, their tastes, don't count. Avoid making shitty arguments trying to discredit me, thanks.

You can find pokemon at level 33 - 37 and the trainers before the elite four are level 33 - 38. Do your research buddy.

Jay Rodriguez if you’re looking to get back into the series, 2DSs are dirt cheap nowadays and all the games are pretty fairly priced. I’d honestly recommended every generation if you haven’t looked into them!
Johnstone yeah I finally got one, now I just need to buy all the games and play them
Pokémon ranger Shadows of Almia is just amazing i love This game
I’m a big fan of x and y even tho it’s not everyone’s favourites, but I gave it to my boyfriend for him to try his first Pokémon game. I do not like the generation 7 games but visually they are very beautiful
yeah, the Ranger games are actually my favorites. i really loved all of them.
The original games make my childhood, I feel like I need to get a DS and play these remakes
You can play them on a 3DS, too, if you have one of those
@@secrfidr i play this awesome game on my mobile right now! for free! i feel the hype again after so many years!
I completely agree with this video. For me ORAS disappointed me as a remake because they cut a lot of stuff that were in the original and made unnecessary changes that made the game too easy for no reason. Not only that they barely included anything that was from Emerald while HGSS include loads of stuff from Crystal.
like how the hell are you going to leave the battle frontier out of ORAS when it was literally what put hoenn on the map?
@@pokemax93 Exactly
Yep with the ability to have DLC you’d think that theyd include at LEAST the battle tower, seeing as they TEASED IT! But nah gotta have latios after the 5th gym and the battle maison
taijutsugal then they actually banned reviewers from telling that the battlefrontier was not in the game for the first 2 weeks that the game was out too so they knew they fucked up by not putting it in the game
Thank you!!
My favorite Pokemon Region is the Johto, hands down. I LOVED this remake. I just want to see it brought to Nintendo Switch now.
There's nothing more satisfying than getting a shiny in hgss and getting to walk around the region with it.

Today is Sept 12th, 2019, the tenth anniversary of Heartgold and Soulsilver. I wish these masterpieces a happy Birthday.

This generation of Pokemon feels incredibly lazy when compared to past games. I'll wait until the put out proper games in the future.

I have a special place in my heart for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire almost exclusively because of the Pokefinder, being able to select a Pokemon and hunt them repeatedly was an incredible addition that I feel is sorely lacking in the Sun/Moon games and I'd love to see this option return at some point
PowWow Ken I didn’t really like sun or moon didn’t feel like there was that much content was disappointed by those games
The best Pokemon remakes and the best Pokemon game ever made. This is the highest peak Gamefreak ever did an excellent job. Everything is beautiful, exciting and fun to play. They Really put their heart and soul on these games.

I can’t believe you didn’t mention the pokeathlon dome or gym rematches omg
I have soul silver but I never beat it. I haven’t beaten any Pokémon game I own. I really need to beat one.
You do.
You seriously never beat any Pokémon game? (Become the League Champion at least)
They are not even so long games, I remember that when I was younger I was beating them after 2 days of bought them. Except HGSS which both were so complete that it actually took me over 1 week.
AX System I seriously haven’t. I will eventually but as for now I don’t have the time for it. High school is literally killing me at this point in time m
I've beat every main series pokemon game, except these ones. I find gen 4 far too slow, and my 2010 laptop can't handle emulation of them.
HG and SS feel like home to me. Even though I started with D/P/P, HG was the first Pokémon game I actually finished. Such a wonderful game.
I loooooved everything about HGSS, gameplay, graphics, features, everything!!
These games were SO BIG, they had a shitload of content compared to the older ones, it was crazy!
I was so dissapointed when they ditched so many of the great things HGSS brought up, like Pokemon follwing, all the options and many other things in the later versions!
Imo, even the new games on the 3DS and now Switch cant keep up with HGSS in terms of content and quality!

Heart gold was my first Pokémon game ever. I remember picking the thicc ass box off the shelf and I had no idea what it was, the cover just looked cool. And when I got home, I slid it into my DSi, and the rest is history. That game got me into Pokémon and I have so many memories and heart strings attached to that game, to my first starter, to my first adventure. I truly love it with all my heart. And now that I’m older, and after being able to play through all the Pokémon games from Ruby to lets go, it made me appreciate how great HG/SS really were. One of the greatest games of all time, and one of my most loved too
Same here, but black/white 2 is a much better game..
I've played HG and SS about 4-5 times already and boy it never fails me. The story, side story, the longevity of the game and other cool features was put together inside a single cartridge, this has to be the best pokemon game ever.

Imagine a Pokemon game with every region.
It wouldn't even make sense
"You can still fight Red in this game, but he's even more difficult than in Gold/Silver."
(Cue Vietnam flashbacks of Lvl 81 Pikachu)
Man, my third Pokémon game after Diamond and Platinum. I remember my mind was BLOWN when I found out that I could go to Kanto and battle 8 more gym leaders, and I remember fighting Blue while watching Harry Potter 6 on DVD while my parents were out. Good days
By far my favorite Pokémon games. Spent 250+ hours in it, the most of any Pokémon game I've played. Played it back when it came out with my friend (I was 10-11 back then). It may be because if nostalgia but I don't care.
I have 500 hours in usum lol

I just realized something. We've had Pokemon following us only three times: Gen 1, Gen 4 and now Gen 7. Also, all three times this has happened it's been at the tail end of the generation. I don't know if this is intentional or not but it's a crazy coincidence. Makes me wonder if GF's gonna continue the pattern or break it in Gen 8.
its a special event feature to celebrate pokemon. its not a core feature so it wont be in gen 8
8:56 when I played the game, I got stuck for hours because I didn’t see that windows, it’s a bit hidden
