This is the first of a four-part series analyzing my favourite Pokemon regions - Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova!
    Johto analysis: ua-cam.com/video/nTpS62NRTA8/v-deo.html
    Hoenn analysis: ua-cam.com/video/rYJXnL-tDYU/v-deo.html
    Unova analysis: ua-cam.com/video/zLSHJqJ9rVc/v-deo.html
Also, one little correction - I said that Lake Valor was adjacent to Twinleaf, but I misspoke and meant to say Lake Verity.

I just hope the remake won't follow this trend of overly childish pokemon games, and will embrace the mature and solemn aura of Sinnoh.
Yes, It's a game for kids.

I hope they dont ruin Sinnoh in the remakes, even ORAS good as it was felt very kid friendly, I really want the new DPP to be more challenging and with the same aura, but after seeing Sun, Moon, US, UM and Sword / Shield I realised that we are screwed, each new game gamfreak just dumbs down the games and makes the story feel less and less meaningful, I am playing through Shield now and this new team is just annoying, unrepeatable and unneeded, even team plasma was relatable and you could see where Cyrus was coming from.

I don't get it, I remember playing D & P at launch and I really liked it. But when Platnium came out, it seemed like a rehash of D & P but added Giritiana (idk how to spell it) and ironed out the technical problems of D & P but that's it. It was basically replaying the same game but with slight differences, like what's the big deal behind that? Am I missing something, I haven't played that since launch so maybe.

@@pralenkaman8105 You could see attempts at a good story in XY, but the game never followed through with the elements it began with. A king gone mad after losing his Pokémon to war, obsessed over building a michine with two goals: reviving the dead, and ending the conflict with mass death on all sides. After an immeasurable amount of death, the King's beloved Pokémon leaves him, horrified at the atrocities he had committed for its sake. The king is left alone, wandering in a desolate land, inadvertently cursing himself with immortality with the same machine that claimed so much life, in contemplation of what he had done.
Hundreds of years later, he learns his lesson, and his Pokémon comes back. I skipped over a few details in between, but they are minor. This was not a fleshed out story.

The worst Mystery Dungeon game also came out during Gen 5, while Gen 3 had greats like 1st Mystery Dungeon, & the Shadow Pokemon Duology, along with the last Pokemon Pinball game. I would like to add something about Veilstone city.
Veistone is a city of entertainment, where people are allowed to forget about all of what is going on with there life and have fun. From the common employee who wants to escape from his endless routine, to the youth who just want to have a break from a society they don't necessarily relate to.
This is a city of outcast people that can't really adapt to life, and must have their void filled with never-ending entertainment to go on with life.
And so I think this is a very clever touch to put de galactic HQ in this city. Because the evil team is often composed of lost, outcast young people who are influenceable, and so an easy target for Cyrus to get them radicalized. Cyrus must certainly have known what he was doing when he choose the localization of his HQ, which makes him even eviler and cool to me.

the original kino's journey was a wonderful and at times horrifying watch very interesting and made you think i mean REALLY THINK. its one of the few philosophical oriented anime i know of and have watched and it really dives into the worlds. the art in it may be a little dated but i would definitely take the original over the 2017 remake any day. having watched the OG years before the remake was made the voice actor change of 2017 was too jarring for me. and in my opinion didn't fit the characters Kino and Hermes as well as the original. the original had more continuity and stories and while kino was and will always be a badass girl the focus was more on the philosophical scenarios each country faced and her experiences with them. it is a wonderful series though it has a much slower pace than the 2017 remake the payoff is much greater and leaves a greater and lasting impact on you. ahh i just realized i went off on a tangent of how much i love the original 2003 kino's journey. but hopefully there will be some you take this to heart and give the original kino's journey a watch and come to enjoy it as much as i did and still do

Sinnoh is honestly perfect. The games had a rough start with Diamond and Pearl, on the technical side, but the region itself and the content offered was immense. So many improvements to the mechanics of the game too and a fantastic amount of content that was improved on even further in Platinum. I adore Hoenn and Johto, but even that doesn't come close to Sinnoh for me.

Sinnoh has long since been my favorite region (tied with Hoenn) largely because I absolutely LOVE cold/icy areas and also because I can really get into the atmosphere there. The slow-paced nature of the region paired with some of the absolute best music In the series leaves me with a good amount of time to enjoy my adventure with my character's Pokemon as we experience the region and grow together as a team. It never really feels like I'm just going through a place as a pit stop to the get to the cool parts of my journey, but rather I find myself looking forward to getting to a location I know I really like while kind of dreading the fact that I have to leave the place I'm at currently. I seriously cannot watch anyone else play a Sinnoh game before I want to stop the video and start up a new game of Platinum. To me, Gens 3, 4, & 5 while all different, have a kind of heart to them that I love despite my inability to explain that aspect of them very well.
Also I wish I could subscribe TWICE for what you said about Eterna Forest, Canalave City and Northern Sinnoh. I never really want to leave those areas once I get there even though I know I need to beat the game.

I couldn't read when i stole Blue version from my brother and played it through just liking the cool monsters)
B: It was incredibly comfy. There's just something soothing about playing through this gen
C: It's very similar in a lot of places to the area i live in. Similar climate and appearance (minus the big mountain, though an especially large moor nearby filled that gap in my young mind).

@@letsgetfluffy3138 ah but apparently players don't have the time to travel that far according to gamefreak. apparently they don't have the time for using their brain either they don't have the time for strategy. why use strategy when you can easily brute force everything.

Finally got around to watching this after it was stuck in my bookmarks for 3 days. Amazing video! I totally agree and everything you said, while embellished at times, was backed up by stuff from the game. You really and truthfully captured the aura of Sinnoh. I wish you could do it for Sun and Moon but it’s okay if you don’t!

I’ve always felt gen 4 has had the most bang for its buck. Hgss just have an enormous amount of content between the two regions and d/p/pt being based in the sinnoh region have always had a grandiose feeling about them. Even once the game is completed it always feels like there is somewhere to explore. Sinnoh is the only region that feels like a whole country with lots of unique areas that are worth exploring, I’m glad pearl was my first game and that I got to experience the most dynamic and intriguing region first. Maybe it’s just my nostalgia talking but I feel like gen 4 was when the Pokémon franchise was at its peak aesthetic, art style, game play, story writing and over all vibe; especially in the overworld. Come to think of it as I’m writing this comment I realise the post game in sinnoh, where you unlock access to the island with the survival area, that honestly feels like an entire alolan island.

Everytime I watch these videos, my appreciation and love for the regions are awoken again. It's easy to forget these things while not playing the games, but these videos perfectly captures the feeling of going through the worlds and experiencing them.
