    Omg. When I heard you say “gully washer” I got choked up. I’m from Georgia and that’s what we would always call a very heavy rain. We’d say “it come a gully washer last night” lol.

    I was actually considering trying to build my own small trailer I had been watching videos on that and one of yours popped up I fell in love with the hiker trailer I think I'm ordering one here in the next few months thank you for all the recommendations

    This video gave me a couple of chuckles.
    First was when you pulled up with an overland camper in a 'Michigan-flat' RV campground The second was when you where talking about your fridge: 'You aren't in Bear country' Of course not- you're in BEER country! Glad to see you are getting out there. You've got some good ideas here 👍🏾

    • @MWDAdventures
      @MWDAdventures  5 років тому +1

      Marcel D I had to say that with the fridge. I get a lot of people that ask why I dare to leave a fridge outside. Lol. I don’t camp like that normally. We do an annual camping trip and my friends all have huge rv and request all inclusive campsite. Which costs 65 a night ouch.

    Cool set up. I've been thinking about picking up one of these trailers...
    The french toast looked great.
    Thank you for taking the time putting these videos together..

    Thank you so much for sharing on your trailer. I miss the locations I can go to with tent camping now that we have a big travel trailer. I think I have the wife in agreement to sell the 28 footer and get back to basic. Kids can sleep in the truck with topper and good to go. Please keep the videos coming as we are really enjoying them.

    For the other side rug, we use one of those antifatigue mats (with the wholes in it) that you stand on for food prep or out in your garage floor. We picked ours up at Menards or home depot. All the dirt shakes off and you can stand on it w/o shoes.

    For when it’s raining ,take two or three float, blow then up an lay them across the roof to dampen the sound of rain.

      I love the sound of rain on the roof - except when it is really coming down hard 🙂

    As far as a sag puddling up area catching water. Get 3/4 inch or half inch conduit. Long enough to lay over other ribs. Bend a slight bow in it. And maybe tee it of to the end of the tarp for water to flow. End of tarp take a second pole drive wood into with hammer. Drill a small hole into wood and tap a small nail that the tee can lay over nail. Not sure you understand what I just described or not but it might have wheel turning in your brain. Just a thought I will share. Happy camping.

    How much weight is your trailer? do you have braking system on it.I have a 2015 CRV. I am concerned about weight.was thinking about a mid range .thank you I like your videos! just keep sound up☺

    • @MWDAdventures
      @MWDAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      We brought our trailer to a CAT scale and fully loaded with all of our gear, it weighted 1640#. Yes we do have braking system. It isn't really necessary when traveling around the flat Mid West, but we wanted to be prepared for adventures that included more mountains.

    Best awning is the Ostrich Wing. South African designed and made. There are several copies. Cost approx 1300 Australian dollars. Comes with one pole with options for more. The design is made for no poles. It’s free standing by means of brilliant counter levered swing out supports mounted to roof rack. You can drive slowly to adjust camping spots , with awning still up. Windy conditions obviously not. I have one mounted to Yakima flat form rack. It is also hinged to swing out brackets to lower profile when travelling and and parking at home. The unit sits on my 200 series Landcruiser.

    • @MWDAdventures

      Sounds nice. I only had 3 options from the factory Darche, Foxwing, and Alucab.

    In rain alternate the height of your poles by an inch or so. That helps the guttering. When you have the poles of course.

    • @MWDAdventures
      @MWDAdventures  5 років тому

      InMused great tip. Since this video we raised the over all height of the whole awning. I will try this next time. Thanks for watching.

    if you hold the bowl of egg in one hand close to the griddle, dip your bread in the egg mixture and place on the griddle, then you don't have all that drippy egg stuff to clean up.

    Thanks for the videos, super helpful as I wait for my Hiker build! Will that Dometic fridge fit on the bottom shelf of the galley?

    • @MWDAdventures
      @MWDAdventures  5 років тому

      A 35 would if built that way as my stands now no. I bought the 50 and it would take up a lot of space. If you google hiker there are a few images of a 40 - 50 in place. You have to decide if you want it there or not. I personally like to take it on day trips so I designed the galley that way. Also check out my hiker trailer video from my first factory tour it shows a trailer with side slide out fridge.

    I really interested in getting an off-road camper to live in year round. But I don’t want some lame “camper” you see all over. Would it be possible to live in one of these like a mobile home so to speak. I also live in western New York so it gets pretty cold over here. (Could a small wood stove or some other source of heat be added?
