Matt and Wendy, I Watch all your videos about Hiker Trailers, I really like how Hiker let's you buy a plain Trailer and slowly add what you may want on it ...And , I think 🤔 it helps a customer that ain't got a lot of money to hand out ? So ,this gives someone a chance to come back and add that item on they couldn't afford 5 months ago ? Thanks Matt and Wendy for sharing and keeping us up-to-date on the info 👍 Cause, I think 🤔 Hiker Trailers is where , I will be going next summer ☀️
Man oh man! We just went to the Denver shop last weekend and it’s not quite as nice as the Mothership in Indiana! What a great crew though. We were having issues with the solar on our Extreme Off Road and Rob (Indiana) was awesome to hop on a FaceTime call with me and help me troubleshoot it. This year was our second season with the Hiker and true to form we got outdoors WAY more than other years. Great video Matt! Cheers from Utah!
Thanks Matt and Wendy. That sure looks huge compared to when we picked ours up in 2017! For such a large facility, there were very few people around. Did you go during off hours? I'd think with the backlog, they would have a full crew running. Anyone left from when Wes and Megan owned the place?
@@MWDAdventures I forgot to ask; As a 30 year RIDGID product designer, I couldn’t help but notice the pipe threading machine. I can’t recall ever seeing threaded pipe on a Hiker. Did you happen to notice what they used it for? Thanks
Terrific! I really like the Hiker trailer. MY wife preferred the TC Teardrop, so you just know what we ended up ordering. >😎 In any case, this is a great video. Thank you!
Super cool trailers. My only wonder or question is the roof cross bars. Not the cross bars themselves but the brackets. It’s just 4 bolts into the side of the trailer with what looks like thin metal brackets and then by cutting out their HT logo into them takes away strength of the bracket. I’d like to see a video on the weight limits and a closer look at those brackets.
I called them and asked. They told me they dont have an exact number but theyre pretty strong. Should be able to hold a rooftop tent with 2 or 3 adults in it. So I dont think it is an issue.
I got a reply from Bob and he stated the brackets are 3/16 carbon steel, laser cut, and powder coated. Plenty robust enough to support the bars. We have more details next week on the roof top tents.
@@MWDAdventures this trailer with a rooftop tent is the best set up. I’d put the kids up there and mommy and daddy “downstairs”. And Give the kids a radio to check in.
Hi Matt, I was wondering what size trimax wheel lock you have on your HIker ? I got the electric brakes too . are they TCL65 or TCL75. saw a comment that this woman had a hard time because of brakes. would like to know what size. thanks
Nice tour Matt. Question: why use plywood VS all fiberglass or composite like Runaway or Tiny Camper Company? Stronger, lighter, better insulation, no leaks, etc. Thoughts??
When I called IN a few weeks ago I was told roof top AC (or any AC) is not available so I went with a Runaway instead. That's a shame. I'm guessing they have so much business right now, they are not too worried about it. 😃
So cool! Are you guys gonna check the Colorado facility sometime? my trailer is being built there. Really cool they are ISO certified. Pretty legit company. American quality built. Patience is the name of the game now. I am gonna be waiting many months lol.
I agree, that is a long time to wait- they are working on getting their build times down. We ordered ours at the end of the summer and had it in time to start the next camping season, so it actually worked out well for us.
They want $15K for a camper that has no frame or insulation??? Are they insane? I will be lucky if my roof doesn't cave in over time with my kayaks on them. I would NOT put a roof top tent on this and think that 3/4 inch plywood is strong enough to hold it. This is NOT a sturdy build at all. Even the hitch in the rear is cheap. This is a very cheap Wood Shell that's covered with an ultra thin layer of aluminum and trimmed out to make it look strong. I was going to buy one until I saw the real guts if this. For $5K you can build a much stronger and better trailer that will out last this.
Cheaply made trailers that sell for way too much. I’m making one with a steel base frame, steel upper cage frame, super heavy duty torsion axles, wood interior, etc. and the price is not even half as much as these.
They're ISO certified. That's impressive! Looking forward to the next installment!
@Harper Eli Yup, been watching on kaldrostream for since december myself :)
@Harper Eli Definitely, been watching on Kaldrostream for since november myself :)
I need to make the trip there from fort wayne. thanks for sharing.
This makes me even more excited to get my hiker!!! Thanks for doing the video it was great to see the building process!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the tour. Mine is in there somewhere!
We show more trailers this week as we show off the many different accessories - you just might see yours.
thank you we are picking ours up in a few weeks

@@MWDAdventures that would be cool. We have a rooftop ac so it mite be easier to spot. Thank you sir
I like these Hiker Trailers. Unfortunately not available in Europe.
At 7:50: Birch made in Russia!
Happy to have found this video. I wonder what they are sourcing from Russia.
Nice tour. Looks like they have come a long way from Noblesville facility where I picked up mine ! Good for them!
This was a great tour and they are located so close to me. Can't wait for the continued tour. Thank you for sharing and be safe.
I just picked up my new hiker trailer Monday 26 Apr 21. I can’t wait to take her out on her maiden voyage!
Get out and do some camping :-)
Hi Matt missed you on Saturday l put my deposit down on Monday. Back in Pa. Looking forward to seeing your tour today.
Sounds great!
At 5:05 he says they're doing roof mounted A/C I dont see this option on the website, guess I'll call in for details.
I think the roof mounted AC is something you need to talk to them about.
Great and honest tour fair play
My husband was in there yesterday.
Are these built in the Denver location as well?
They used to be built in both Indiana and Colorado. Last year they moved all the production to Indiana.
Thanks Matt and Wendy. That sure looks huge compared to when we picked ours up in 2017! For such a large facility, there were very few people around. Did you go during off hours? I'd think with the backlog, they would have a full crew running.

We scheduled our tour on a Saturday for best audio. They did have some workers working on trailers in the quality control area.

Great video Matt. The new name and logo are awesome. Nice job.
Thanks JH , appreciate the support..
I would be interested in knowing what material they skin the campers with.
Aluminum skin
I’m curious as to why hiker trailer does not offer a 5 x 10 Xtreme off Road???
These trailers are made to go off road - longer frames would make it harder to get off-road and increase the chance of the back end bottoming out.
Can they make them bigger?
5x10 is the biggest they make
What was the skin made of? 🤔
Do they glue something to the trailer?
It is an aluminum skin.

Why do you use wood instead of aluminum for the boxes?
Might be an issue getting Birch plywood from Russia with the sanctions going on.
Rooftop ACs? I had heard those are a no go just a few weeks ago.
They are a go in Indiana at this time, not sure about Denver
Love it Matt & Winnie. lol Wendy. See you Manana.

I don't have the Trimax wheel lock, use a ball lock only.
Did they completely move out of their Noblesville, IN facility?
Yes they did. Completely out grew it.
@@MWDAdventures thanks, Matt
hope they start making bicycle trailer that would be cool
I wish they used a different material for the box other than ply wood.
It is marine grade plywood......

I also went for a runaway because the wait time was ridiculous. No regrets here because Runaway gets you way more for the money and cheaper.

Wood boxes are so 1960
Where's Wes!??
Wes is no longer part of the day to day operations.
If the wait time is still one year or longer no thanks. They need to hire more people
Per their website: Colorado: 12 months Indiana: 6 months
Hiker would be my choice for sure. But 8 - 15 month turn around on an order is just not acceptable to me.
