Anita Baker’s voice is so unique, that the very first notes that come out of her throat from her soul there is no denying that whatever she will be singing will be on point.
I can't think of a current R&B singer who can hold a candle to Anita Baker. Her voice is lush and exudes warmth. She is most definitely one of the BEST singers of all time.
This is not a beat backing Anita, this is live instruments(drums, heavy on the piano, keyboards, etc). This is real R&B with a jazz influence. I can't wait to see her in Vegas this year! Alot of us grew up on our parents playing Anita. It was time to clean the house when she was playing. Now, we've become fans. Anita is classic, a true vocalist!!
She has such a beautiful voice, so jazzy as well as soulful. I love so many of her songs. I suggest the long version of Body and Soul for another Anita reaction.
Her voice is velvety smooth!! No need to twist and turn the notes around.... she's got a beautiful clear r&b tone. Control, spot on. She's playing her voice like an instrument, she knows what it can do, and uses that to her advantage.
This entire album is a masterpiece. The songs. Her voice, as sweet and thick as molasses. The production. The arrangements. Tthe backing vocals. Just the best.
The entire "Rapture" album is phenomenal. Also, her album "Compositions" is a masterpiece. She's only released 7 albums in her career and is considered R&B, soul, and jazz royalty!
Anita Baker- it’s not just her amazingly unique voice but everything is perfect about her songs. The musicians, background vocals, timing, emotions, production-just everything. There’s no-one like her in music.
Miss Anita is from my hometown. She's a total sweetheart! I met her once. She was genuine & kind. I love all her music!!! Can you believe early in her career an exec. told her she couldn't sing?!?! Your first word was WOW, that's how everybody feels about Anita Baker!💖
I've nicknamed her Ms. LOVE. This song is a Rembrandt put to music! I can listen to and ENJOY every song on this CD! They don't write'm or sing'em like this any more! She's a jewel in a sea of glass!
this is an artist that knows she can sing she dose not ever push or strain it is all wel within her comfort zone which is why she just sounds so damned relaxed and goodess like....
A few female singers I think you have been sleeping on Joan Armatrading Love And Affection - an amazing singer songwriter, a beautiful song and a bonus saxophone! Macy Gray has a unique voice - I Try, Still, Sweet Baby Duffy is another unique voice - Mercy, Stepping Stone Lily Allen has a real sense of fun - The Fear, Not Fair
The bass is from Ready Freddie Washington, one of the best bassists who worked on all her album 'Rapture'. Ready Freddie Washington worked with the most famous artists: Anita Baker, Al Jarreau, Whitney Houston etc. Most recognisable for the song 'Forget me nots'
My regret is not seeing her free Stone Grove concert in San Francisco in 2012. But thank God for UA-cam. It has some if not all of her performances from that concert. React to her songs Caught Up In The Rapture, Same Ole Love, No One In The World, You Bring Me Joy, Giving You The Best That I Got, Good Love, Just Because, Perfect Love Affair, Soul Inspiration, Fairy Tales, Body And Soul and I Apologize please.
I cannot tell you how many times I've listened to this song in my lifetime and I haven't heard it in so long and forgot how amazing her voice was thank you thank you and to thank you I would like to recommend a phenomenal R and B group to you they are called the tesky brothers they are from Australia and 1st song should be rain and you will be a fan trust me
Did you know that she was in a group before her famous solo career? Check her out as a member of Chapter 8 in I Just Want to be Your Girl. They had another jam titled Ready for Your Love. Check them out.
Oh wow is right!!! Anita won two Grammys for this song and for the album it came from. So very good. Check out You Bring Me Joy and Caught Up In the Rapture of You from that album, Rapture. So aptly named, the album is outstanding. You brought us reactions to Roberta Flack and now Anita Baker. So good to hear these wonderful women getting some attention!
I love her voice!!! 🌸💗 when i studied singing my teacher want me to sing this song, because she think i have a voice that can be near to Anita's voice... anyway her voice is amazing!
No one can convince me that this isn't one of the best songs EVER...it's in my top 5. Saying that Anita is amazing, is an understatement. There are 2 other female powerhouses, of soul, i hope you can react to. The triple threat, singer, song writer, producer...Angela Winbush. PLEASE! check out Angela Winbush - Angel, and please do the audio version. The video cuts out some of the best parts. Secondly, another amazing Angela, Angela Bofill. Check out "I Try". I'll eat a Rottweiler, just to get you to react to these songs😅
She sounds like no other, and no one comes close to her. Phenomenal performance. She did a live version on a late night show and the audience gave her a standing ovation.
I just became your 1K like for this video! Anita Baker is an artist that I didn't appreciate nearly enough when this song came out (1986) but the more I listen to her and hear young folks like yourself totally getting it right off the bat, the more I love her. Great voice, great composition, great percussion. :)
You can't get more soulful than Anita. Yes, Aretha could belt it out like nobody else, and she's fantastic. And nobody had better range or vocal control than Whitney, but personally I didn't care for her brassy tone. To me, Anita was really a joy to listen to.
Best Female Vocalist ever on the planet earth. My favorite collaboration would be her and Roy Orbison. Not sure if you have done his music but it will make sense …. That whole albums is insane. I played it so many times and learned the piano and let me tell you if you can play the piano. Play this and the girls skirts will drop Subbed fo sho
Her "Rapture" album is one of the best I've ever bought. Still play it to this day.
One of best ever made, hands down....
