Mike Barnes Drums Amazon Shop
I now have an Amazon store featuring all the gear, books etc you see here in these videos, and that I use myself on gigs/in the studio and recommend. It doesn’t cost any more to buy from this store than it does from regular Amazon, but you’d be supporting this channel by doing so, which would be very much appreciated!:

One of the sickest songs from the sickest bands
Awesome Mike!! We used to play this tune with my band...I might try to record both drums and guitar for this one. What level do you think is required to play this intro? on a 1 to 8 scale.
Cheers man! Nice one - bass drum speed for those quads is probably the limiting factor! So Grade 4 or 5 I'd say :)
@@MikeBarnesDrums 🙌🙌🙌
My sons just mastered this song,,thanks to you Mike 🤘
Great Peter! Thanks for watching :)
One of the best lessons I’ve ever watched , thanks for this brother

Awesome video. Just bought a roland td07kv? Lol
After the first 2 bars, do you go floor tom, 1tom, floor floor snare?(i see the kick)
Or 1 tom, floor floor snare (i see the kick)
Ty!
Love ya vids! Loved the lesson. Was super good. I watched a video of Matt Sorum playing this live and he doesn’t hit a constant floor Tom though. Just a minor detail I noticed cos I’m obsessed with this song at the moment! 😬 - Josh
This is the video I saw of him. Notice he plays just 3 hits on the floor Tom during the second part? ua-cam.com/video/vgi_71JVkL8/v-deo.html
@@TheEditSuite Cool, yeah seen that a few times - he also orchestrates the opening lick slightly differently around the kit. Just goes to show for me it's the principles that makes this work, rather than the finer details of orchestration. But of course, feel free to play it just like he does here. Thanks for watching and paying attention! Appreciated.
@@MikeBarnesDrums totally I’m learning so much from you! Thanks so much!
Regarding heel-up bass drumming, I started learning in the 90s and learned heel-down. My body really fights against me trying heel up. Any tips for getting me to change over to it?
Keep going! “Genius is just perseverance in disguise” Make the movements slowly at first and build. Time, effort, consistency. Thanks for watching!
Yeeeeeahhhhhhh
07:32 Am I the only one who started to hear Hard To Handle?
Can I ask what kit you're using Mike?
Thanks for this mike, as usual this will take me a lot faster to learn because of you...it’s been like the holy grail of drum parts but I’m sure I’ll get it now
Nice, classic drum part! Matt Sorum - the master of the straight-ahead, memorable drum part!
Thanks again for breaking it down
Another classic intro….thanks…..Can I put a request in for the intro to Metallica’s Enter Sandman please ?

What kind of drumset is that your playing? Is it a hybrid?

"If I have to tell you that, we're probably not going to be friends." LMAO
Actually I don’t mean that at all :) There will of course be tons of young drummers just getting to know this music! Cheers Steve!
@@MikeBarnesDrums Nobody thought that was serious. I'm old enough to remember hearing the same about "Sing Sing Sing", "Wipeout" and a few others.
how much your kits cost???
Hi!How to play black dog
American band
ua-cam.com/video/N5Wig9-LNyk/v-deo.html ? Thanks for watching David!
This should be easy and simple and you made it like rocket science. I hope you're not a drum teacher.
And that's not even nearly right ffs. It's not like even the same song.
Uber slow!!! 😂
I play only by ear and will never learn how to play that stupid intro.
Ok!
You might have to keep practicing until it ztops being fun, but you'd be surlrised what you can force your body to do. The first time I heard the drums on Sepultura "Territory" it was like hearing a foreign language. Still not fully mastered and have to improvise here and there, but can respectfully do it justice. I struggle with the 32'nd note hi-hats on Mr. Brownstone. Some people are born with the gift and some are not, but practice and committed effort can make up for a lot.
