OMG this is a total flashback to highschool for me. I used to like this song. Long Hair and MTV.
They were Yesterday and Today in the 70s. They did a lot of great albums, but never became major mainstream. This song was probably their biggest hit. My fave is the Mean Streak album from 83, a little bit before this. This video was big on MTV in summer 86, it was played constantly. Its not summer every year, till i see this video. Filmed at Venice Beach, until recently, they still had most of the landmarks you see in the video
My best friend and I were friends with them in the 80's. We met Leonard (drummer)at a Motley crue party, after the concert, in Texas. A few months these later they were back and backing up Aerosmith. Leonard and Joey recognized us at a signing party before the show and we gave him a ride to the venue.. We got lost, Lol. He was almost late to the show.
The next day they called an asked us to meet them in another city 4 hours away. So we went.
We visited them in California and went to a bunch of different shows.
They were very nice guys. It wasn't like everyone would think. They were all happily married. Leonard was a huge partier though. Now they have all passed except Dave. 😞. RIP Leonard, Joey and Phil.

Y&T. One of the EARLY GREATS ... They influenced Metallica... This was Mid 80s.. they formed in the 70s.. Y&T (Yesterday and Today) are a Bay Area (Oakland, CA) band that were hard rock pioneers who inspired a lot of household names to one degree or another. Summertime Girls isn’t highly representative of their catalog (a deep catalog) but it was the most commercially successful one. The next biggest songs commercially speaking were Don’t Stop Running, Lipstick and Leather, Contagious and Mean Streak. See links below. But they have 12 albums of great material you would be wise to explore. If I had to pick one song, my favorite is called “I believe in you” - an EPIC bluesy hard rock power ballad. These guys were the kings of great power ballads(lots of hard songs too) and they were best known for kicking ass live…they still do.

Great reaction, Y & T did alot of amazing songs, this is not one of them. This is one of their commercially successful songs and it got lots of play on MTV. 'Forever' 'Rescue Me' 'Midnight in Tokyo' 'Black Tiger' 'Mean Streak' 'Hang em High' are actual rockers. They are worth a bit of a deep dive as they were amazing people too. They would play unadvertised stops at local bars around Northern California to warm up for tours and would let people from the audience who could play get on stage with them. My younger brother was allowed to play an entire set and sing with them. But he is an amazing guitarist and a great singer too. Plus he knew all their songs, so he could pull it off. Enjoy. Chris

The robot was their sorta mascot "rock" he's on the cover of the album in rock we trust. Band formed in Oakland in 1974. Still touring today. It's a rabbit hole you WANT to venture down. Insanely good band that's VERY underrated. Check out songs like forever, rescue me, black tiger, open fire, this time, I'm coming home, don't stop running, contagious, mean streak, midnight in Tokyo, the list goes on. Awesome band
Yes, the original uncensored video for Mötley Crüe's 1987 song "Girls, Girls, Girls" was banned from MTV due to nudity. The video was shot at the Seventh Veil Strip Club in Los Angeles, one of the band's favorite haunts, but the nudity caused issues getting the clip to air. The band members eventually filmed a second nudity-free version using some of the strippers scantily clad.
Love that you reacted to this! This was a very popular song and did get lots of radio and MTV play. Not sure why Crue "Girls...got banned, probably bc so overtly about strip bars. idk. Y&T stands for "Yesterday And Today" which is a reference to The Beatles having a greatest hit's album of that name. Y&T was NOT a 1 hit wonder, they had many hits, though this was probably the most successful hit. I saw them live in the 80's and they rocked! Great band. Great reaction. Everything was allowed . Girls, girls was never banned to my knowledge back then. It was the 80’s . Sex , skin, partying was a must in videos .

the ``high things`` you hear are little chimes ... i believe they are called ...little metal strips or the well known triangle chime ..u can arrange them in a keybord fashion like a tone ladder ... of course they r in a keyboard as well ... as i believe my old roland jx3p has them as well ..
and yes this was on tv ...now why dont u see gimme gimme good lovin by helix.. the video was made by playboy... just as easy on tv, later it became a little scandal for 1 of the girls turned out to be underaged but she went to be 1 of the biggest well known porn stars of the 80ies...i forgot the name ...but as i understood she was the biggest.
1 of the other girls i know was rinke brinke ..she was famous for horror movies ..her scream was gold ..she as well played in several movies but mostly she earned her money for the scream ..hence miss horror movie scream..
