The most impressive thing about you is that you just do it and get it done. So many people try to stop you from doing something because it's not right but at the end of the day it always seems damn near as right as what they were going to do. Man I give you a big up and much respect for what you're doing

As a body shop owner, I approve this repair. I'm that guy that has fixed the unfixable and done it in ways that were said to be impossible. Good job Nakia, and if they don't like it they can change the channel. Lol

Any high end resto I have seen has had the car literally covered in filler. They use that to block the entire car down to a better than factory smoothness. All the anti filler people have probably never seen a vehicle repair, panel replacement or resto. This is one way of doing what you did and it came out damn well.

Thanks for this video, I'm restoring my 89 coupe and have been on the fence about my roof as the previous owner put in an aftermarket sunroof that leaks bad. My local bodyshop wanted $5000 to replace the roof skin! now seeing you do it I'm willing to give it a try.

I'm new to the fox community having bought a 91gt roller a couple months back, and I really need to get this off my chest. You guys, working together, have shown me; that with some hard work, dedication, and a little bit of know how and research, there's really not much that can stand in your way. Obviously factors like cost and material availability, but you and a few other channels have proven that to be near myth as well. So many times I've went over my car and all I see is dollar signs and thought about selling my fox, but this channel and a few others like Neo, Foxcast, blue oval, and fox junk, have helped me build confidence and kept me moving forward. I just wanna tip my hat to all of you and say thank you for helping a younger generation find inspiration. My goal is to build this and hopefully show my 4 boys what can come of hard work and determination. You guys are awesome.

Looks 100% better! great job, can’t wait to
See the final product. Helpful tip if you don’t know already. Use a really aggressive sanding disc when knocking down the spot welds like a 36 grit. It seems like it would put more heat in the metal but it’s actually the opposite cause it will allow you move quicker to a new spot just a tip I picked up a long the years. Great job though.

Nice job! I have done the same thing and I gotta say you did a great job man. Better than I did tbh. A good word of wise to people who hate filler is get used to using body filler. It's a part of the process. Anyone who thinks otherwise is being unrealistic. Go around and watch pros in body shops they use filler too lol. Alot of times a whole panel replacement is unrealistic and unnecessary. Anyways awesome work though can't wait to see some paint layed down on papa T's car! 👍👍

Man, that is such a large piece to try to section in, I need to do the roof on my pace car, and I drilled out the spot welds from a donor car, which I guess is the proper way to do it, but that is a lot of drilling. LOL I filled an antennae hole on a fender, and I had the metal warp on me, tried to be careful and zap the welder and cool, but it still warped.

You are exactly right Brew2L. This roof on this car will be better than it was. In the immortal words of Frank Sinatra, "I did it my way." All the haters and trolls can hit the highway. I'm a bit of a shade tree mechanic, and this improvement was far more than I would be comfortable doing. I am mostly self taught. My dad was a gear head back in the day, and he passed on his knowledge to me. I have surpassed his knowledge at this point in my life, but it was a classic case of the student advancing past his teacher. Without my dad, I wouldn't know what I know today.

It's too bad that you had to give that "Disclaimer" to not start bashing how you did the job, to all of the body shop know it alls. The use of fillers in the right hands, is a beautiful thing. One of my dearest friends, that we lost several years ago. Was the best paint and body guy I ever knew. And he proved it. Because there is a very good chance that everyone has seen his work on the cover of magazines and hot rod tv shows one time or another. He would say that you are dead on right on how you all did that transplant. Damn fine job. We did something very similar to my Camaro back in the day. He said that if you think high end shops do not use body filler. Even on a brand new body panel. You do not know what your talking about. Body filler is a necessity in the art of automotive body work.

But then one day he was gone. I have his 3rd gen Camaro project in my back yard. Only because there was no way I was going to allow it to go to the junk yard.
