That's a clean conversion. Props to figuring it all out, I'm sure it took tons of research and forum digging to figure it all out. Looks like a nice upgrade over stock too
@@SarahnTuned You've done the Forester community a great service. Anyone who wants to upgrade the brakes can just watch this and know the whole deal. Great job. You really knocked off some un-sprung weight, which is the best weight to lose.
Well, as a French word accoutrement is generally in reference to clothing, but it wouldn’t be the first word that got additional meaning when used in the English language.

Hi from Sydney Australia, which is where the DBA 5000 series rotors are made. It's great to see you getting parts from companies all over the world. That's called success!
You made the right choice going with the sti knuckle over the wrx one, especially with the new lateral arm. Very nice and so clean. You started getting the details ready for this 9 months ago, bet you're damn happy to have it done!
The video I’ve been waiting for since I subscribe. As a fellow SJ FXT owner i really appreciate this and I wanted to do this to my fxt but the rear stop me because of all the hacking involved and you literally solved the puzzle. Thank you Sarah. Now off to find these parts
Great job Sarah! That takes some research to figure all that out, and order all the parts ahead of time, and without seeing it done anywhere. Just Awesome!
Your excitement is contagious Sarah. I'm excited for you. Can't wait to see you drive Gump with the new upgrades. I'm sure it will be an amazing ride. I so much enjoy your videos Sarah it's hard to believe you're a one-woman show.
While I don't know as much about cars as you. I do love driving. When I recap the the amount of roadtrips that I've taken from Canada to the states it's ridiculous. I've taken completely separate roadtrips trips to rural Oregon, San Francisco , Nogales AZ, Stroudsburg PA, Buffalo NY, Louisville KY, Des Moines IA, NY NY. Two trips to the Grand Canyon ( one I cheated after flying to Austin TX ). On all of these trips - while I didn't always have the most time - I had the privilege of experiencing everything in between. Just last summer, staying in Scottsdale AZ was a dream. The street was so beautiful with the beige stucco houses, palm trees, immaculate yards. It was like a fairytale. The pool was a refreshing lifesaver from the heat ! I'm not rich by any means, but managed to drive to all these places over the years nonetheless. Here in Canada, we get this non stop propaganda in the media that we are supposedly this perfect world citizen. Yet the people you meet up here ( with exceptions of course ) are so self righteous, shallow, and quick to follow the latest fashions/ beliefs. I'm so sad to not be able to take cheap trips away anymore. Some of the people that I've met in America have been the nicest, most down to earth, welcoming people that I've met in my entire life. I'm hopelessly in love with the states and the land of the free. I don't know if I'll ever make it back, but want you to know that you are everything that I love about America wrapped up into one - undeniably beautiful- package. Blessings
I really appreciate they put the threaded holes on the front to pop the rotors off. I did front brakes yesterday and spent 30 minuted with pry bar and sledge to get the rotors off.
It's awesome three years spending a labor schedule on your garage is incredible but it looks you enjoy it as much as us watching you doing it and inspiring us.
Hey Sarah! There are 2 things have to be done a little bit different: 1. Do not lube end of silent-block since its central part has to be tightened to control arm. 2. Silent-blocks have to be tighten in ready to drive position, but it doesn't matter if it is a floating silent-block.
A+ as always. Love the siri interruption. As far as I've always known, the manufacturer people always refer to those style rears as drum-in-hat setups.
All that research paid off! Now do yourself a favor and log what you used and where you used it. That info will help you later on when you need to change or service anything. Kudos for using all factory parts on the swap! It truly is amazing what you can do in a regular garage.
Great job! As another Subie owner, who has spent hours on forums reading about the 170-190 rear brake con swaps, I really appreciate your efforts, and this video. 🔥
When I changed my rotors and pads on my 08 STI hatch from the oem Brembo's to DBA rotors and Hawk Ceramic pads there was a massive change in brake feel.

So this is quite literally the same job I'm prepping to do on my 2020 WRX with the same 2017 STI brembos. Seems that all Subaru's are Lego's, at least the 2015-2021's. Awesome video, stoked to feel the difference with these!

Okay. I really am on board with the front brake change. Better lighter rotors and Brembo calipers and hi performance pads and losing about seven or eight pounds a wheel. Great. But in my humbler world, since over 80 percent of the braking force is in the front wheels..I would leave the rear brake hub set up, and suspension, which you already did a very nice job on, alone. The initial bed in process should be with the pads you are going to use to create proper boundary layer; If you are as OCD as advertised. Nice job Sarah. I love that you used OEM parts to do this. Well, as a French word accoutrement is generally in reference to clothing, but it wouldn’t be the first word that got additional meaning when used in the English language.
@@nicchex10 Totally correct, from an old French word meaning 'seam' and going all the way back to a Latin word consuere, meaning "to sew together'.
Appropriate use especially when matched with blue nail polish!
