I honestly think these are great, there's something so bizarrely nostalgic about unboxed CDs and DVDs from a certain time period (late 90s - early to mid noughties) that makes this video so utterly watchable
About the “Explosive Best Of bond” CD, bond is an English string quartet that plays “classical crossover” and synth pop music. They’re often typeset as bond (with a lowercase b) in deference to the owners of the James Bond trademark
I think another reason the first video (and hopefully this one) did so well is because it's got a bit of '10 Reviews in 10 Minutes' angle to it, where we not only get the "Ooh I wonder what's next!" effect, but we viewers also get a bit of the old Ashens humor in rapidfire.
It's also fun to watch these because it's happily infuriating to see things that we know what they are and you just ignore them or dismiss them out of hand because don't know what they are. :)
@5:36 I would recommend giving Bond a listen. They're an all female kind of pop orchestra group. I remember playing one of their songs in my middle school orchestra class. They're alright!
A few notes: Scratch, from what I remember, is an interesting documentary type film about 70s-90s disk jockeys and how the modern hip hop scene formed. The Sophie Ellis-Baxter album is a plain white CD, the Sharpie marks were added by someone.
I thought that the name O-Town was ringing some kind of bell in my head so I looked them up. They where a boy band formed by a MTV reality show in 2000. 7:23 Wow the Ireland rating is 15+ but the UK rating is 18+ that is the first time in my life I have seen an Irish age rating lower than the British one! Usually Ireland is the much more strict one with many British 15+ movies being 18+ in Ireland. I'm Australian and by random decision I borrowed their A Grand Don't Come for Free album from a library. It's actually a really cool concept album with a flowing story. The way it's written and the almost spoken-word but still catchy vocal delivery really places an image in your head of what's going on. Underrated album.
bond (about 5:50 in) is a 4 piece British/Australian female string quartet, they do classic and synth music a bit like Vanessa Mae does sometimes. They use "bond" lower case to avoid any issues with Bond film music
Seeing the FRED disk in your thumbnail, old as this video is, reminds me I've watched this channel for over 10 years now, and it holds up better than most i've watched (or stopped watching since.). I guess your comedy and joking about random tat just doesn't ever get old lol.
Seeing that The Streets one bought back many memories of being 14 and my dad introducing me to them and just hearing it on repeat...I now listen to them non stop
Soft Bomb was a great album! The Chills are an indie rock band from the 80s and 90s - part of what’s called the Dunedin Sound, of Dunedin, New Zealand. So funny it ended up in one of those boxes, lol!
That double sided DVD with Witchcraft and Shawshank Redemption is part of a big set of this DVD bundle you would get with DVD players and stuff. I remember my parents bought a TV (a big fat one that was attached to the stand), DVD player and a sound system and they got this big box full of movies. Each dvd case would have 4 movies and I swear there was around 40-50 dvd cases. I remember Carry on Doctor (my favourite growing up), Witchcraft, Shutter, I know what you did last summer, rocky... it was just big variety of genres. I’ve still got a few somewhere.
We need follow up video(s) for these mega boxes where Stu finds out what all the mystery discs are and has the inevitable paroxysm over how much of a waste of time it was :D FWIW, the "R" I think is Republica, and the "M" is Maroon 5. No idea what the J was.
...or a follow up when it turns out some of those sampler music CDs turn out the be super rare and sought-after (and thus eminently resealable for a profit) and he binned them?
I can understand why Stewart thought this video idea was stupid at first. The reason this works so well is because it’s literally a loot box. One you don’t have to pay for as a viewer. You experience the surprise along with him and his witty comments help make you laugh even more. Basically, Ashens payed for a loot box and flaunted it around on a stick for 30 minutes.
Strange when the British and Irish film classification boards disagree. Like, you could watch Apocalypto after school in Ireland but would have had to wait three extra years and leave home to see it in the UK.
The sudden shriek of British despair that Ashen makes when Fred rears his ugly head is 10/10.

Same here best band ever
The was also decadence by head automatica
K4RN4GE911 any artist that has understandable lyrics that make sense, and doesn't sound and look like some limpwrist edgelord pussies that were never able to get pussy so they scream in their little "songs".
I cried on the inside when he discarded the doors
“Believe” was “don’t believe the truth” by oasis!! “Homesick” a day to remember, brilliant album 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Was it
As an American I know one The Streets song and it's Fit But You Know It, but only because it was on the FIFA 2005 soundtrack. That said, the song is awesome. Please send me that DVD thanks.
Game Fiction I'm from Germany and I know the song because it is in a tv commercial that's running all the time atm...
Thats great but you’ll need a Region -Free or PAL DVD player to play it.
i from new zealand and i know the streets music i really like mike skinners music
fit but you know it
never went to church
heaven for the weather
dry your eyes mate
blinded by the lights
going through hell
when you wasn't famous
everything is borrowed
don't mug yourself
really good songs
I'm Australian and by random decision I borrowed their A Grand Don't Come for Free album from a library. It's actually a really cool concept album with a flowing story. The way it's written and the almost spoken-word but still catchy vocal delivery really places an image in your head of what's going on. Underrated album.
I'm not sure why but watching you go through random CD's and DVD's is actually fascinating!
bond (about 5:50 in) is a 4 piece British/Australian female string quartet, they do classic and synth music a bit like Vanessa Mae does sometimes. They use "bond" lower case to avoid any issues with Bond film music
I hope you and the other 7 fans enjoy them x
He tossed The Doors and kept Shakira. Really?
Dark times indeed :(
"Damage Ghetto Romance... fair enough." *tosses CD* LMFAOOOO that killed me 😂
the divine comedy - you have excellent taste, I'm seeing them on friday!
The Divine Comedy are great- I saw them at the Brixton Academy in 1999. Thank god Ashens likes them!
In Birmingham by any chance 😂😂 I was there too!
Eleanor Chadd indeed it was - in that case, I shall salute your taste also!
Phillip James They really are an awesome band, I love absent friends!
I like to watch videos like this because it can satiate my gambling addiction without having to pay for loot boxes.
17:45 The moment we came for
Seeing the FRED disk in your thumbnail, old as this video is, reminds me I've watched this channel for over 10 years now, and it holds up better than most i've watched (or stopped watching since.). I guess your comedy and joking about random tat just doesn't ever get old lol.
Not many channels can get me to watch a 30min+ UA-cam video but Ashens is definitely one of them.
Bond are a four piece who play violin.
Electro string quartet, with Haylie - first violin, Eos - second violin, Tania - viola, Gay Yee - cello.
A much better value box than the first one. :)
Can't believe you tossed The smith's CD
Easy they're horrible.
Hannah Ruble it wasn't the smiths, he was taking the piss
Serpico's Beard While I am a huge Smiths fan, I see where the absolute haters are coming from. I get it, Morrissey whines.
Ian Scotto Rosano Understandable but Johnny Marr's guitar playing is too good to miss out on
Serpico's Beard DON'T TALK TRASH ABOUT MORRISSEY AND JOHNNY MARR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seeing that The Streets one bought back many memories of being 14 and my dad introducing me to them and just hearing it on repeat...I now listen to them non stop
Frank Sinatra is the name you were looking for.
The fact he didn't get that really bothered me.
This gave me the idea of giving Fred the Movie to someone for Christmas.
When did Geroge Clooney stroke Brad Pitt? Now that is a thing stuck in my head.
Well, with all of the need from Hollywood lately....
The fact that you liked stardust makes me respect you highly good sir.
Oh hell yeah, I was happy to see he didn't chuck it.
Dragoseye Stardust is quite good, and I have it on DVD.
I’ve still got a few somewhere.
that was fun. we had fun today.
We need follow up video(s) for these mega boxes where Stu finds out what all the mystery discs are and has the inevitable paroxysm over how much of a waste of time it was :D
FWIW, the "R" I think is Republica, and the "M" is Maroon 5. No idea what the J was.
The CD with the "g" on it stands for, Garth Brooks.
...or a follow up when it turns out some of those sampler music CDs turn out the be super rare and sought-after (and thus eminently resealable for a profit) and he binned them?
12:11 That disc has been written over. I just did some research.
These are perfect to watch while I'm washing dishes or cooking because I can listen but don't need to look. I have enjoyed them greatly
I looked up the Sophie ellis-bextor CD there's nothing written on it. So your copy has something secret.
*LEFTFIELD!*
Totally forgot about them 😱 I'm off listening to "Dusted", "Afrika Shox" and "Phat Planet".
WHY DID YOU THROW AWAY THE DOORS WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU (keeps Alien versus Predator though)
He was only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.
Thank God I'm not the only one upset buy that!
It's a CD...they should all be thrown away.
...onto the pile of shitty vinyl records.
Pook365 Well aren’t you just a ray of sunshine.
TheAmishGamer they joined the self preservation society
Strange when the British and Irish film classification boards disagree.
Like, you could watch Apocalypto after school in Ireland but would have had to wait three extra years and leave home to see it in the UK.
Alastair Ward usually it's the other way round, the Irish rating is higher.
From what I've read, the BBFC are generally more strict on violence and the IFCO are generally more strict on sexual content
I love his reaction to the Fred DVD XD
