THANK YOU!!!

In this video, we revisit an old tier list and rank each modern series of Doctor Who, including the newest addition. It's been three years since the last ranking, and we now have one more series to consider. As always, this is just my opinion, and I invite you to share your own thoughts and rankings in the comments or on Twitter at @crispyPro.
We start with Series One, which I consider to be an incredibly consistent and beautiful production. With standout episodes like "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances," Christopher Eccleston's Doctor and Billy Piper's Rose make this series special. I place it in the top tier (S), as it deserves the celebration.
Moving on to Series Two, while David Tennant's Doctor was fantastic, I felt that some episodes, like "New Earth," didn't live up to expectations. However, episodes like "Tooth and Claw" were fun and memorable. Overall, it doesn't reach the same consistency as Series One, so I place it in the B tier for now.
Series Three is one of my favorites, mainly due to Martha Jones' fantastic portrayal as a companion. The three-part finale with the Master and standout episodes like "Blink" make this series a joy to watch. Although it doesn't surpass Series One in consistency, it comes close, and I place it in the A tier.
Series Four brings back Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, and her dynamic with the Doctor is brilliant. The Noble family dynamics and the epic two-part finale make this series a standout. It is as consistently good as Series One, so it deserves a spot in the S tier.
With the arrival of Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Series Five feels like a fairy tale. The series arc, including the crack in the wall, is expertly executed, and the performances of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan shine. It deserves its place in the S tier.
Series Six, the first series the viewer watched live, brings excitement and intrigue. The two-part opener and the exploration of River Song's storyline make it captivating, although some episodes aren't as strong. I place it in the B tier due to its inconsistencies.
Series Seven faced criticism, but I believe it had some cool episodes, including "Asylum of the Daleks." The second half introduced Clara and brought some fresh elements, although it wasn't as consistent as previous series. I place it in the B tier.
Peter Capaldi's Series Eight showcases his alien portrayal of the Doctor, and Clara's development shines. The series has some brilliant moments, including the two-part finale, which elevate it to the A tier.
Series Nine stands out with episodes like "Heaven Sent" and a strong two-part finale. However, some episodes didn't reach the same level. Overall, it doesn't surpass Series One in consistency, so I place it in the A tier.
Series Ten introduces Bill Potts and delivers a consistent series, but it lacks the highs of previous series. It lands in the B tier.
Series Eleven faced criticism for its lack of interconnected stories and character development. While refreshing, it didn't reach the same heights as previous series, so I place it in the C tier.
Series Twelve brought back a series arc and delivered exciting episodes, but it didn't hold up as strongly on rewatches. It finds its place in the C tier.
Doctor Who Flux, the pandemic-born series, takes risks and offers a refreshing experience. While not without flaws, I enjoyed it immensely and rank it as Jodie Whittaker's best series, placing it in the A tier.
Please take a screenshot of your tier list and share it with me on Twitter. I'm excited to see your rankings and have some interesting discussions. Don't forget to like and subscribe, and I'll see you soon!

Ain't no way you think Jodie's first series is on the same level as Tennant's first series man c'mon 😭
S11 is pretty good
It's a warcrime
S11 isn’t that bad AND he put it at the bottom of B tier stop complaining mate
@@TrainedArcTrooperit isn't bad. It's horrendous.
@@themanwithaplan1460 you sire are correct
Flux was definitely 13s best series but they screwed up bringing in Tecteun and then killing her off without answering any questions, they bring in the person who found the timeless child and then kill her off.
Killing off swarm and azure was a bit of a waste as well, they would’ve been such good villains to return since they also knew about the doctors past which she doesn’t remember.
And then there’s no explanation of all the planets the flux destroyed, the doctor just does nothing lol.
All in all I’m convinced Chibnall just didn’t want to explain anything he set in motion.
I wouldn’t be surprised, didn’t Ruth say the Doctor’s origins didn’t matter, even though I’m pretty sure learning about that would be a major thing
They want to keep the Doctor's past a mystery. It will most likely come into play in the future but I liked the death of Tecteun. It made it more tragic for 13 as she didn't get any of the answers she wanted.
I know it was made during the Pandemic, but they totally should have done a 13a/13b. If the released the first 4 episodes, took a break, and really fleshed out the ending, I feel like it could have been an all time great season.
I used to say that best part of flux was Dan. And the worst part of flux was not using Dan
Damn thats good
I found myself nodding along in agreement to 90% of this video. The 10% (where I didn't nod) was because I:
- have a soft spot for Series 2, and would have rated it an A.
- liked Series 11 and 12, but would have swapped them around (Series 11 = D and Series 12 = C).
- really struggled to get into Flux (apart from maybe the Sontaran and Weeping Angel episodes). It's definitely a D for me.
Yes, another series 8 enjoyer! I was one of many people ready to drop the show after Matt Smith, but for the opposite reason than the majority. I never really enjoyed Amy Pond and her presence really brought down the Matt Smith era for me. Series 7B was not enough to rescue it. So I decided that if the show continued being like series 6 and 7 with Capaldi, that I was out. "Listen" and "Time Heist" were the episodes that really cemented me as a Capaldi fan, but it was the stupid joke where Strax beans Clara with a newspaper in "Deep Breath" that made me give the show another chance. It was the first time in a while that I had laughed at a joke the show made.
Even though series 8 has In the Forest of the Shite (and Kill the Moon), it has many episodes that I enjoyed much more than most of series 6 and 7. I can forgive terrible episodes, because at least I can marvel at how terrible they are and skip over them. What really sours a series for me is mediocrity.
what category does the 50th land in? 7.2? sure that could have given it a better score
I love series 3 too
Every series in the Chibnall era goes in the F tier
Did this mf just put S2 in B!?
I started watching Doctor Who in November 1963. I love Classic Who. The only series of the show that I didn't care for much was the Sixth Doctor's era, but that was probably due to the way those episodes were written. My favorite series of all time was Series 11. I adore Matt Smith's Doctor, the old soul in a young body. I love Series 13.
Why would you say Series 11 is your favourite compared to many of the others in either the classic or modern era?
Bruh what??? Sixth Doctor may not be the best Doctor but his era is SO GOOOOD. He has one of the best Cyberman and Dalek stories + Vengeance on Varos and hey Trial of a Timelord may not be perfect but it's super unique in the show's lore. Can't stand Sixy slander.
For me, Matt will always be my favourite Doctor, but Capaldi was the best actor to ever portray him in my opinion, and that means even though his series were very up and down, they're all excellent if for no other reason than his acting 🙌
@triplejazzmusicisall1883 same for me. Capaldi's doctor had so many layers to him, watching him evolve from sort of heartless to arguably the most caring doctor of all was just beautiful writing!
For me, Tennant was excellent. The thing that drags his series down for me is the constant love stories. He's thousands of years old and an alien, Rose was like 19, it was so bizarre, but I guess they had to pander to the shippers back then
Capaldi's second season was brilliant. When the worst episode of the series is "Sleep No More," which is at least experimental and different, and everything else is 8/10 or better with multiple all-timers, that's one stonkingly good season of TV. I'm way more fond of The Woman Who Lived than the average DW fan. I see its flaws plain as day, but not a single one of them bothers me, and I fucking love it.
For me my favourite series is series 5 I started watching in series 4 but when Matt smith became the doctor that’s when I started watching it religiously for me I don’t think there is not one bad episode for me and the dynamic between 11 and Amy is great and the crack storyline is amazing

Also love the podcast I never miss an episode
What series do you think is the scariest/darkest? On a recent rewatch i realised how dark seeies 6 was. Especially night terrors with those dolls. 💀👻
Ye, I was about to say season 6 was incredibly dark. However, every season had its dark moments, like The empty child two-parter in season 1.
Night terrors was terrifying as a kid! Same with impossible astronaut and gas mask zombies!
Im gonna say Series 10, It had the most scariest and darkest episodes

Series 10 appreciation!! Your top 3 is on point, id put s3 a bit higher because i absolutely love martha and shes incredible
Series 9 also has the Zygon Inversion which I think makes it deserve a higher tier. Capaldi really came into his own in that series. I consider it the last great series before the 60th.

Hard to take seriously anyone who ranks Jodie/Chibnal anywhere near series 1-10. The gulf between those eras in everything,; writing quality, production values, editing, performances, characterisations, it's all such a sharp and obvious decline. All the worse with hindsight and being able to see now each showrunners time in full.
That's why I thought things would change when Russel came back, but the dude is too high on the fumes from sniffing his on farts to care about the integrity of the show.
I find RTD writing a little overrated, the first series probably should be in A tier not S. But the rest of the ratings seemsfair. SM ratings on series are probably fair as well but I think that series 7 should probably be higher if we are including the 50th and Matt's send off, so that would be in A for me. However if we are doing that then are we counting the 4 specials that ended 10th Doctor era as a coda to series 4 or their own series? Same with the current 4 specials (would you count them as their own series)? I would count them as their own series, but the 50th and Christmas specials are usually appendages to their nearest prior series in my opinion.
CC era, I didn't watch as I never liked his writing. Some scenes I have watched seem great, so will get round to watching them in the end, I cant say whether the rankings are fair or not yet.
My ranking tends to go 4, 1, 3, 2, 9, 10, 5, 8, 11, 7, 6, 12, 13, *however...*
There are some really stand out episodes across all seasons. Heaven Sent in Series 9 is a contender for best episode in the whole show, and I loved Sasha Dawan as The Master in Series' 12 and 13. I watched Rose live when it was broadcast aged 5, so I have a lot of nostalgia for the early years of the revival. It wont surprise you that RTD, Tennant, Donna, Wilf and the GOAT Murray Gold returning is pretty much Christmas for me, and I can't wait to see what Ncuti brings to the role next year.
@@Ark-oi3qy I do actually prefer Matt Smith's acting further along in his run - I just don't think the episodes and overall story stack up as well.
SERIES 9 MY BELOVEDDDDDDDD
S: 1, 4, 5, 10
A: 2, 3, 6, 7b, 8
B: 7a, 9
C: 11, 12, 13
They're all great, that's why there's no D tier for me
Never apologise for being an optimistic guy! That’s why we love you dude
Jodie Whitaker was way too light hearted after everything that happened maybe a good early doctor but no 13 truly an L run
“vincent and the doctor” si soo good that we dont even need to explain why that episode is an absolute banger
For some reason, I don't remember anything of Peter Capaldi's era. I watched them when it was coming out, if you show me imagines I can recognize it but.... I don't know, its like the stories lacked something in them, something that made them truly memorable. For me, S tier are series 1 and 4 (including the specials between series 4 &5). I also enjoyed a lot Jodie's series, I need to rewatch them, but I agree with you, Flux is A!
Series 1,3 and 4 solid S teir
I cannot understand the love people have with the first season, i really don´t
I get that it's your opinion but also at some point once they get too extreme i don't think opinions can be objective anymore and putting Flux over season 6 is one of those times
For Me In No Order In Particular
S: 4, 10
A+: 3, 8
A: 1, 5, 6, 9
B: 2, 7
C: 12, 13
D: 11
I realised i never got the 13th doctor specials steelbook so i got it on ebay and watched power of the doctor and i had the best time. Probably the best episode of doctor who and the thirteenth doctor is just so funny to me. So ive since started a rewatch and im 3 eps in and absolutely loving series 11. Even the characters which before i thought were lacking like everyone says im really enjoying. Its a lot more getting the character from the performance instead of loading up on family drama, which it does enough of and then cracks on. Mandip, Toisin and Bradley are all brilliant and when im watching it without scrutinising it so hard and comparing it to all doctor who and squeezing my stupid brain then of course im going to just engage with whats actually there and whats there is great. The music, which before i thought was dull, im loving. It adds a great atmosphere and intensity and really heightens the emotional scenes. Ep 2, the one i thought was super boring is just great writing for actors. It really stays with those supports and you get to know them as people and its very very not what the other series have done but its new (or was) and great.
Series 11 is under rated and indeed is all of 13s run. Mandip and Jodie are such a great pair
I've always thought that Jodie's first season was her absolute best.... In fact, it's her only good series, with only a couple episodes from her second and third (mostly her second) being good.
What the hell man, I thought we were friends 😢
Flux is on the same tier as series 3... :I
my order is 9, 4, 5, 1, 3, 2, 10, 7, 11 -- haven't watched 12, 13
It's hard take seriously when farting fat suit aliens are S tier.
Shouldn't the 10th doctors specials be included? I guess they are still part of season 4 which is already S tier without them.
Next time you need to include all 26 Classic Era with the 13 Modern Era Seasons.
That's alot to ask as loads can't be watched.

Imagine putting season 7 as a b tier season 🤣😂 Matt Smith was the best doctor with best companion in Jenna Coleman with by far the best ever specials we've ever had and will ever have.... Literally S all day long.
Then having season 2 lower than season 3 🤮🤮🤮 nah
Also season 10 was garbage but not as bad as 12-13 so C tier for sure

For me it goes 4, 3, 5, 1, 6, 2, 10, 9, 13, 11, 8, 12, 7. All seasons have their merits for me but they ain’t created equal.
*does the S Rank little dance*
I wish in season 4. Ten was gonna pick up Donna with the tardis as quick as he could and wilf was there just like the ponds and Brian and then wilf gets picked up inside the tardis and ten doesn’t notice I would of loved that
How ro be famous by the book chapter 1 take a well accepted point of view like "jodie's doctor is the worst" and say you differe on that ... And that's enough to make you brillant. If you are asked why? You say it's a woman so it's obvious she is great ! Dah! And that's it ... Since the vast majority will come to arg against your self proclaimed top I have it right and you all get it wrong morrons.
Watched doctor who since I was five scared the poop out of me and watched it up to Jodie Whitaker I gave her a chance of about ten episodes and said I don’t think this feels right.
Anyway love doctor who to bits and am looking forward to the future and seeing if it gets better.
Peter Capaldi is probs my favourite. I’m rewatching it all now and maybe I will give Jodie another chance I just felt she was a bit stale and stating things in an anoying manner also far too many side characters that where unnecessary.
i was fully prepared to get angry as hell watching this but this tier list ended up being unbelievably based. agreed with pretty much every single take
except series 8. fk series 8 all my homies hate series 8 worst season of all time.
Series 1 Doctor A David tenant S, Matt Smith S l, Peter Capaldi D+, Jodie Walker C
Ah yes. It's friday night. To unwind i've had a glass of wine, I'm eating cheesecake, and sitting down to a crispy pro video. Life is good.
10 is S for me
Am I the only one who thinks series 7 was the best with Matt smith 😅.. I feel we had a lot of good stories and tbh I really enjoyed the dynamic between Clara and the Doctor
I personally think vincent and the doctor is a bit overrated. The final scene is beautiful but the rest of the episode is just ok for me
Series 11 is a generous C for me, and all Capaldi’s series’ are at least an A. Anything with Capaldi and Coleman is god tier.
I mostly agree? I think I'd go:
S Tier: Series 4, Series 3, Series 9, and probably Series 5
A Tier: Series 1, Series 10, Series 8
B Tier: Series 2, Series 13, Series 6
C Tier: Series 7, Series 12
D Tier: Series 11
Tiers C and D are the only ones I find it more difficult to rewatch.
Eccleston got me into Doctor Who… I hope he comes back one day… I still have faith…
I can’t lie Jodie Whittaker I hated 1st series and I watched 2nd if I was bored and series 3 I wanted it to be finish for the next doctor
Crispy: *Puts Flux in A tier, over series freaking 10*
Me: "Pain........pain......pain.....pain...."
Tom Baker was the best Doctor. It has now become a woke bandwagon with a poor storyline.
I'm really bad at separating the rest but I'm certain that 10 is my favourite cos come on look at Capaldi's hair how can it not be
CrispyPro has been sponsored by a therapy place because he needs therapy:-\
Also series 12 is seen aa the worst series often due to timeless child.
with the new sonic reveal you should do a sonic tier list (even if you haven't seen the classic stories, purely just based on looks)
Ooooh thats a good idea haha!
Season 9 is the worst, wayy too depressing and woke. A C.
Definitely agree with everything you said about Eccleston, Tennant, Martha and Donna
4, 3, 1 and 2, everything else, chibnal era.
Could be worse my first episode was love and monsters 🙃🫥
Series 10 s tier
Idk how series 7 is above 9 and 10 but ok
Go to 7 minutes and 50 seconds and remember a good man goes to war.
Love Flux!!
I feel that Rose was a better companion with 9 than 10. I just think they tried to hard to push the romance story line and it destroyed season 2. The only episodes I really enjoyed were Doomsday, School Reunion, and The Girl In The Fire Place.
I agree which is why I prefer Martha and Donna over Rose when ranking my favourite 10 companions. It could have worked if they built it more gradually over time like Rose getting used to the new doctor struggling to fall for him like she did with 9, but the fact it was so forced and quickly happened ruined it.
@@goat_sama8239Totally agree. I was almost relieved when Rose and 10 was over, cause it felt so weird and forced compared to 9 and Rose. I mean her just accepting hes like a whole different person rn and just going on just doesnt feel natural. And 9 and Rose was just more than awesome. Rose as 9s Companion is maybe my fav one of all of them, but with 10 never
@@kyuubeychan for me 10s best companion is Donna only cause it was only companion that wasn’t written to be forcefully in love with the doctor. Martha could’ve been special especially with the way she had some the best episodes out 10s companions but her being hung up on the doctor and rose ruined what could’ve been tenants era best companion
nonsense
and you like grooming obviously
C is generous for season 7, not harsh lmao.
omg capaldi deserved so much more what??
BRO THE 10Th. DOCTORS NOT A STRANGE MAN 16:32
I've literally just finished rewatching modern Doctor Who, in time for November, and I rated the episodes as I went and hence ranked each series - and then came across this video! Good timing. Great video btw, and I largely agree! Here's how I would rank them:
Series 5 - 9.5/10
Series 4 - 9.5/10
You are entitled to your own opinion and can personally enjoy other series more. However, if series 4 and 5 aren't ‘critically’ your top 2 in either order - you are simply mistaken.
Series 1 - 9/10
Series 3 - 9/10
Series 6 - 8.5/10
Series 7 - 8.5/10
Series 2 - 8.5/10
Series 9 - 8.5/10
Series 10 - 8/10
Series 8 - 8/10
The 3 series of Chibnall's era are CLEARLY the worst ones, it’s not even close. If you enjoy them, great :). There’s some enjoyment to have. Just know that if they aren’t ‘critically’ your bottom 3, you are mistaken and it should be obvious. None of these series are terrible (overall), and there are definitely some highlights. But those highlights would be the weakest episodes in any other series of Doctor Who - or even The Sarah Jane Adventures. Overall, like children dressing up, it is an amateurish imitation of what it’s trying to copy - with poor dialogue, low production value, uninteresting characters with little depth, fan-service of the bad kind, and lots of wasted potential. Each series has great ideas but not executed well nor thought out properly. Chibnall goes out of his way to FORCE his mark on the show (not EARN it) with the whole Timeless Child nonsense. I would rank the series as follows:
Series 13 - 6/10
Series 12 - 5.5/10
Series 11 - 5/10
you must be some sort of clone becuase you match me almost perfectly to how i rate them. i could never understand how someone could watch series 11, 12, and 13 and put them any higher than previous series cos even on a surface level i feel its obvious how much more care went into series 1-10. plus chibnall deffo used the timeless child so he could stand out rather than create amazing stories
What a reasonable take. "You can have your opinion, but if it's different to mine then just know you are wrong". Jeez some people are insufferable.
Glad to see Heaven Sent love. My favorite episode
This is a cursed tier list he put jodie above
David and matt
True I would put series 7 , 8 and 2 higher up the tier list
That's what I am saying
Am I the odd one out? 😅 I've always hated series 10, I literally fell asleep during the monk arc lol I do enjoy Bill Potts as a character, I think her and the Doctor's dynamic work great, she's not my favorite companion but a good one nonetheless. But my issue with series 10 is just the episodes. Most of them were just bad and you could tell Moffat had his hands full writing Sherlock while making series 10 at the time
plus i believe series 10 he was looking after his mum or loved one so was not properly invested
@@SergeantAveryJohnson that's true
how could you not include the 09 specials
He was reviewing Series. And the 2009 specials are not considered to be a part of any series. Both Wikipedia and TheTVDB list them separately. Not even the BBC lists them as being a part of Series 4 or Series 5, but puts them in-between the two series.
So for a review of actual series, the specials wouldn't have made the cut since according to even the BBC they weren't a part of ANY series of Doctor Who.

Poor Jodie, she was great as the Doctor, if only Chibnall wasn't a hack writer. He had some fantastic ideas, but lacked the skill to develop them properly. If he hadn't written so much of the era, it could have been so good. He should have given the kernel of an idea and co-wrote with someone more skilled, and we could have had one of the greatest eras of all time. Instead, he tried to write too much himself and didn't have the skill to back it up.
Your not the only one who loves Flux
Ive seen some of Capaldi's final series being the first 2 episodes and the last 2 + the Christmas special, maybe I'm missing out but Bill Potts annoyed the hell out of me. I came back cause John Simm was announced to be coming back as the master so I was like okay I've gotta see this now. Jodie Whittaker's era it's not the worst of all, flux in my opinion was the best but I love John Bishop, yes we love an overarching storyline but.... It was the timeless child... For that payoff alone put it in D
