You're really digging for these cons, not that it is bad, but these don't really bother me, but it is good to know for those looking. The only thing I've thought about is NFC which I don't use yet. 1,The volume buttons don't adjust the volume as you would expect no matter what they try to tell you in the manual. They take you to a menu where you have to deal with the touch screen. It's BS. 2, You would have to be a Bat to hear the shutter sound. Just a couple things to get used to on the first day FYI to others looking to get this phone. 3, Ending a call is also a learning experience. LOL.
Probably the only negative I have with this phone is the washed out colors and the hard to read text, other than that it's a pretty solid phone for the price. But I have to get very close to the device in order to read even the slightest text, it doesn't have bold font or nothing. Downloading it from playstore doesn't work either
After a couple of months using the phone. I wish the google assistant works better. For handsfree use while driving. Im still in a car without android auto.
I had an issue with WiFi on this model, it would keep disconnecting from wifi about every 1 to 3 minutes. Extremely frustrating, I did all the obligatory troubleshooting and tried some workarounds suggested on the Lenovo user forums but nothing worked. It seems like this was also an issue for many with the Moto G6 and later models. I'm just curious to see if this issue continues to pop up for others, I returned the phone because it looked like the issue on past models never got definitively fixed.
So I am thinking of getting this phone but my old Samsung Galaxy S5 has a microstorage in it - I've look around and no one else has said whether this phone takes storage ssd's anymore or is this something I need to back up and then transfer to the phone once I get it. Freedom here in Canada is offering the phone free with a plan for 35.00 a month
How are speakers on this? Is it loud enough say you're in a car driving can you hear other person clearly on speakerphone? AND if on speakerphone can other end hear you fine? Thanks to anyone in advancE!~
It's a big upgrade over the G5 plus, but I still use the G5 plus for a basic work camera. It is really bright for basic photos but not very high resolution which the Moto G Power has!
Is there a back button on this phone? I'm asking because I saw where another phone I was interested in does not have a back button. You actually have to close the app and start over just to go back to the page or site you want.
does anyone know why the dual speakers work for music but not speakerphone? i can only hear the bottom speaker during calls. i bought the phone so i could hear better during phone calls - vs my g7 power with one speaker.
I would like to know how to keep the screen on the UA-cam video from being moved or paused or anything else. There is a lock feature on it that I would like to know how to put on I remember how to unlock it I just can't remember how to lock it
@@Deathbatman He was referring to specs like battery life. No apple phone beats this battery life. Apple also has no micro sd card expansion, expensive repairs, and cheap glass on the cameras that can be scratched with metal (gorilla glass can't). Obviously a flagship phone will have better gaming performance and cameras but this is a really good buy for the price.
@@danielgriffith8911 Well.... define "get Gorilla glass"..... because if you mean something along the lines of "start using it on the iphone" then you might be surprised that iphones been using GG (Gorilla Glass) for a long time... As in, the very first iphone has gorilla glass on it (and that was with GG1 (First gen glass) and as far as im aware, has always been using gorilla glass even with the latest iPhone. Now, I cant say that the GG we get on android is the same as what used on the iPhone (as apple love to request or design slight tweaks to existing stuff and never disclose that difference) but they been using it... Although If i had to guess, Apple probably using some variant of GG3 for its better scratch resistance. Which is a trade-off for impact resistance that you find on the newer gorilla glass like GG4, 5 or 6. (Basically, Apple trying to keep the glass/screen looking fancy, free of scratches which makes the glass more brittle, easier to crack.). "Warning, tangent": Based on my "limited" experience between Glass 3 and the newer stuff: My LeEco Le S3 phone with Gorilla Glass 3 was scratch free for the 3 years when i was using it while my brother ZTE Axon 7 with gorilla glass 4 had lots of micro-scratches over the same time period. No screen protector for either phone. It annoyed the hell out of him with those scratches. Sadly however there's drop test experience between these phones.. My bother phone, dropped about 3 to 4 times before he broke his screen (bit of a clumsy fool that wont put a decent phone case on). My LeEco phone, it only took 1 drop to crack the screen... 3 years, only 1 single drop, done. (Sadly, my phone wasn't in a case at the time as the pre-included case for it was falling apart and I hadn't order a new case yet... It slipped out of my hand when getting it out of my pocket and that was the end of it). Never slipped out of my hands before that point but that may had something to do with the case always being there instead of bare glass and metal.... So very limited sample and it's with different phone manufactures, but I think i can see what apple trying to achieve base on my experience. At least the moto g power was out when my old phone broke so i had a fairly good upgrade option on the cheap. (Hell even Moto's "less than stellar" reputation for updates is a big improvement coming from a phone that had one single security update then nothing else. Of course LeEco went bankrupt so there's a reason for that...)
I'm thinking of buying this phone, Is it VolTE capable? since my carrier is requiring VolTE I need find out if the phone is compatible before buying it .

Anyone else purchase this phone and the speakers sound blown out when playing music? Also, when using the Bluetooth it cuts in and out and makes whatever speaker I've got it hooked to sound blown out as well..did I get a dud??
Kevin, whats your experience with the speakerphone in the G Power 2020? Client of mine as the 2020 Stylus and their speakerphone sounds terrible. Very crackly. They also say peoples voices are crackly on their end as well. I did some poking around on Reddit and apparently the G Power also seems to suffer from this. So far the only partial solution people have is to lower the volume and it does help on the Moto users end but still the speakerphone mic sounds crackly to those they are talking to. Also there have been complaints that the G Power earpiece volume is too low, even at max volume when in a call.
I've got a couple of phones of in-display fingerprint sensor (including my daily driver, the Galaxy S10+), but I much rather have a (usually much more responsive) back sensor.
I can't get my G8 Power to cast to TV. I have a Netgear PVT3000, and when I try to cast it says "available", then "connected", but switches back to "available" and never connects, never casts to TV. Worked fine on my Axon ZTE. Any idea why my G8 Power won't cast to TV?
@@lorikneip5128 No. I found that the G8 doesn't support Miracast. It may be possible to enable Miracast but requires rooting the phone and altering build.prop, and I'm no techie, I'd screw it up and break it. Thinking of seeing if someone at a repair shop could do it for me. Rooting the phone also voids the warranty though. Sucks that Motorola built in this stupid limitation.
Is it possible to black the top of the screen like with the G7? I'm quite happily willing to sacrifice that bit of screen space to not have to see the punch hole camera on whatever I'm looking at.
I loved this phone. It was out on the market for about 6 months when I got it. But all of s sudden it started lagging. I put a 64gb SD card in it when I bought it. I was told it had wireless charging, it doesn't. I was told I could move apps to the SD card, but I can't. I've uninstalled a lot of apps just in case it was memory issues. Buts it's not. I can't get a Moto agent live and my phone's service agents are all basic call center, same B.S. every time I call. But overall this phone us very nice! I'm still trying to find out why keyboard lags and it continuously buffers when I load anything. I wish it would snap out of what's causing the problems.
Hey thanks Kevin for the review and I would like to add there is one issue with the new Moto g power that absolutely drives me crazy. My old phone is a Motorola g5 plus and granite for the time it was a great phone and it has aged quite well but it still had better audio quality and audio mixing than the new g power. And say for example you're in a phone call with somebody and your browsing Facebook, and you so happen to stumble across a video you want to watch.as with the old phone you can hear both audio inputs from the person you're talking to and the video in full clarity however with the new phone it garbles out both audio inputs and you have to increase the volume for one media input over the other in order to hear one or the other but you can't hear both. And finally the old Motorola g5 plus didn't really have a EQ mixer but the sound quality was still very superb and very sharp. You could hear all the highs, all the lows, and even the base with full clarity. As I wish the same could be said about the new g power and don't get me wrong the new phone works wonderfully but I do hope they have some sort of software update where it may fix some of the sound bugs that the new phone has. And on the final note maybe mix the sound quality a little bit better so that if you're using the loudspeaker option with the phone it doesn't give you feedback through the microphone. I do like the feature of having dual speakers for music but anytime you do go into loudspeaker mode to have a phone call or even video chat with somebody it immediately defers all the sound to the lower speaker that's right next to the microphone and if they could make an option to have it defer all the sound to the upper speaker that is really awesome. And once again thank you for the video.
I know right they said this phone had superior audio but it sounds worse playing music in my car than my old $80 LG phone did and the screen shattered after one month
@@lauradorsey9562 you might want to contact Motorola on that one because I did just that and they had me send my phone in all prepaid and everything and they said it was a rooted unit that was faulty on the motherboard so what they did is they took and replace some other board and sent the phone back out to me. but they failed to mention what it is they fixed on the invoice and I had to have them contact me to see how the fund was working and once they let me know what was going on exactly I started using the phone again.it does still have some of those issues with the audio quality however it is a lot more stable now that it has been fixed and it still does have some echoing but I think they could fix this with a software update on the phone.there is an ability in the settings to change it so that the audio comes out of the top speaker only but as soon as you go to set the phone into a speaker phone mode it immediately dumps all the sound back through the lower speaker which is literally only 4 mm away from the microphone which is not helpful at all
As of the latest update my Moto g power running Android 11 has the ability to control all audio channels separately now. It didn't initially feature this when I bought it
I actually don't need wireless charging with a battery that big. But all your cons seem like they would add cost the the device if they added them and make it more a mid-teir device rather than a buget one. I think what you get here for the money is pretty phenomenal.
@@KevinBreeze On the Moto G7, It does. It works most of the time but I don't care to use it. The fingerprint scanner on the back is great and works 100%.

Another reviewer found that in phone conversations with the phone in speaker mode, the person he was speaking with could not hear him. Can anyone verify this?
I would say another con is that there is no quick charger in the box. It comes with just a 10 watt charger. Kind of disappointing when the moto g7 power from 2019 came with a 15 watt turbo charger.
I had my Moto g power for a couple of weeks and I can't get over how good the camera is But the back did get a couple of scratches easy, now I have a case
It's great phone for the price for sure. One thing I don't like is that camera cutout. It's horrendous. Why can't it be in the center? Having everything offset is ridiculous.
Lenovo Moto has done a terrible job with on screen fingerprint sensor. I prefer it on the back. The Moto Z4 and the Edge Plus are examples of Levono Moto failing to fix the fingerprint on screen display. But no problems using the fingerprint scanner on the back. Also, on the plus side, I love the fact they have stereo speakers. One on the front and the other on the bottom.
With the exception of the discoloration, not being amoled and wireless (which is something you can do afterwards with the charging option despite being vastly inefficient compared to using wired charging) these "cons" are also the pros with it as you don't need all the hype features that everything apparently needs today. Function over hype is how I like it.
Dude don't get it I watched all of kevin breeze videos before deciding on a phone and now my screen shattered after one drop and I'm looking on reviews on the internet and turns out everyone's screen shattered after one month
Just go mine !! Thanks for the info ! My only critique is that being older and having vertigo your moving your hand a lot and it made me a little sea sick :p
I went from a motorola g7 play to a samsung a51 due to carrier change and I really dislike the in display fingerprint reader.the motorola readers on the back are light years ahead, not only are they more accurate but the recessed sensor is easy to find without looking at it. Just that is really pushing me to change phones.
Great Kevin, I will b back, loved your commentary about the Moto G 8 power, had mine 2 weeks now, desperate to learn all about this one. My previous one Moto G 3, I still have that and it is still great after 3 years, but it is Android 6
I wonder if a Qi wireless charging coil in the center of the back would have physically interfered with the battery, and they were already thicker than they wanted it to be. Also, the metal plates in the battery if close to the coil could have interfered with the charging function since eddy currents would simply generate heat and add to nonproductive load. Life's imponderables...
Is there a setting I'm missing to make the volume louder ? Most videos I have to cup my hand to hear it or use my earbuds .. anyone ?? And yes it's all the way up and no I'm not deaf
The thing that I was concerned about a little bit, is weight. Moto G Power weighs 7 Ounces, about 200 Grams. I think this is a little heavy. I don't know if it does really feel heavy after several hours of use. Hopefully a current user could tell me. 🙏
I have the Moto g7, great battery, but it does some things I don't like. All these phones should have their own app to switch data to another or new phone
The glass is this phone's Achilles heel. But the phone rocks. My first bought my Moto g power and 6 days later after about a 3-ft drop the screen was shattered. After much trepidation I simply decided by another one so that I could root the first one lol I love the phone that much. But, on the second one I do things right and got the best case possible as well as a tempered glass screen protector which has already saved me twice. Many have said the same thing about the glass being weak with some people even saying drops of inches broke their glass. It is gorilla Glass 3 which is rather old these days and nowhere near as strong as what you get on the latest flagships. Regardless this phone is a great deal and has awesome features. I'm running Android 11 on mine already. The gestures at somebody else mentioned are second to none.
@@trestuges Thank you for the response 'Yul' much appreciated. I have bought this model. I found out that the glass was weak and I've taken as much care as possible....Thanks again
@Richard Blake I couldn't be happier. Great stereo sound. Big vivid screen. I bought the Otter protective case that fits like a glove. There's lots of modern software features making things go smoother. For example I can silence my phone completely when I go to bed, yet at the same time it will allow me to listen to a podcast. Best purchase of 2020. This was really the perfect phone to replace the Nexus 6 that I loved.

Just ordered it today. Can’t wait to see it in person.
trishdadish82 I love it. Been a great phone. Usually get 40 ish hours off of 1 charged battery

So my question is would you buy it again..? I mean shit im currently on a friggn LG stylo 4....(yea i said 4 lmao, nope not a typo) and im looking to get something other then LG since i keep having issues with the charging port on this thing...(i have ins on it) an had to get a replacement due to the battery NOT charging anymore...(it showed it was charging but wasnt) or it would say "slow charging" or some shit. So i was sent a exact replacmnt....two days in same thing happnd....3rd replacemnt ....lasted like 3 months and dud the same ...4th one and its doing it again (but atleast this one ACTUALLY charges..to FULL...so ive been limping by until i can get away from LG so this 5000Ma battery is VERY ENTICING for me (and its currently only 99.00 like 106.00 total )..lol srry for the long explanation..! Would you buy it again ?
@trishdadish82 did you end up getting it...an if so how do/did you like it..?
@@508_Phax Hell year. I would definitely recommend it and buy it again. It runs great and if I am easy on it I can get the claimed 3 days. Otherwise easy 2 days with the battery
Do you realize how much you move the phone around and how difficult that is for a new user who needs to see the features clearly while concentrating on what you are saying?
You're really digging for these cons, not that it is bad, but these don't really bother me, but it is good to know for those looking. The only thing I've thought about is NFC which I don't use yet. I can't wait for the full review because I may be getting this. I have a pixel 2 right now and the battery is awful.
Great job BTW I really like the format.
I got a google pixel 2 also. Dont even get me started on the battery lol.
@@samuelwhitney1018 I got the pixel 4a. I love it!
I feel like all except for the dark spots are a bit nitpicky. you still have a fingerprint sensor why complain because it's not in the screen?
Glad you speak like a normal human, not the million YT reviewers with pregnant pauses and downward inflections. It’s as if they all went to the same “how to speak on UA-cam” class. Excellent quick pro/con so kudos to you. Well done.
Has the wifi connectivity improved on this phone does anyone know??
The wireless on mine is flawless. We have a fast Network at the house and I've seen this thing pulled damn near close to 300 megabits download
@@trestuges Thank You!
Is the battery removable? And what is "NFC"?
Thanks for sharing this video. I'm checking around and considering to get it. Your review definitely helps a lot. Thanks again.
So would I buy this over the hyper or the stylus so I can get a longer android update span??? Trynna find something that’s gonna last with software..
How are speakers on this? Is it loud enough say you're in a car driving can you hear other person clearly on speakerphone? AND if on speakerphone can other end hear you fine? Thanks to anyone in advancE!~
Just bought myself one! Hopefully it will give me many great years of trouble free service like my Motorola G5 plus did!
I just bought one as well replacing my Moto g 5 plus!
Is the body metal or plastic?
It's a big upgrade over the G5 plus, but I still use the G5 plus for a basic work camera. It is really bright for basic photos but not very high resolution which the Moto G Power has!
Steven Paul hi just got a moto g8 I cannot turn on notification for incoming messages do you have the same issue
Is there a back button on this phone? I'm asking because I saw where another phone I was interested in does not have a back button. You actually have to close the app and start over just to go back to the page or site you want.
If you want to get the traditional back button, go to the settings and search “navigation”
Ok great! Thank you Kevin!
does anyone know why the dual speakers work for music but not speakerphone? i can only hear the bottom speaker during calls. i bought the phone so i could hear better during phone calls - vs my g7 power with one speaker.
I would like to know how to keep the screen on the UA-cam video from being moved or paused or anything else. There is a lock feature on it that I would like to know how to put on I remember how to unlock it I just can't remember how to lock it
How do I get the battery ring back on my home screen time and weather window
Even the budget phones can beat Apples phones with specs
did Apple ever get Gorilla glass? Or do you have a cracked screen as we speak?
But apples phone latest phone is a lot more powerful than budget phones. Overpriced, yes. Weak speaked, no.
"Warning, tangent":
Based on my "limited" experience between Glass 3 and the newer stuff: My LeEco Le S3 phone with Gorilla Glass 3 was scratch free for the 3 years when i was using it while my brother ZTE Axon 7 with gorilla glass 4 had lots of micro-scratches over the same time period.
@@warmon6 just basing it on the fact that nearly every iPhone screen I've seen is cracked...maybe ya all just clumsy.
at the end of the day battery and performance are what you’re going to wish you had, i just wish the screen was smaller
Can be a little difficult to use at the beginning but rather than having a screen too small.
I'm thinking of buying this phone, Is it VolTE capable? since my carrier is requiring VolTE I need find out if the phone is compatible before buying it .
What carrier do you have? I just ordered this phone off of Motorola's website and i check the list of phone carriers and it says that its compatible with cricket's VOLTE
@@jaimeramirez-perez7198 thank you for the reply. I did get the phone a while back, but it started having issues, so we returned it and went for a Samsung A series instead.
@@kazarian619 oh that sucks that your moto g power had issues, hopefully your Samsung A Series phone lasts longer without any issues
@@jaimeramirez-perez7198 Thank you. So far I’ve had this one for about 2 months and I think it’s an awesome phone. The battery life is not as good as the G power, but so far the overall performance makes up for it.
Anyone else purchase this phone and the speakers sound blown out when playing music? Also, when using the Bluetooth it cuts in and out and makes whatever speaker I've got it hooked to sound blown out as well..did I get a dud??
Do you have to use the fingerprint sensor?
Why is there not a contact icon on main screen ?! no contact icon !
I think you misunderstood me. CASES ONLY. Moto G8 POWER. Moto. GPower can you order the same case will it fit both of them or no
I've got a couple of phones of in-display fingerprint sensor (including my daily driver, the Galaxy S10+), but I much rather have a (usually much more responsive) back sensor.
Did you figure out the problem? I'm thinking about getting this phone, but this would be a deal breaker for me for sure.
You're really complaining about that face unlock, a feature you probably won't use. Lol
I've seen my friends use it on there iphones, it looks useful but I can use my pattern just as fast lol
Who needs that? It's just some trend hype thing and I'm surprised he didn't go on about there not being a glass back of the phone as well.
What kind of glass does this phone have? I heard it’s cheap and cracks easily (since it’s a budget phone). Is that true?
Mine was really good and has fallen several times, I have already cracked the protector but the og glass is still intact.
@@ethereal.raccoon Thank you.
It didn't initially feature this when I bought it
Think I'm going to get it! The cons are definitely very minor compared to the pros.
Finally for once my phone delivered the notification on time
Awesome!

Hi Kevin. Where do I get a SIM card for my unlocked Moto g power 2020 phone?
Thanks for all your videos! You do a get job, your voice reminds me of Mordecai too! Thanks homie!!
Great Video Man Like always Straight to the point....👍👍👍
I actually don't need wireless charging with a battery that big. But all your cons seem like they would add cost the the device if they added them and make it more a mid-teir device rather than a buget one. I think what you get here for the money is pretty phenomenal.
They do have face unlock on the Moto G phones. Go to Security & Location in the settings. It should say Screen lock, fingerprint, face unlock.
Mine doesn't have that option
@@KevinBreeze On the Moto G7, It does. It works most of the time but I don't care to use it. The fingerprint scanner on the back is great and works 100%.
Would love to hear a comparison between this and the TCL 10L, since they're at the same price point.
TCL is a serious contender for this phone. You have to decide if you like Motorola's unique stuff like gesture flashlight and camera mode.
Here is your comparison. TCL phones die right after their warranty on over 40% of their units.
I don't know about the dying part but the single firing bottom speaker is just inexcusable from TCL.

I like to get ready the green square on my cel please?
Kevin do u think the g power is better than stylus???
hey
Just got this, but i cant get wi-fi calling. Would u know what app or how to get it.
How to get alert notification ??
I would say another con is that there is no quick charger in the box. It comes with just a 10 watt charger. Kind of disappointing when the moto g7 power from 2019 came with a 15 watt turbo charger.
The black dot is annoying in the corner...wish I could get it off
Thanks for the video man. Just got one. Loved my Moto G7 Power. Keep up the good work.
How is screen protection? None of the reviews mention this!
I had my Moto g power for a couple of weeks and I can't get over how good the camera is
But the back did get a couple of scratches easy, now I have a case
Would I notice any difference between this G Power's 399 PPI screen and my current G7 Play's 294 PPI screen?
It's great phone for the price for sure. One thing I don't like is that camera cutout. It's horrendous. Why can't it be in the center? Having everything offset is ridiculous.
For how much years will it last
Lenovo Moto has done a terrible job with on screen fingerprint sensor.
I really want this phone my moto g4 plus has gotten horrible it glitches out and only lasts 3 hours
Can this shoot photospheres with the stock camera?
Im googling this phone and some say g8 power and some just say g power. Are they the same phone ? Or is one a lesser version ?
Should I buy this for 170 on Best Buy unlock???? Or there’s better phone out there?
I went from a motorola g7 play to a samsung a51 due to carrier change and I really dislike the in display fingerprint reader.the motorola readers on the back are light years ahead, not only are they more accurate but the recessed sensor is easy to find without looking at it. Just that is really pushing me to change phones.
What is NFC?
are you sure it does not have face unlock? my g7 power does have
Is there any difference with G8 POWER or regular G when it comes to a case
Yes! They have slightly different designs
I can't figure out how to set ring tones with this phone!
i got it for $179 i wanted the battery life. it seems on a wifi it will just 12 hours
the fade at the top replaces any other task bar and looks clean imo
Is there a setting I'm missing to make the volume louder ? Most videos I have to cup my hand to hear it or use my earbuds .. anyone ?? And yes it's all the way up and no I'm not deaf
The thing that I was concerned about a little bit, is weight. Moto G Power weighs 7 Ounces, about 200 Grams. I think this is a little heavy. I don't know if it does really feel heavy after several hours of use. Hopefully a current user could tell me. 🙏
Can you talk to Google when you're talking on this phone and look up stuff if so can you show me how
One thing i like about this phone is that it has like this samsung s10 plus style and the top left
S10 plus looks nothing like this phone, the hole punch for s10 is in top right, not top left lol
NO PUNCHES WILL BE HELP DURING THIS REVIEW. ANOTHER KNOCKOUT for Kevin. Telling it like it is! Love it bro, keep up to he great work.
I have the Moto g7, great battery, but it does some things I don't like. All these phones should have their own app to switch data to another or new phone
What about the glass? I can't seem to find anything on that
The glass is this phone's Achilles heel.
I found out that the glass was weak and I've taken as much care as possible....Thanks again
would COD mobile on the lowest settings be a problem? Thats the setting I'm used to playing on anyway
Thanks for doing this. I bought the Moto G Power. It replaced my 2014 Motorola Nexus 6. I would like to see a Moto G Power Tips & Tricks! please.
Does anyone know if this phone uses pwm for the display brightness?
The fact that there no gallery app really pisses me off
