First of all... Awesome job you two. Most people would use 5/8" drywall because cement board is heavy. But what you have done will last forever. And thanks Jim for watching Lydia like you do. When my wife was alive, she would never let on that she was not 100% and I would have to watch and say that we needed a break without telling her I was doing that for her. And thank you for caring for the birds. It is nice to see people that can hunt and fish for their food and still show compassion for animals.
Now, I think you will enjoy this. I went to the big orange box store for a paint roller to paint my shop. I knew where the rollers were, but wanted to give the new girl there a hard time. So I walked up and waited my turn and when she asked if she could help me, I told her I needed a concrete smoothing Hootis. Without skipping a beat, she said "Did you want a 3/8" or 1/2" smoothing hootis?" Okay that caught me totally off guard. She started laughing and said "I love watching Cajun Country Livin".
Hope you feel better Lydia. Jim will take care of you.
We are sorry to hear about your late wife. I bet you have some great stories to tell. 🤍Part of a marriage is knowing the other person. You can tell you cared a lot for her & I’ll bet she was the same to you. 🤍
We respect nature to the fullest. Nature gives to us and we give back to nature.
Oh my gosh, that’s the best thing ever! If you go back in there and see her, please tell her to email us! 😃 It’s something as someone as the word, “hootis” that can put a smile on someone’s face. Much love to you.
@@CajunCountryLivin ❤
Love it....
Wow nice😎
Lydia… I mean, Mrs. Captain Crocs 😂 you are unstoppable. There’s not many people I know that could do what you did… let alone while they’re sick! 😢 and all while looking absolutely beautiful. It’s honestly not fair! 😂
Anyway- ceiling is looking GREAT! Way to go friends! Can’t wait for the next one! 🎉
You would be right there with me putting in the work! You & Teddy both work so hard, especially on the little details that make all the difference.
Stop it. 🥹 you’re so sweet. You as well my dear friend 🤍
Those Barn Swallows help to keep the bugs down all summer long. Thanks for allowing them to stay.❤
Absolutely! We love having them around!
Exposed trusses are a great home for hornets, wasps, birds, etc. Unwanted guests especially when having a BBQ and eating outside. Plus, now you can place those LED lights everywhere.
Yes!! We are glad to be covering them up.
Ok Glad to see Mrs. CC decided to call a break.. Hope you feel better soon. That was some heavy work and it looks amazing 👏
Thank you so much!
Lydia, I hope you are feeling better, take care of yourself, for there is only one of you. House is looking good.
Thank you so much. ❤️
I sure hope you feel better soon. I found y'all about a month or so ago and I binged watched all episodes, now I have to wait for Sunday and Wednesdays to watch. Poor me!!! LOL I live here in Louisiana in a town called Krotz Springs known for cops giving tickets. We don't even have a red light, but Hwy. 190 runs through our small town. Y'all remind me of me and my husband we did every project together ourselves. They were not nearly as large as y'alls, but we were very proud. My husband of 54 years passed last August, and I am still so devastated, so watching y'all brings back so many wonderful memories. Thanks, guys, for the memories!!!!
I absolutely love comments like this Kitty! Oh yes ma’am, outside of Baton Rouge I believe. Any project deserves praise because all projects require work. We are proud to be a reminder of the work you and your husband have done. We are sorry for you lose, but hope to bring you comfort in this time. ❤️
@@CajunCountryLivin Yes about 40 miles west of Baton Rouge. We took our children fishing, crawfishing, freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, and frogging. No idle hands for our 3 kids. You are definitely raising yours right she will have a lifetime of memories. I missed her in this video, she is so stinking cute!!!
I finally finished every video you have posted here. I loved them all. I can't remember what I was watching when your videos were first recommended, but I'm sure glad they were. I love your relationship. I love your determination. I love your inquisitiveness. I love your attitude. Jim, you are truly a jack-of-all trades who loves his family immensely. The care you show towards Lydia and Ladley is heartwarming. Lydia, oh my gravy, you are a beast. Is there anything you won't tackle. THe videos of you working during nap time are some of my favorites. Not to be crude, but your video thumbnails are superb. Ladley, You are an adorable, fearless little girl. I hope you always appreciate what your parents have done for you.
If I had 1 request for a future video (or short) it would be an overview of your property. As I watch the videos I'm starting to connect the same points in each, which helps to give me an overall sense of the layout. Maybe it's time for the CCL 1000 Land Survey Drone Hootis. Keep the videos coming!
Ceiling looks great. Lydia, I hope you are feeling better very soon.
Thank you! 😊
You guys are truly amazing it's incredible how much work you guys get done.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for considering the babies.❤
Our pleasure!
I bought a Harbor Freight lift several years ago. Less than $150. Some of the best money ever spent. Constructed numerous DIY constructs over the years. My Dad helped me so much. We used T beams. He would be 99 now but passed away several years ago. Great man and great Dad. I always worked with 8 foot sheets. The lift was a lifesaver. I did sell it when done with my last build. I seem to find other projects. They keep me busy. Love your program.
Way to push through to get things done, but also good to take care of yourselves when you need to. The Cement Siding Ceiling is transformational to that poorch area. - cheers
Thank you Mikey!
It looks great. Nice and uniformed. Y'all are so thoughtful of the birdies! I hope they grow up fast. Thanks for the update!
It would not surprise me if they were already gone by now. They take no time at all!
Awesome! Also, it's a bit late but I wanted to suggest to Lydia in struggling with the sheets with her biceps to drop to a squat position, then use her leg power to lift the sheets onto the rack. Kind of like weight lifters do. She'd have to rotate her hands while doing it. Might be beneficial the next time. Still, y'all got er done!
Awe the kitties!
😁
Sending prayers! Feel better!
Thank you Wendy!
Jim I love that you know when Lydia isn't feeling well 🥰. I have been running a fever for a couple days and it zaps the power out of me.
Mrs CC, we gonna need you to relax and take it easy when not feeling well. I wrestle with physical proclivities now, because I pressed my way when I didn’t need to. We, Jimbo needs you healthy and strong. Havin said all of that, I applaud your fortitude. ☺️
Okay okay, if y’all see me less in the next it’s because of y’all. ❤️
Wow! Lydia you are such a trooper. Great job with that heavy cement board. Glad you didn’t get hurt. Now go cool off and watch the birdies
Yes! We are glad to get it done! Enjoying the view from the window!
That was a beast! I was half expecting the cavalry riding in to help out, but I get you guys want to DIY it.
Sheetrock lift = Calvary 💪💪💪
I am so sorry you are not feeling well and you went ahead and toughed it out with hubby. Awesome job you two and it's looking absolutely wonderful. Sending you prayers to a quick healing kiddo. God bless you ALL.
I worked with the single boards and they were heavy so i would hate to work with those I know those r heavy!! Lydia I hope you feel better and with this heat you got to take breaks!! But as always yall doing a awesome job!! Friends see yall Wednesday!!
I swear, I thought, “man, how far is Cedric away? He could for sure come replace me for the rest of this video and no one would know.. right?” It was touch and go there for a while!😁
@Cajun Country Livin' 🤣🤣🤣 I hear ya!! I sure would have, too, bc I only live about 2 hrs away!! But I hope you are feeling better!
Wow. That is a serious workout, Being on the 'not quite as tall as Jim OR Lydia side', I am 100% sure I could reach the lower lift hooks without a ramp, and a hoist, and some help. I took a break after just watching ya'll. bwahaha. and here I felt sore just from doing 3 small dry pour pads yesterday. Thanks for raising the bar 🤣🤣
I feel for you guys on the porch ceiling and completely understand the struggle! My husband and I are starting to build our home and forming up stuff has been HARD and time consuming but we will get there as I know you two will 😊 Feel better Lydia!
Love the ceiling. Hate we didn’t get to see your little manager. She is a cutie. I’m going to look into that watering system. Thank you. I was born in North Louisiana. Headed there next week.
Honestly, it’s fantastic. I am bad about forgetting to water the garden and tend to remember when I’m already in bed. It’s saved me multiple trips outside after a long hard day when all we want to do is lay down!!
Looks great from this end of the camera .. Mrs Lydia hope you feel better soon
Thank you!
That looked like such hard work! I was watching yall struggle and wishing you had another set of hands to help. But it looks amazing!
The porch ceiling is looking great and it's awesome you are waiting on the baby birds. Prayers for a quick recovery for Lydia. My allergies landed me in the ER two weeks ago it had turned to bronchitis.
So sorry! We hope you’re on the mend. Mine turned out to be the stomach flu. ROUGH!
@@CajunCountryLivin Thanks I'm doing fine now after several rounds of breathing treatments and steroids. Hope you are feeling better as well and no one else got it.
How cute! Barn Swallows are great to have around. Ceiling looks awesome
Absolutely! Thank you!
Looks absolutely amazing awesome job, take care and stay safe God bless
Thank you! You too!
WOW!! GREAT JOB Y'ALL. you sure are blessed to have such a great wife. Such a great partner. Y'all work so well together. Looking good. Y'all have a great week. 👍👍👍❤.
I sure am. ❤️
Looks good and yes that cement board weighs a lot especially over your head 🇺🇸👊🏼🔨🪚🇺🇸
Yes!!
Praying you feel better soon.
Thank you ma’am!
Mrs. Captain Crocs feel better soon great job all around
Thank you🤍
You two do beautiful work, for either Amature OR Professional. I love it! Art in Calif 🥰
This looks really nice! And, you're right, don't let yourselves get over heated and exhausted. Feel better, Lydia!
Feel better Lydia.
Thank you!
You guys are such good kind hearted people. I wish the world had more like you.
Moving up guys a great job 👏
Thank you!
Hope you feel better soon Missy 💕
Wow those looked heavy and hard to handle, but again you 2 did it. Feel better Lydia. ❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you Melissa! Stomach flu has got me down, but I think I’m on the mend!
Looks fantastic! Hope you get to feeling better soon, Mrs. CC! 😉😽🙏
Thank you! 🤗
That's looking awesome! You just needed a "Hootis" to help her get a little more height to get the "concrete siding ceiling" up on the hooks of the ceiling hanging hootis. 🤣😂 I do love watching the two of you work together. You make an incredible team. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
Yes!! It’s not very often Lydia needs help in the tall portion of life. We love to be with each other whether it’s working, relaxing or even going to the grocery store. We cherish the time we get together.
Well done guys, looks great. So you employed the 5 P's principle: Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance!! Looks awesome, and good on you for looking after the little birdies. Cheers.
Yes!! Love that! 😇
I have watched every one of their episodes. Thank you for sending your viewers to them. (The LiFe In Pines) you guys are great and funny. I love your sense of humor and how you do things in the Louisiana way. I moved from New Mexico to Louisiana two years ago. Everywhere we go the hospitality is off the charts. We're still trying to get used to the way it's done in Louisiana. Everybody ask why did we move to Louisiana. I always ask them why did you stay in Louisiana. We love it here in Louisiana. Thank you guys for entertaining us. I have watched every one of your videos from the beginning all the way to present.
Love watching you guys.Reminds of 30 years ago when my wife and i were doing our house.great times.
👍👍 Know all about the allergies, have a great week.
That's some really heavy board and a lot of work putting that up. It's a huge amount of trips up and down a ladder to nail it in place. Good work, y'all. I'd admire your drive. I'm not sure that I'd want to wrestle that heavy board overhead all day long but y'all have some really good ideas and I'm sure it'll come out good.
Get well soon Mrs. CC!
Thank you!
Хорошая работа👍
Thank you!
Another great project. Thanks!
I live in South Louisiana myself, and ya'll are doing a great job... Just remember, before you close it all up, run your electric for your lights, and fans... Also maybe some speaker wire so you can add some speakers for a little fais do-do....
Hope she gets to feeling better soon pouch ceiling is looking great . Keep up the good work !!!
❣️❣️❣️Enjoy your weekend😊
Thank you Tammy!!
Love the porch ceiling brother & sister. Just a question; did you guys consider a couple of ceiling fans for under the porch? Of course that's just me...😊
Coming here to say this. I regret not having power for ceiling fans, additional outlets or additional lights on my little porch.
Absolutely will!
I just love watching y’all!!! You work so well together.
Looks great good to see y'all
With the humidity it was a good choice.
Thanks!
Awesome job you two It looks great Y'all are so thoughtful of the birdies
Amazing work you two! 👏 So sweet of you to let those birdies stay! 🥰
L needed a 2x6 to step up on to reach the hook - LOL. Looks good. Hope it doesn’t get to hot inside and cook the birds. Thanks for sharing
That would be a great idea! The best is close to the opening so plenty of airflow to go through!
Thank you much Gerard!!❤️😁
Great Work!!! Y’all need porch “old attic” fan! Will be good for the shop too.
Yes!!!
Wow...kkk...cool...baby birds...We had the same moment in our varanda ...3 baby birds were the news...kkk...mom and dad put it all together and then mom was laying in it for a short time just before the babies popped and they grew up just fine, but we saw a our also nice large bird that loves eating the baby eggs and he was popping around and just patiently waiting for a chance for getting the eggs. My husband and I were taking care on not allowing it to happen. The babies were growing up and getting stronger until they could finally fly away...kkk... I still have their “bad” on the roof. We have so many different kinds of birds flying around here 😊we wake up with their “singing”.
That looks awesome. Thanks for looking after the little birdies.
You bet!!
What we thought we would see Jim flex his muscles 😅 Gus at the start was so cute 😅😊❤ You could have used seam joiners, we do here 😮 I think you have driven the nails too deep, I’m sure fibre board they are meant to be under driven? 😮 looks really good covered up finally ❤ Until the next CCL video ❤❤❤
Wow those bad boys look heavy and they are 12 footers anyhow nice job and hope Mrs. CC feels better later y’all.
I hop you feel better soon stay awesome possum
Thank you!
Man, does that look good. It is a lot of hard work, especially when you're not feeling 100%.
Allergies are not fun I dont suffer from any but my wife does in the spring and as she gets older it it takes its toll on her keep up the great work love your videos so much hope your feeling better soon Lydia and you are a good husband Jim
Just a word of advice based on experience my in laws live in Toledo bend and they painted their back patio ceiling like yawls, sky blue and they don't have any insects mainly spiders on it. The only thing we can think is , they think it's the sky. What ever it is they have no spiders webs.
That’s awesome! We will be doing that.
My Sunday just got better
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lydia lots of people up here in NC have had colds and bronchitis and strep throat,,get well soon girl
It ended up being the stomach flu. Even worse!
@@CajunCountryLivin get well soon ,,and hope no one else catches it.
Ohhh and it’s pouring rain here and we needed it 2:20 pm
Great job guys, I don’t envy the heat you face x
It’s not even July 🥵
Nothing's gonna stop the Hot Sheet Rock Momma ! lol
💪💪💪
Looks beautiful
Well if you can float like a butterfly go for it another job well done
Thank you!
I'm doing the same thing with my bird nest now... I waited for babies to leave, but before I could finish my screened in porch, they came back and laid more eggs... same birds as yours, a waiting game lol
Haha we know the feeling! We are going to take the nest down after babies are gone. They will lay in the same nest multiple times during their season.
@Cajun Country Livin' Neverending here in calcasieu, what parish are yall in? Not gonna visit, just curious cause yall have all the problems I have lol
It's really going to look good once you get it done. 👍
Thank you!
Looks great!
Thanks for sharing, I was worried that weight of the sheets would be a problem. Good job ☕🇨🇦
Jimbo, I would have screwed the panels, it is a far better fixation for hanging elements then nails. I know from experience that nails how good they are, tend to work them selfs out due to heat expencions.
Happy Thanksgivings Day!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!!
Look at you guys teaming up with the life in pine family! Past the dry cement to starting a new trend. I know you got plans in July!
Yes! We can’t wait!
Dang what ya'll do in a day or two would take this (oldazz) retired Electrical Engineer and his BSN (nurse) wife a week to (maybe) do all of that work.
BIG Hugz to you Two from us Two Middle Tennessee
As @mamich08 said, it looks good and will last forever. However, you both should count your blessings that the Harbor Freight sheetrock lift you were using (150 lb capacity) didn't come crashing down on you. I think you are going for a certain look or hoping it will last through a hurricane which is great but all you needed for the porch ceiling was 1/4" plywood. I suggest painting it sky blue and the birds won't nest up there either, they will think it is the sky. I have enjoyed following ya'lls journey. I know I'm preaching like a Dad because I am. Happy Fathers Day, Jim
Good job guys keep up the good work 🎉🎉🎉
I don’t know if anyone told you but the cement board needs to be piloted before fastening with mail or screws so it doesn’t crack out. ✌️
Just curious, with the added weight of the cement siding, will it also add more stress to the trusses?
I like the "wall end support HOOTIS!" :))
BEAUTIFUL SALUDOS DESDE MIAMI FLORIDA MUCHAS VENDISIONES 👍
Ceiling fan would be nice out there.
😉
So we have Mr Captain Crocs,Mrs Captain Crocs, and Little Captain Croc's i see a extra tee shirt design in the future. It is a very good idea to leave the sides open. Hope you guys are feeling better very soon
Credit to you Mrs Capt Crocs! To work like that carrying a fever, wow, you deserve a least one extra ice-cold beer! Tough work, but then if something's worth having , it's surely worth putting the effort into it! Congratulations!
😂 love it!
Ended up being the stomach flu so it’s been rough. I think I’m on the mend now! Much love to you Dave!
Couple fans would look good on the porch
Absolutely!
Great job
Hope you guys are feeling better
Looks awesome!!!!
Thank you!!
Yall gonna give that mama bird PTSD with that nail gun. LOL. I'm glad you left here a way to get out though, that's the right/honorable thing to do. Mrs CC looked like she was leading a horse out the house, then I noticed it was a sheet rock stand. Lol.
Yall be careful in that heat, I know your young, but you know it will sneak up on you. I know you know, just reminding you.
William Suttle
Looking good
