Also no one talks about the fact that "living off the grid" is not possible because:
1. Someone probably owns whatever piece of land you're gonna try to live on (most likely the government)
2. Most bodies of water are polluted with agricultural or industrial waste
3. Climate instability is going to make it extremely difficult to consistently grow crops even if you find an unowned piece of land with a clean water source

I agree with Monet. Most of all, money gives you the freedom to choose.. you can choose to relax, to invest, to splurge, to travel, to employ, to grow.. basically anything in society. I hate whenever people bring up the "just go live off grid if you want freedom".. that is NOT freedom, it does not give you the freedom to do whatever you want, it just keeps you from spending money on utilities you would have to deal with if you lived in a society.

I agree with Monet that you can be broke and have one or more family members with money. Bob was trying to twist her argument into acting like Monet was implying that her being broke is the same as somebody who is broke with no family members with money, which is not what Monet was saying.
Agree, being broke and being homeless are two different situations, you can be homeless and broke, you can be homeless and not broke and you can be broke but not homeless

Get on board” or telling civil rights advocates “we live in a segregated society. Get on board”
But then again, it’s probably easy to “get on board” with capitalism when you’re one of the most successful winners of drag race and currently starring on a multi-season show on HBO. A little bit harder when you’re working multiple jobs, barely sleeping, barely eating, and are still struggling to afford the rent when it’s due.

Either he does not understand that just because YOU personally want something or think it would be great for your own life doesn't mean everybody else thinks the same way OR he just likes to disagree with Monet. Also, his false equivalency of making more money and automatically spending more is completely wrong. It would be completely up to you how much you want to spend; nobody forces you to spend more just because you make more.
Exactly!! No one made him employ people and no one made him invest more into his life.. Money gave him the freedom of CHOICE, a freedom that can't ever be achieved from living off grid or living in a cheap place..

I'm starting to think that Mo grew up rich in St Lucia but comfortable/upper-middle class in the US. Like Bob is misunderstanding how much Mo's family had/has. I know Bob exaggerates naturally but I think he truly is misunderstanding too. I say this as in my country, even teachers have domestic workers and gardeners for example.

know so you can improve together. Tell them things you like or things that can make it better. Im sure they will actually appreciate the feedback. Its either gonna be you or someone else down the line who tells them anyway. Prioritize your own happiness. To some people sex is important in a relationship and if its not working do what you feel is best. Even if theres a bond. But i think talking and communicating comes first. Ghosting them or just tolerating the trash sex i dont think is good advice.

I think the word “broke” is relative to individual life experience. As is the term “rich”. My experiences relate more to monet's as I’ve always had a place to stay with my mom but I’ve never had much money in my own personal wallet. I currently live with my mom, but have almost 8000 in debt. So I consider myself “broke” as I lack personal wealth, but my bobs definition, I’m not broke because I’m not homeless and begging for food. Everyone is allowed to have their own definition of terms, because certain words are vague that you have to. Don’t invalidate someone else’s experiences or definition of a term just because yours is different.

If you have a net to fall to you can easily pick yourself up. Get a recommendation for a job. Not pay for rent and bills til you have enough money live out again. Have someone feed you, etc.

Yeah I actually think Bob was spitting hard facts. Yes someone can experience struggle even if their family has money because for one reason or another their family can choose to cut them off but there are SO FUCKING MANY things that are taken for granted about having a net. If you have a family with a house like monet, to bobs point she could have lost everything and still had at least a couch to sleep on. Whereas someone like me who has no family at all, both my parents are homeless ppl, if I don’t pay my rent I’m homeless now too. And you know damn well that most ppl in monets position have a place to go for the holidays where they get even a $5 subway gift card for Xmas and that is overlooked but no net ppl would kill for a fuckin gift card for Christmas. Also, there is a direct correlation between having a net and having the confidence to take financial risks. Poor ppl with no net will stay at a low paying job and and avoid risks because there’s nothing there to catch them if they fall. Safety net ppl can switch jobs or get sick or stand up for themselves in the workplace because the stakes aren’t that high!!! And if we could put a price tag on a phone call home to your mom for advice? Babyyyyy try being a young adult in the world figuring out how to navigate EVERYTHING for the first time with no one older to advise you. And NO ONE there to offer you to bring your laundry home on the weekends so you can save your quarters and a trip to the laundromat. Having a safety net means you are not as broke as you think. But I will say, there are people who don’t have any any any contact with family because they were rejected or disowned but I don’t think that’s monet and I don’t think they count to what I’m saying because they then by definition don’t have a safety net

i love bob so much but im in a time in my life where im back living living my parents who want me out of their house bc they dont know the trauma ive dealt with and they dont support my queerness. i cant afford my medication or physical therapy, and hardly can pay for my therapist who only sees me bc she knows how bad of a situation im in. im in a long distance relationship with my bf ever since covid and my bf is caring for his sick grandma, but my mental illness has convinced me hes happier away from me than close to me bc he can just send me beautiful words, gifts, and money bc he knows im gullible and in love enough to stay happy this way. i know thats untrue and he cares way more, but due to my lack of income, and especially the emotional and mental abuse im currently enduring in the home i grew up in, it honesltly hurts to hear bob talk about money like it means nothing to him and like it hasnt helped his life. idk why but my heart is breakng bc i guess this is my first actual proof of someone in find genuine letting money change them. id do anything for more money, and i work everyday with major depressive disorder and so much shit going on. i just want it to stop. i know money wouldnt make me tru,y content but i find that my happiest moments are spent and not broke ya know?

Its such a sucky feeling that if you lost just a fraction of your money or have it stolen and you have no one to borrow money from like your parents is you might potentially get kicked out of your rental or lose water and electricity.
the definition of being broke is having no money. you yourself can not have money while still having a family member that has money. that doesn't mean you're not broke

That's a fast ticket to jealously and hurt on their part. Just be open and honest. If you want only sex, say that. I think it's better to possibly loose what you do have with them instead of stringing them along to fulfill your needs, that's def selfish.
