Omg, that woman with the man who was gardening?! Ugh! I heard something recently that has stuck with me: "learn to be comfortable with other people's discomfort." Makes sense. It's not your job to make someone else feel better. It's your job to take care of yourself. If someone feels embarrassed about making an insensitive, racist comment, then good! They should feel uncomfortable.

It’s weird to see Bob be so passionate about being “excluded” but just a month ago he had a different opinion when monet was upset that he didn’t tell him about going to the award show
I was thinking about that when their little argument started. I think maybe Bob was (consciously/unconsciously, who knows) getting back at Monet for always leaving him out of stuff. I think Bob used Monet's logic against her: monet not feeling the need to check if Bob was invited/or attending. Which is why Bob did not feel bad about his decision then.

@@deviouschuckle the award show wasn't a work event, it was juuust an event--that honestly neither really prioritized considering how they didn't promote their nomination. So it might as well be a casual.
After who's knows how many hangouts he's been (intentionally/unintentionally) excluded from he's bound to not give a fuck anymore. Which is what he said in the podcast, that Bob now just does his own thing. Which is not to say they don't hang out but more so he no longer cares to reach out for hangouts or events bc Monet doesn't. You know what I mean?
I honestly think more people should talk to kids 'like they're adults.' Being treated like your own person and being taken seriously as a kid really is better for your confidence and communication skills in the long run.
Soooo many kids would run away from home if that were the case! I think parents know deep down that their children are more intelligent than they wanna admit, but just can’t do the damn thing, cause it would break multi generational stuff lol

admit my own mistakes to them. I teach them how to take accountability and apologize with my example. I am here to break these generational traumas. Hurt people do indeed hurt people- imagine what a healed people can do. I did my work on ME - it’s ok to admit that you don’t have it all figured out- parents.
My parents always did and although I still personally fucked up. I’m still thankful for being able to actually communicate directly.

I think maybe Bob is one of those people that has a vibe that doesn't gel well with certain settings/activities so his friends will leave him out of certain things. There was an earlier pod where Monet alluded to not inviting Bob to certain get togthers because he doesn't drink and get high. I get it but it does kinda suck for Bob.

As a vet tech, I have to confirm that white people love food names for their pets. Some of my favorite patient food names from over the years are Pancake, Kiwi, Ravioli, Waffle, and Chicken (she was a senior cat).
I'm naming my future cat Mish-Mish, which come from the Arab word for peach.

1. Was because I was cosplaying so I thought it was funny
2. I was digging through clothes at an Old Navy and folded them back up so I give that person a pass because it looked like I was just folding the clothes
3. I was just looking at makeup in a target.... Not wearing red or anything and this white woman asked me where something is and I definitely caught an attitude with her

Bob if you didn't want anything to change why even bring it up in the first place? If anything you could make an effort to hang out with the people YOU want to see instead making it to be this targeted attack against Monet. Saying your feelings out loud is one thing but playing the victim in a situation where it's literally partly your fault, by not answering your texts, is another.

No shade to Monét but im fully with Bob on not the being invited thingy. I’m like Monét when it comes to remembering to invite other people, I just don’t remember to invite others when I make plans with somebody. So’ I get that inviting Bob doesn’t come naturally to Monét. But, if my best friend told me that they wanted to get invited to stuff, I would just try my best to make them feel included immediately. It’s so uncomfortable to be the person that’s like “I wanna be invited” and after a while when you finally start to get invited, i feel like it would feel shitty to go. It’s like, yeah, I’m finally invited but if it took me asking like 5 times, it’s not worth going anymore.
But Bob would be invited and would not text back. And he expects people to put in the extra effort of calling him to invite him every time even though everybody else gets a text invite.

This thing of associating gentials, erogenous zones or sexual preferences with disgust is so prevalent in the world, and needs to be addressed whatever group it happens in. I remember growing up as a gay man with mostly straight female friends, that they used to talk about they could not date a bisexual guy because he had had anal sex, making ew sounds when talking about guys taking it up the ass etcetera. It made me feel so unconfortable. Especially the not dating a bi guy because they did not like that he had been bottoming for a man (and thus seeming more "female") says a lot about how homophobia and misogyni work. And I have heard so many cis straight females talk about this even today.

I don't think its right to try and dictate how people should feel what level of attraction to what gentials.

If your friends prefer texting to phone calls and you’re the only odd one out, then you should make more of an effort to respond. Especially if a group chat was started to plan hangouts (I’m assuming that’s what happened). Just my opinion

Monet has already explained that Bob was not intentionally excluded but Bob keeps bringing it up as though Bob was intentionally excluded and expecting people to empathize with their mindset before Bob found out that Bob was not excluded. Also, it's weird that Bob expects for their invite to involve a whole extra step of calling Bob to invite them when everybody else just gets a text (that was probably copied and pasted). Bob is so busy that they probably can't answer the phone when they're working, which might lead to a game of phone tag, just to invite Bob to plans that the rest of the group already texted back and agreed to.
Yeah this one was odd, but I've been noticing more often in the 2022 podcasts that bob has been I don't wanna say angrier or more upset, but like bob will preach things by saying "for ME" or "this is just how I feel" but then like doesn't reciprocate it for monet, or just ignores what monet is saying regarding it. Obviously in this case monet just wasn't saying "I'm sorry you felt that way" so like, fair. But monet was giving a valid criticism in "you're harder to get a hold of" and bob wasn't accepting that maaaaaaybe some fault can be put on him.

Bob and Monet missed the part where the caller said he DID confront his friends before about not inviting him out. The friends outright said they didn't invite the caller because he always wants to be the centre of attention.
It sounds like there is more to the situation than the caller was letting on and that his (ex?) besties don't like being around him anymore. Quite different to Kim/Monet accidentally not inviting Bob to a gathering of mutual friends.

I worked at a school district for 7 years (granted as an IT guy, not a teacher) and if I was in a classroom fixing something kids always wanted to chat cuz they want to be distracted. Assuming lessons weren't going on I'd chat back but always talked to them like they were equals. Teachers I'd got to know enough would usually tell me their class liked me and would even ask how I got their respect so fast. It's just because I didn't put on a goofy voice and use small words, or tell them they wouldn't understand and all the crap people do to kids. I guess I learned that though from helping adults that are not tech literate with their IT problems.

I don’t trust people who say they hate pets, it’s one thing to be allergic but to say you hate all pets is a no go.
You don’t ever find it odd, us having pets? I’m disabled and need a support animal that I can’t afford so that’s where my bias comes from; it weirds me out that people spend so much money to keep animals that they then only complain about/don’t train/prefer to take photos of than care for etc, so I more so just find the idea of having a pet to be weird. I’m trying to get what you mean though, Is your distrust from a place of worrying they would be violent towards a pet or something?

If you think that communications to everyone the same way is making equal effort to include everyone, then you just aren’t making the effort needed. People communicate differently, and as a friend, I would understand that
@@skytangerined9510 to me a text is enough. If someone doesn’t reply I assume the don’t want to go do whatever it is that was suggested in the text. The phone also works both ways. So say if Bob doesn’t want to text back he can call Kim or whoever to make plans. So he puts in some effort as opposed to everyone putting in the extra effort of calling after they have already texted and heard nothing back. I think it’s just a miscommunication on communication styles.

Edit: I was also the left out friend 😔... I didn't even have to option 😂😂..
