What reason do we have to believe this business over any other? Either is today or 10yrs from now 9/10 slowly this business will follow the same path as all of the others. Some people change overtime change everyone ends up in the same place
It is generally a sad situation, not only in that area. Every time you buy something online or offline, that is not a big name brand like Amazon, wall mart or whatever, the first thing that pops in your mind is "okay, how could this company/person try to scam me?". And the unfortunate truth, as also mentioned here, is: this is a valid step as it most of this world seems to be out to get you.
They aren't out to get you, they are out to get what they want with the least expense possible. Amazon only works because it needs trust to survive, the smaller businesses do too, if they care to continue, but there is so much selection pressure against small business today due to economies of scale and regulation that these businesses are so ephemeral it makes more sense to just discard them after the scam has run its course. What most people should seek more of is counterparty risk (someone else who pays you if the transaction fails) or validation through reviews not on that site that are somewhat curated (meaning the site moderates in a way that effectively prevents fake posts/etc.) Amazon is doing an incredibly poor job here, leaving some room for competition if a clever person can figure out a way to offer this.
I would much rather the government do some things to protect our privacy and stop the epidemic of data collection and mining and selling. I really don't care that much about embedded ads that aren't disclosed.

EVERYBODY knows it's not a real rolex, you might be able to fool 3 people in your life for a couple of days maybe and that's it. meanwhile big corporations get deals to have like just nokia phones in a movie or something, and it's all according to the rules it's all officially disclosed yet NOBODY knows about it. i don't know the actual reality of it all. but i worry a lot more about journalists just use information from terrorists as a headline overnight. I don't care if people get scammed by influencers because they will learn and distrust them. but what if nobody trusts the sort of "institutional/traditional information givers"? or are where there already? I suspect most of the resin crafters are sponsored or comped resin and other materials but don't say it. I was annoyed when Seinfeld's Cars & Coffee show got a coffee sponsorship in the 4th season without saying it. The b-roll suddenly features a lot of prominent logos of a certain coffee company.

I know this is an old video but I'll comment in case you get bored and see this. My "issue" with LTT videos isn't that I don't trust you it's that you optimize for the wrong end of the spectrum. I don't care to game at 4000 FPS on an 8K display. Realistically anything more than 30 at 1080p is just fine, I'm more curious about power efficiency, product circular life cycles, bang for buck, etc. The constant obsession with fast but who cares at what price/quality is pointless. Fast is good for labs, science, commerce, etc. Quality is better for home use.

TSMC should get all the credit for the power draw of many low power Processors on the market. AMD, Apple, Qualcomm, NVIDIA. Only Intel uses their own foundries. Intel would then dominate PC enthusiasts markets until Ryzen 3000 desktop CPUs shifted all the fickle PC Elitists back to AMD.
I'm not a fan boy but when someone accuses you of taking money for a positive review you just need to respond that you wouldn't risk a X million dollar company for the sake of a Y thousand dollar review.

There is such a gulf between people posting for their friends or for fun and those who make a career out of it. I do think it should be fairly high so as not to ounish small time influencers.
Man I love Luke's explosive laughter so much lmao
the 'cool' moment is the best part
LMG really needs to play a manufactured white noise for the dead air, it's so unnerving, makes me think my headphones stopped working
influencers not being honest? I'm shocked! oh no wait that's not true. I'm surprised it's not higher.
NO BEARD? been gone too long😂
Queue the Monty Python witch skit. 😂
would be awesome to see how your sponsered videos work like an actual break down from recieved the message to implimentation. Lots of people dont understand how it works and maybe some transparancy would go along way especially if you feel this pasonate about when people get it wrong. I understand you might not be able to disclose a lot of info but maybe how it works generically?
Right after Luke got finished talking about how Microsoft is gonna get hit with some AI lawsuit I get an ad for Microsoft’s ai😂
Always remember Linus, some people just want to watch the world burn. They live to take a crap on anything, and anyone. Especially those who are successful in their chosen field. Many people don't want to rise to any higher level, so they simply work to pull others down to theirs. Haters are sadly, and pitifully, always going to hate.
No surprise here.
I recall them going after Pewdiepie because his sponsor info on Shadow of Mordor was below the fold. I could be misremembering though.
i mean i know from personal experience in the camera world, alot of reviewers get sony products and they get blasting overpositive reviews on the sample they have and then sony just forgets you have this $4000 camera, or they pay for you to fly out to hawaii, for a press release. Also if you give a negative review on something goodbye free camera. X100VI for example has very minor improvements and actually has recieved negative reviews from the non youtube spaces, but youtubers are claiming its the best camera ever made. The trust is gone because once you give a bad review on a product you will not get any more free gear to review.
hell i'm a plumber and im being flown to italy with room and board in a nice hotel to look at plumbing products at a plumbing expo, i can't even imagine what happens in the tech world.
What reason do we have to believe this business over any other? Either is today or 10yrs from now 9/10 slowly this business will follow the same path as all of the others. Some people change overtime change everyone ends up in the same place
Hmm yes, this floor is made of floor
What most people should seek more of is counterparty risk (someone else who pays you if the transaction fails) or validation through reviews not on that site that are somewhat curated (meaning the site moderates in a way that effectively prevents fake posts/etc.)
Amazon is doing an incredibly poor job here, leaving some room for competition if a clever person can figure out a way to offer this.
Rules without fair enforcement must be abolished. If you can’t enforce the rule, it’s a stupid rule
I would much rather the government do some things to protect our privacy and stop the epidemic of data collection and mining and selling. I really don't care that much about embedded ads that aren't disclosed.
Influencer not being honest? Wow who would of guessed
Perhaps people are thinking, "If I cannot trust anything my own governments say can I trust anybody else? And let's snipe at them for it."
{o.o}
Check about the new Pirate game from Ubisoft. It's really hated among everyone and there are still people (influencers) who "like" the game..... It even gets positive revieuws from "known" revieuwers.
Linus is talking about dishonesty with paid promotions?
Well well well, how the turntables.
I need those Audio Technica ear cups....
Pot calling the kettle black Linus!
the sponsored influencer thing is a non issue to me, it's nothing new. the guy that sells you a real rolex on whatever beach on whatever holiday isn't selling. IDK
I guess the tech area is less affected, given the viewership usually knows a bit about the internet and what is going on.
I don't think they won't comply... They absolutely should! But won't... Police needs to be involved.
Whoa! When did the live action Beavis and Butt-Head come out?!
Jokes aside, I enjoyed the segment. Happy to see MTV is back. Is Celebrity Deathmatch coming up next?
I suspect most of the resin crafters are sponsored or comped resin and other materials but don't say it. I was annoyed when Seinfeld's Cars & Coffee show got a coffee sponsorship in the 4th season without saying it. The b-roll suddenly features a lot of prominent logos of a certain coffee company.
Its almost like something happened in the last 12 months that would of affected LMG credibility i wounder what that was?
The only gambling adverts I see are for rust gambling sites and I don't see how you can be playing actual rust and transition to talking about a gambling website without it being obvious it is paid.
It seems like viewcounts are generally something like 10% real views if that.
WHAT ??!!
I feel like linus and ltt has always been the reference in obscuring or dishonesty about sponsorship.
ith opaque "this is frost impression" not a review etc etc. I by default think it's sponsored
Jon Rettinger is the worst youtube for sponsored content. He maybe posts 2 videos a year where the entire video isn't sponsored from the maker of the product.
If you want to help, then name names! I'm tired of "we see people doing it but we won't tell you who!" You called it overstepping. Overstepping what? Call them the hell out!
_You are complicit until you do!_
Clearly it was a slap on thw wriat because they're still doing it. If it's only a fine that doesn't exceed the profit then it's merely a cost of doing business.
1:47 Your possibility of looking cool disappeared alongside the beard 😂 /jk
Sorry LTT, we forgot how to read descriptions :(
Remember when influencer Linus wasn't being honest with his reviews?
If you make a video that looks sponsored but you got no money from the company could you use that as a tax wright off :) ☺
Vincent from HDTVTest does ads all the time with the disclosure hidden in the video description. People call him out in the comments and all he says is that he’s not violating UK law. Super scummy for someone who’s otherwise such a high quality reviewer
Regarding what Linus said with the stubborn commenters calling him a shill, Linus actually brought the water to the horses and they still refused to drink 🤷♂
Not much else you can do
Wow Linus is RIPPED
he’s pretty big too, they do couple swaps with other rich people, i’ve met him once
Don't worry I'm sure the American influencers are more honest 😅
Shocking revelations I know
I know this is an old video but I'll comment in case you get bored and see this.
I think Linus gets pretty mad at things for no reason pretty often but him complaining about comments is completely fair, tech UA-camrs have by far the most smug comment sections.
Linus is at the point in life where is is or has switched from a young liberal to an older conservative.
texas is hell to me now and im disgusted at texas as well i was once proud of texas for what it once was now im just pissed and done with politicians and this stupid border stuff republics can go six feet in the ground im over them and the democractics as well
TSMC should get all the credit for the power draw of many low power Processors on the market. AMD, Apple, Qualcomm, NVIDIA. Only Intel uses their own foundries. Plus PC Elitists jump from Intel to AMD and back again. I remember the old Athlon days when AMD was “superior” to PC Elitists over Intel’s Pentium 4, until Intel released its Core processor. Intel would then dominate PC enthusiasts markets until Ryzen 3000 desktop CPUs shifted all the fickle PC Elitists back to AMD.
Based on how bad and dishonest the fair phone review was
Ofc there is no trust in influencers
What are the French gonna do? Angerly surrender?
Man, at there Linus made a huge Fo Puh
I'm not a fan boy but when someone accuses you of taking money for a positive review you just need to respond that you wouldn't risk a X million dollar company for the sake of a Y thousand dollar review.
This is obviously sponsored by LTT
It's okay Linus the FTC here is such a joke that they might as well be putting out stuff that's only guidelines
To the point of the Logitech / Intel sponsorship claims. Linus, what you have to realize is from our perspective we can't always tell. You know, from running your company, how sponsorships work and the steps your company goes through to be transparent. We don't have that experience.
To me, the viewer, you claiming that ltt handles business properly is just like the ~500 (good and bad) European influencers claiming the same thing. We don't know you and your team personally. We can't see behind the curtain, and we don't heve the experience to understand even if we could.
If you don’t trust Lmg Ltt or Linus why are you watching? If I can’t trust the opinions of someone then I don’t consume the content. I guess unless it’s comedy/satire where the persons views don’t matter but anytime where even a bit of their opinion being part of it I won’t watch unless I trust it. If it’s a one off sure but then don’t accuse people of shit without proof and just be skeptical and go about your day.
And these claims were ridiculous I hope they were trolling because they were so such incredibly brain dead takes it’s offensive to people in comas.
don’t worry Linus you are cool
Allow me to voice the devil on your shoulder. Ahem, "welllllllllllllllllllllllllllll if you're gonna be treated like cooperate shills no matter what, may as well get paid for it 😉"
Can you guys do more comparison reviews of compact projectors please. Like some of these Chinese brands from Amazon.
What Linus doesn’t disclose is whether he keeps the products. Always think it dodgy AF, especially since they’re used to give to employees.
yes he does most of them, in a box stored backside, couple of times there were tours, like thousands of random stuff laying around.
Linus Cool Tips
well, LTT never discloses to UA-cam that the videos contain ads 🤷♂️... not even when they are sponsor videos...
lowkey though... linus kinda ripped?
