    Quick question, at 5:24 you mention to select the edge tool and press k, but instead that switches to the knife tool and I can no longer follow along. Any tips?
    edit: Disregard, I just saw that you commented on the same question below!
    edit2 : Just found an easier way to do it. First select the knife, then in the settings on the right, select plane mode from the dropdown. In the additional plane field, select X-Z and you can do it in one click just like the video.

    I really appreciate your tutorials but I am totally stuck on the brush tool for the bushes, I have no idea how you got your results so smooth. I seem to have the same settings for the brush tool but mine is just grabbing points and pushing them in and out in a really unnatural fashion making sharp points and also making the bush look like a bone shape

    • @eliprenten7066
      @eliprenten7066 4 роки тому

      You need to do it with short clicks and swipes. The longer you keep brushing over it, the sharper it gets.
      You can also smooth it back if needed by pressing: shift+C and type "smooth". Then pick the Smooth (sculpt) tool in that list.
      You also got to be sure the cube has enough polygons.

    Hi, 17:10. - you used “loop/path cut”. I can’t repeat to cut on equal segment. I selected the line, but when I moved cursor on “options” in order to change “Number of Cuts” the fields became blocked. And finally I have only one cut.

    • @twistereli
      @twistereli  7 років тому +1

      I'm not sure if I fully understand the problem... But it sounds like you're making the cut in the edge mode, make sure you have that front polygon selected instead (polygon mode).

    Hello.
    I'm sorry for bugging you again. But I am trying to figure out how you duplicate the door without getting an additional layer. In minute 21:15 you say to duplicate the polygon. When I duplicate the polygon, I get a new layer, where as you do not. Plus I also notice a couple of squares pop up above the cursor when you say duplicate using scale. I'm really not sure how you do that. I even slow down the speed and I still can't figure out. Please help.
    Thanks.

    • @mashable8759
      @mashable8759 6 років тому +1

      Thanks but why is the Extrude and Ctrl so similar?

    • @eliprenten7066
      @eliprenten7066 6 років тому +1

      They're almost the same thing. The main difference is you can only extrude in one direction, but Ctrl-duplicating can be used with the move, scale and rotation tools.
      The main advantage for me is speed. But also having control of the direction of your extrusion sometimes. Especially on cylinders you can feel the difference between Extrude and Ctrl, you can try that out if you want to see what happens.

  • @madlowles
    @madlowles 6 років тому

    When I drag the two extruded rectangle into the Boole at 10:30 ... it is not subtracting them from the house shape like the others. I cannot figure out why.

    • @twistereli
      @twistereli  6 років тому +1

      Hm, many possibilities.
      The most logical thing would be that your extruded rectangles are not overlapping with the building to begin with.
      Another thing that could be happening is that you don't have all these windows inside that null/group. A boole only intersects the first 2 objects under it.
      A last thing I can come up with now, is that you need to swap the hierarchy of the building and the windows in your object manager.
      I hope it works!

    • @madlowles
      @madlowles 6 років тому

      Thanks for your reply. Tried everything and can't get it to work :/ imgur.com/y3tmxiY
      New to C4D so going to move on with it anyway. Great tutorial, thanks.

    • @twistereli
      @twistereli  6 років тому +1

      Ohhh I see, you made the Boole editable. You see the icon next to "Boole", its the same as all other groups. It should be a green icon. When you make it editable, it loses its functions and just converts the objects.
      So what you need to do is creating a new boole object, and put your windows & building under that one.
      Happy learning!

    I have a problem with the yellow handles on the widget not appearing which makes it a pain to, for example scale in 1 direction. Sometimes the handles are there, sometimes not. Any suggestions. Thanks

    • @eliprenten7066
      @eliprenten7066 5 років тому

      They only remain visible/usable as long as the object isn't made editable.
      Once you moved some of the polygons or points it will lose the functionality of these handles and you have to use the scale tool.

    Completely lost me on the boole window section. I drag the extruded windows under the booled building and they don't boole out the shape, they just stay the same. incredibly frustrating trying to rework this for an hour X(

    • @eliprenten7066
      @eliprenten7066 4 роки тому

      There's a couple of things that have to be right:
      - The boole must be active. So the green checkmark next to it, not a red cross
      - The boole has to be set to "A subtract B" (default)
      - The building shape comes first, then the windows
      - The window shapes have to overlap the building
      - And most importantly the windows need to be grouped together (Alt+G when you have them all selected). Because a boole only cuts the first 2 parts (A&B) inside of it. So I guess that's what you're having troubles with.

      I recommend using just the regular knife tool (K on the keyboard). Then go in a side view for example and make 1 cut through the whole building. Make sure no polygons are selected, it is set to "line" and "visible only" turned off.
      Hope it helps!

    Amazing tutorial! But I'm having difficulties rotating objects after I make them editable. It seems that my rotating option is very far away from the actual object itself.

    • @eliprenten7066
      @eliprenten7066 4 роки тому +1

      Correct. The axis remains in the original position, but when moving points and polygons they may get further away from that axis.
      Easiest & quickest fix is to select the objects > press Shift+C > Type "center axis to" and hit Enter.

    • @twistereli
      @twistereli  7 років тому

      2 options I would advice:
      (As Bryan mentioned in the comments here):
      "First select the knife, then in the settings on the right, select plane mode from the dropdown. In the additional plane field, select X-Z and you can do it in one click just like the video."
      or
      Use the regular knife tool (line cut). Deselect "visible only" so it cuts all the way through and make a cut in one of the side views. You can hold Shift to make it go straight.

      Twistereli thanks for the advice! but then when using the knife tool in plane mode, how can i adjust the distance so that the new polygons i'm making are the same size above and below?

    • @twistereli
      @twistereli  7 років тому +1

      That would not be possible to do 100% exact with this method.
      1 more alternative I can provide is actually using the "slide" tool (right click > slide).
      You can do that when you're in the edge mode and select that ring of lines which you would like to have a 2nd copy of. If you have the "clone" option turned on you can use the offset slider to set the exact distance like in the video.

      The older versions like R13 have a limited version of the knife tool. It should have some options for it at the bottom right window. The dropdown may show something like a "plane" mode. Not 100% sure what it is like on R13

    I love your tutorials but you sometimes forget to mention you are grouping objects. Also, you didn’t mention how to get to “point mode.”
    Finally, when doing windows and doors, The objects flatten out after rotating 90 degrees. They appear 3D after extruding, but when turned to 90 degrees, they flatten out. How do I resolve that? Have you had that problem?
    Again, your tutorials are awesome. So pls don’t be offended by my question. I am a graphic designer and always wanted to learn a 3D program.
    Thank you.

      Thank you for your feedback. The point mode can be accessed at the left side of your screen, just in case you haven't found it yet.
      For the extrusions that are flattening out, it is most likely because you rotate the object called "rectangle" that is inside of your extrude object. You need to rotate your whole extrude object on its own. I hope that makes sense to you.

      Sir, first I want to thank you for your quick response. I'm truly impressed with your genuine interest in helping a fellow designer. So thank you for that.
      Yes. That helped a lot. I was rotating the door/window object separately from the extrusion . You nailed it. However, I have not been able to figure out how to "isolate" the Object to (point mode) like you do in the video at 11:42.
      Thank you.

      With that "rectangle" object still selected, you click on the button on the left that looks like a cube with 2 orange dots on it. I click it (fast) on 11:39 to 11:40

      No, you will not get to do most things shown in the video. Sorry to tell you that.

    Hey i was just looking at your dribbble profile and was wondering what and interaction designer is?

    • @twistereli
      @twistereli  7 років тому

      Interaction design is mostly what people know as UI & UX. But at my education there was also a portion of motion graphics, game design and 3D in it, that's why I'm also doing these kind of videos now.

    I dont have the Edge loop cut tool :( Just the Knife :(

    • @eliprenten7066

      Don't worry, it may work just a little different, but you can change the mode of you knife tool. I think there is even a loop mode in it. You can do that at the bottom right corner of your screen when using the knife tool.
      Good luck!
