Justin’s discussion regarding battery performance was quite on point. Amazing person indeed! Here’s the kind of person who should be leading this industry. Grin is on my radar 100%! That’s a company who have their business set straight. Bravo!!!

Chase, this interview is one of the best things you have offered. Firstly, I regret that I live on an opposing edge of the continent, but am pumped that such capable souls are cooperating in B. C. The discussion on battery management alone is worth the time for Ebike enthusiasts. Had you biked all the way there from Austin it would have been worth it. I am one who loves the self powered bike I have, so I will be getting in touch with Grin Tech. You are truly multiplying the service you offer to your community! Thank you!

20:23 it is called a "battery aging" and is a chemical process happening into the battery that depends on state of charge (voltage) and the ambient temperature. The higher the voltage and temperature, the quicker an aging happens to the battery. As a result, it loses its capacity.
Absolutely priceless interview! The amount of information and its quality... I would say, DENSITY, is so high. And that attitude! The eyes are shining out of the depth you all are into this field and mouth is too slow to deliver the length of the message you have!

I am very impressed with your interview with Justin. I'm probably the age of most e-cyclist grandfather's.
In the late 70's I was a suit at McDonald Douglas Aircraft, Long Beach, Ca.
That was around the time I graduated from a bicycle rider to a Cyclist.
My first nice bike was a Pinarello full Campy/Cinelli/Omas titanium bottom bracket.
I spent most Saturdays at My Friends bike shop.
The atmosphere was like at Grin Technology.
Watching You video brought back memories.
I subscribed to Your channel today. Which means I will watch Your videos to completion and leave a thumbs up/ comment.
Continue to turn out great video.
    R Mack an Elder Cyclist.
I'm building My dream e-bike it should be finished by My 74 birthday August 15th. If You like I will send you a video.
    Right now I'm riding My
preproduction mule all the components from Amazon.
My parts list includes a Grin Technology cycle analysis v3.
I will end this before it turns into a book.

      @aarongzmn 2 роки тому +1

@@TheAgentAssassin He's talked about his reasoning for hub motors and I feel like it's pretty solid. The main one I remember is redundancy. Say your chain breaks on a ride, we'll you can still use the hub motor to get where you want to go. And same thing if the hub motor/electronics die, you can simply pedal the rest of the way to your destination.

This is the BEST Interview i ever saw. Just halfway in, but i am so stoked at the prospect of seeing the range simulater coming up ...
I salute all the initiative of making people learn and yes i did, partly thx to grin tec, motivated by the suntrip and also using endlessphere ...
Ultimately it was bikes that got me interested and served as some sort of gateway technologie into new interests, but it is people like Justin that keep me looking positively at this world and let's me enjoy learning without only asking myself why most people would still do things as they do ...

I use a small light weight front wheel hub motor with 250 watts to help me be faster on the hills. 250 watts is perfect for me because it is legal (in Germany), cheap (I bought a used ebike from ebay with battery and charger included) and durable.

The Key Points So crucial in this first half is the battery tech discussed on Charging Lithium to
it's best condition, and it confirmed pretty much what I had learned over the past ten years,
by the habits developed when using batteries whether for cordless tools, cell phone, etc.
Holy Cow - this was Seven Years Ago? - Now theTitle on TV - Aug 2015.

I love the talk about shipping logistics for battery packs, the absence of ebike shops (or regular bike shops that deal in ebike mechanics). My local shop said they can't get insurance for ebike repair (Philadelphia, PA). I imagine many bike shop employees still are 'purists' but that the insurance and a bunch of other basic practical considerations also contribute.

I find that it is good to fully charge the battery and leave it charging for 2 hours in order to balance . Do this after 6 - 8 cycles of 15 - 90% then use the battery right away ..
After use , charge when battery has cooled off upto 75% and finish charging just before our next ride .
Never leave battery full over night .
If you store battery store at 50 - 70 % and check after 3 months , if ok leave and check 3 after months .
If you stored for 6 months or more , fully charge plus 2 hours for balancing , and use within hours so it does not sit fully charged.
(Fully charged batteries degrade quickly if left fully charged .)
Batteries need additional charging time in order to balance cells . 2 -5 hours once charger light turns from red to green . This will not over charge but it will fully charge each cell .
Note Always be nearby and awake while charging . Most fires occur while charging.
If smoke happens ... unplug and move battery oudoors . If fire occurs unplug and use water to cool battery . Battery should now be properly disposed at battery recycler .
    Do not use !

Early 1990’s when you went to the store.
Every box had so much technical information on the back of the box, it was so great. Some times it was funny because the front had marketing bs and in the back the engineering specs would tell you the truth.

ElectricBikeReview.com Absolutely Court. Now that I have watched the full video, I have to say, this hands down is one of the most informative videos on ebikes I have seen on youtube. Justin is very innovative and a very smart fellow. So glad to him working and improving ebikes and motor technology. I have used the Cycle Analsyst. It's amazing. I only wish the Satiator came with BMS capability. The biggest reason I dont use a BMS on my battery is due to BMS failures and unreliability of all the various BMS out there. Hopefully future version of the of Satiator will incorporate a BMS function as well to balance charge various packs.
