This version rules, including the awesome footage. It's on my list of clips to never go a month without watching again. I feel the drummer somehow knew that in the distant future people would still need his groove. He's looking into the camera, receiving our signal, and saying "OK I got you."
Love the performance of Aint No Sunshine from this Old Grey Whistle Test session, happy to see more from the same set. Incredible performance. RIP Bill Withers
Sometimes the word legend can be to weak of a word depending on who u taking about this man is a prime example of that. Period and even when o was born bill was done with recording and making new albums and just listening i hear and see why he is who he is chillen in the heavens and all today he still a beast in the music game
Finallllllly someone notices the great lead guitar playing in this live version along with all other instrumentals. Restrained, subtle but oh so great.
@@benorceblackmon398 What an HONOR... you have bought a smile to my face many many times listening to your licks and I'm not even a guitarist haha... Thank YOU brotha !!
My friends Feel it's their appointed duty They keep tryin' to tell me All you want to do is use me Ah-huh, but my answer (Ah-huh) Yeah to all that use me stuff I, I, I, I Yes, I wanna spread the news That if it feels this good gettin' used Oh, you just keep on usin' me Until you use me up Until you use me up My brother Sit me right down and he talked to me He told me That I ought not to let you just walk on me And I'm sure he meant well Yeah, but when our talk was through I, I, I said brother if you only knew You'd wish that you were in my shoes You just keep on usin' me Until you use me up Until you use me up Ah-huh, sometimes It's true you really do abuse me Ah, you get me crowd of high class people And then you act real rude to me Ah-huh, but oh, baby, baby, baby, baby When you love me I can't get enough Ah-huh and I wanna spread the news That it feels this good gettin' used Oh, you just keep on usin' me Until you use me up Ah, until you use me up Talkin' 'bout you usin' people It all depends on what you do It ain't too bad the way you're usin' me 'Cause I sure am usin' you to do the things that you do Ah-huh, to do the things that you do
I used to listen to the whole concert (wasn't uploaded by the BBC), but it seems that it was put down. I wonder if they still keep the full recording somewhere...
Looks like he’s playing a Martin D-35 (the opening shot shows the inside of the guitar. you can see it’s a 3-piece back, only used in D-35’s at the time). Nothing like a Martin guitar, I have a D-41 myself and it’s the only acoustic I’ll ever need (although there might be others I want in the future….and will buy💯👍🤦♂️😂)
Definitely one of those rare cases where an already-terrific song is lifted to new heights when performed live. This version needs to be on spotify
This recording is a treasure, thank to musicians and crew!
It's so sad that Bill is no longer Withers.
Everyone in the session killed it.
Easily.
Best version of this absolute banger
BOOM...
I still prefer the studio mix, but this is still nice.
Correct opinion
Bill could have had any drummer he wanted, he chose the human metronome that is smiling James Gadson; licks, groove and dynamics I can only dream of.
stylish line up here
Gadsons garage!!
Haha that drummer dude looks so chill and laid back Just smiling away Love it Badazzzz
Like all true geniuses, Gadson is as good a human as he is a drummer. We are lucky to have him.
Gadson is a funktronome!
Hahahaha I love how the drummer flashes his grill everytime the camera is on him. Can't let all the I C E go to waste!!!!!
😂😁😉🤘🤘
🤣🤣😂🤣
JAMES GADSON!!
😁😁😁😁
One of the best singer songwriters of all time.

The Godfather of funk in my opinion hats off Mr Withers
His voice is pure gold.
Literally the coolest song ever, swagger off the charts with that guitar and that snare, piping hot
Gadson just kills this. What a lick
That drummer is so happy
🤣😄
Cos he's in the pocket!
If I could lay down a groove like that I'd be happy too.
Love the performance of Aint No Sunshine from this Old Grey Whistle Test session, happy to see more from the same set. Incredible performance. RIP Bill Withers

It’s always just so refreshing and inspiring to be reminded of how great music can really move the soul, rest easy Bill Withers!
Bruh the subtle guitar licks are the icing on the cake

Everything about this video is absolutely perfect. Thanks to the BBC for making this available in high quality!
I love to hear real artist live. Especially that good old soul music, I can feel it so much that I can damn near touch it.
Tight tight !!! RIP Brother Bill. 💖 Fabulous musicians!!
This songs set the mood many evenings in my youth. The lyrics eluded me till recently.
Country ass soul on lead guitar... Bernarce kills it ...& James Gadson !!

Yeah that guitar is 🔥. My band is covering this and I sent my guitar player this version. It's gotta be this version

R.I.P to an absolute legend ❤️
Greatest songwriter/ singer to come out of the great state of West Virginia.
Amazing version, Incredible Song.....
Agreed. I really like it slowed down like this.
Live, tight, amazing version of an amazing tune.
Timeless nuff said
The groove is deeeeeeep
Incredible.
Amazing Amazing Amazing Amazing
Do the thang you do
Better sound than a lot of recent live sessions 🤔
My friends
Feel it's their appointed duty
They keep tryin' to tell me
All you want to do is use me
Ah-huh, but my answer (Ah-huh)
Yeah to all that use me stuff
I, I, I, I
Yes, I wanna spread the news
That if it feels this good gettin' used
Oh, you just keep on usin' me
Until you use me up
Until you use me up
My brother
Sit me right down and he talked to me
He told me
That I ought not to let you just walk on me
And I'm sure he meant well
Yeah, but when our talk was through
I, I, I said brother if you only knew
You'd wish that you were in my shoes
You just keep on usin' me
Until you use me up
Until you use me up
Ah-huh, sometimes
It's true you really do abuse me
Ah, you get me crowd of high class people
And then you act real rude to me
Ah-huh, but oh, baby, baby, baby, baby
When you love me I can't get enough
Ah-huh and I wanna spread the news
That it feels this good gettin' used
Oh, you just keep on usin' me
Until you use me up
Ah, until you use me up
Talkin' 'bout you usin' people
It all depends on what you do
It ain't too bad the way you're usin' me
'Cause I sure am usin' you to do the things that you do
Ah-huh, to do the things that you do
Brilliant!!!
What a Gift he was...
Bill! Too cool for school!
Bro be straight grinding diamonds out
Acidly smooth 👍😎

SI QUERES ESCUCHARE A LA BBC, AUNQUE QUIERAS QUE LO HAGAMOS DE NOCHE
Pretty sure this is from the OGWT
Who is the electric guitar player on this session? His little fillers are so tasty.
👍🙂..
It pisses me off that everyone doesn't know this song exist
I could have wrote this song years ago, before I heard it. A mess up us have, right?
Where can i find this whole set? Whats the name of the venue and year? I found this full set on YT years ago, but it's been deleted.
BBC 1973 I believe
From a TV programme called the “Old Grey Whistle Test” on the BBC, hosted by ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris.
@@gr00veh0lmes Thank you so much! Do you have the whole show or where can I find it?
Drummer way too ICEY on the sticks
Canelita fina
Is that Bass line on a Clavinet? Sounds similar to Superstition by Stevie Wonder.
And she just used me......
What year???
'73
Uh, off the chart tight was this group
Back when homo sapiens used to make music....
