    Yeah you say all those things about how other religions talk about their own ideas about eternal happiness............... even though you think that all of them are going to hell because they are not Christians..

    When you suffer is the time you must trust in Jesus the most.

  • @DangerousTalk

    Umm, you can deal with suffering NOW because this world is all there is. People don't need help dealing with suffering in the next life, they need help right NOW. Religion ignores suffering now in exchange for some magical cure in an imagined afterlife. No thanks.

    So, God created suffering and evil, and then gave us Christianity so he could make suffering and evil exist forever by burning most people in Hell forever, huh?

    There should be mention here of the truth that God submitted himself to the evil and loss and sin and injustice of this world on the cross.

      Don't buy his book without also reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins.

      Indeed, isn't that what Keller is displaying? A broad knowledge of every opposing belief? Escape The Hold, I'm a Christian and I'd echo JoeOnWoW, but for different reasons, of course. Dawkins is a fool who's becoming ostracized by his fellow atheistic scholars for his foolishness. Do like JoeOnWoW says and read both books and you'll easily find integrity of scholarship in one and not the other.

      I'm sorry but a atheist stooping that low to knock out someone's religion for the fun of it is the biggest ass hole of them all.

    Thank you for all that you do! I feel clarity watching these videos. I struggle with understanding The Lord's decisions because he sometimes allows schools full of children to burn to the ground and consume the little humans inside alive. But I know that he is still good and merciful.

  • @IsabellaYBella

    I wish he was more motivating in his speech. Christianity provides you with love, it makes you feel important and valued by God because you're not a servant, like in other religions, you're a child, you belong to the family of God and family will always be there for you in time of suffering. So, in Christianity not only you have hope in eternal life through Jesus but you also have hope through this life, Jesus is always there for you and you can see his work being done in this life, you don't need to wait until you move on to the eternal life. He strengthen you whenever you ask him for strength and gives you hope to keep going and prospering in this life to do well and gain the bless of eternal life.

    I watched this video twice just to make sure I wasn't missing anything, but it sounds to me like Tim is arguing that Christianity help's us deal with evil and suffering through compensation, and that Christianity's validity is reinforced by comparison to other religions. As a follower of Christ, I don't think I agree with how this message came across, because to me Christ isn't the best way to live my life by comparison, it's the only way to live.

    • @TheClimaxWarrior
      @TheClimaxWarrior 10 років тому

      Christianity is Christ dipshit and Tim is not arguing just sharing the facts through the word of God.

    I've never been interested in hearing from Tim Keller's watered down version of Biblical principles so I even hesitate watching your videos with him in them. I attended a forum he did at Columbia University where he floundered with every question made. :( disappointing.

    Hmm... don't agree with this...
    Religion more often than not seems to postpone the answer and solution to the end of suffering. We are faced with third hand information at best,mostly in written form, then interpreted, which is why many like myself feels the stakes are quite high, and we'd like some proof before we are made into chess-pieces.
    A lot of the time, religion is presented like a used car... That is where religion fails for many... including myself.

    The Book of Job has always been my favorite book to read about evil and suffering of this world. Despite of all this good, bad, and the ugly I'm always thankful for God for the gift of life.

  • @anthonyvilla3475

    Tim just put into perspective all other religions and he said he believes that christianity has more to offer than other religions. Just because you're a christian doesn't mean you should be ignorant to all other religions out there. Tim pretty much said Christianity is better for you because of what Jesus can offer than what other religions offer.

    • @xAphenx
      @xAphenx 10 років тому

      Of course I'm not ignorant to other religions out there, I make a point of understanding different faiths that I encounter, especially Mormonism and Catholicism since both of these have a presence where I live. But Christianity isn't TRUE because Jesus holds more candy than Allah and the perverted Lord that Mormon's believe in; the religion is validated of it's own by the truth and the power of the cross, the resurrection, as well as the teachings of the Lord's prophets, Christ, and the Apostles.

    Modern western thought on suffering is really the same as its always been. Its awful, but if you survive it, things might get better. When you simplify religious thought, it has similar attitudes to atheism.

    • @Murri16
      @Murri16 10 років тому +2

      its not really the attitudes of the people who believe it man. Its more so working each of them to their logical conclusion... Ultimately christianity does bring hope... but atheism does not...

      I don't think that was his point at all. He was trying to articulate that all religions and cultures try to deal with the issue of suffering. He did not state that all their answers are equally valid, but rather that they all must answer the same questions. Make sense?

    But even if there is an afterlife, wouldn't it make sense for us to make the most of this life before we pass away? Besides, with all the other religions that exist, how can we be 100% sure that the afterlife we're promised actually exists? Christianity is no more legit than Muslim or any Pagan deism.
