About halfway through the video you mentioned special dice. I agree any proprietary dice that you have to buy specifically from say Fantasy Flight Games to play ONE of their Fantasy Flight Games is super duper ultra deluxe lame. On the other hand, while they are wacky, I don't mind DCC's odd dice. Because I can use them with whatever game. I adore the first edition of Feng Shui excepting one element. The d6-d6 mechanic. The better solution is and always was add 7 to all TNs in the system and just roll 2d6 + whatever instead of d6-d6 + whatever. Putting subtraction in a core resolution mechanic is purely Busch league. Not worse than multiplication, but subtraction is at least actually avoidable in every instance of core resolution (not modifiers to core resolution, mind you). I don't mind Fudge dice. I don't like anyone calling them Fate dice. Because they aren't Fate dice. Credit to Levi for using the proper nomenclature.
Oh of course there is, it's just buried underneath a LOT of slop. Blackacre is showing promise from this list if only due to the creator's dedication to it.
Builty by the Architects: Aren't assassins more like the _construction crew_ ? If anything the real architects are their shadowy clients. KarmaPunks: This is why I don't like cyberpunk settings with magic. Explaining _why_ magic is a thing now just makes the worldbuilding weird. Dawn RPG: "setting-agnostic" is a nice way to say "we couldn't bother with a default/example setting". Also a bit of a lie considering the book makes _very_ specific assumptions about the setting(s). Also it's very distracting that the opening chapter art comes with descriptions that describe the _chapter_ instead of the _art_
Lmao that was the dumbest reason to dismiss Fudge dice. It’s a d3 and no different than the 2-2-2 ratio of the d6. I’ll give you that on Genesys dice, but to dismiss all bespoke dice out of hand is beyond a little silly. Especially if you say it’s because you “like math” 😂
randomly to give you more sanderson fan input - some of the books are good, some are overhyped, but most of the new ones are super unedited and bloated.
I tried fast forwarding through this one... but I just can't find a single darn to give for "indie RPG authors" anymore. Everyone is writing something because barriers to entry are nonexistent, most of it is derivative at this point, and the MOST important factor of WHO to play with rather than WHAT is further enforced when you see the most successful gaming groups/ clubs happily playing games developed in the 80s and 90s rather than... whatever the new D20/ PbtA/ FATE/ SJW passion project is. *shrug* I like some of YOUR work, Notepad, and appreciate your continued poking around the dumpster. However, aside from a handful of your projects... *shrug*
I think "The Forge" already exists in spirit, but instead of a single forum it's hundreds of little Discords and ingroups that all deal with one another. Sometimes something the death of forums and its consequences etc etc
@@NotepadAnon yeah but their influence and audience are significantly diminished. I doubt that any of their material has anywhere near the effectiveness that Doctor Bat Penis' NGS theory ever had.
Instead of the $20 Bratty Toaster, you could have used the $10 Lesbian Werewolf Crimefighters game cover
I heard someone once say that right now is the golden age of ttrpgs - I find this hard to believe after watching this.
@@MultiKarmacharger Oh it is, somewhat, but gold is found buried under mountains of dirt, gravel, and stone.
Quantity has a quality of its own...
... not

4:19:40 - Why is there a literal sprite rip of Sol's Dragon Install from Guilty Gear XX?
Is there anything good that's come out in the last 3 years??

Gubat Banwa sounds good bro.
Its the nature of the beast that you need to clear dirt to get some diamonds

Better these guys post on itch than let their rpg sour grapes fester and turn into another Forge.

@@NotepadAnon yes but are all these tiny groups producing anything as radioactive as Dr Bat Penis' NGS theory?
