- New footage shows the moments that a Tesla flew through a red light in Pasadena early Saturday morning before slamming into a building in a crash that killed three people and injured three others. Nicole Comstock reports.
16 year old should be forced to drive a 4 cylinder gas powered compact baby car.. A tesla for a teenager? That car is faster than a Ferrari but doesn’t handle like one..
You should be forced to revisit every single incident you failed to accurately comprehend.
With a stick shift.
Coming from a person who has driven both.
Rediculous the parents gave the kid that vehicle. Gotta look stylish ?
The driver was 22
NOT ONLY 0 - 60 in three seconds….ALSO 80 mph to ZERO in 0.3 SECONDS!!!
Sez someone who has ever owned a Tesla or a Ferrari. SMH 😏
Play stupid games and you win stupid prizes
Looking back there were some moments I feared for my life as a teenage passenger. Never rode with those drivers again. Sad that some aren't so lucky.
When I was a teenager, I drove my car at 120 mph on a empty freeway at three in the morning. I never did it again but wanted to see how fast I could drive my Chevy Camaro. That is how dumb I was at around 18. I am super happy I survived some really stupid moments in my life. I feel for super bad for these young people and their families.
Same here.
@@jamiezenichi1017 on the freeway not on a side street running a red light. Unfortunately these newer cars make you feel much safer than the old ones I drove. when you did 100mph you felt every bit of it. now it is like ok I can even change lanes. until it is in the air.
@@Mikefngarage The Camaro I owned was a 1979 Camaro Berlinetta. It was almost new and it handled very well with Centerline rims and wide BF Goodrich tires. It rode very smoothly even at high speeds on a well maintained freeway. Still, I felt the speed and knew I would die if I crashed, so I only did it one time. Bu yeah, speeding on a regular street is a riskier proposition.
The car looks like It went back in time….
Nooooooooooooooooo
I thought the same
88 mph?
Intrdementional ..... travel for sure
Great Scotts...
Are we supposed to feel bad?
Dude exactly what I was thinking nobody forced them to drive like Reckless idiots not wear seatbelts! And drink and drive like reckless idiots! You live by the sword you die by the sword!
No, you can continue living life like a complete sociopath 👍
@@SonnyFriscoWhat's wrong with sociopaths, you racist?
Nope.
Sad. But why called a 22 yr old driver a kid? Oh I almost forgot about the script.
Good question
To some folks 22 is a kid.
He had the mental capacity of a kid.
The human brain does not fully mature until age 26. A 22 year old, though a legal adult, is psychologically a late adolescent and males in particular still exhibit a lot of risk taking behavior that they may or may not mature out of. Driving under the influence and at that speed and without restraints however is inexcusable.
RIP.
What parent lets their kid drive a Tesla? A car with too much power and crap brakes and suspension
The white flash was the transformer blowing out when the power pole was hit.
if these cars have an auto pilot mode there should be a parent mode so when the kid drives they can program it to not go above 40 mph
There is, it just has to be enabled and can only be disabled with a passcode. It can even be enabled/disabled remotely too
It does. This is complete neglect.
He was 22.
the parent mode is to NOT give them such a machine dork. holy cow the public schools did it's job.
You can put a Tesla in Valet mode and select the maximum speed to be as low as 50 mph.
Might be able to cheat tests, cheat rules, and cheat taxes... But, you can't cheat death. RIP.
Why? There were people in the car old enough to know better, it makes no sense to risk your lives driving recklessly

This is simply a case of an inexperienced driver in too much car for them.
They said there was a curve in the road, the speed limit is for safety on the road your driving. You can't go 90 on a 35 mph rd...your going to crash
like it was a dragster.
this is simply being simple.
driving too fast isn't complicated.
The parents could've set the max speed to cap at 85mph or so but the driver being 22, that's not a kid anymore
Should any private vehicle be able to travel any faster than 80 mph?
This is simply a case of a stupid kid doing stupid things. Had nothing to do with inexperience.

So sad for the people in the car that had no control over the drivers actions.
You said the words right out of my mouth. What is wrong with anyone being a passenger not saying slow the fck down, I don't want to die because of you being a complete idiot.
Who cares if they think I'm a wuss. Scream loudly ,"stop the car, I'm done, let me out".
It's truly unbelievable someone with 5 people in his car and he drives like that.
Someone in that car could have said slow down. it's all fun and games until this happens
We're all one decision away from disaster
@msimm8612 how do you know they didn't?
Thats why parents dont buy vehicles for their kids. Especially vehicles with 3x the torque of any automobile and self driving lies associated with multiple fatality accidents. Cars that somehow skirt all NHTSA safety regulations.
Full Self Driving software would have totally not allowed that accident to have occurred. I use that application in my car daily and I sometimes disengage it, because it drives to safely. Makes full stops at signals, drives so cautiously other drivers get annoyed at me.
You need to experience it before you put blame on software that will save thousands of lives once it’s perfected. But it’s 95% there already. Again, if that software was enabled, the accident would never have happened. That would be totally impossible. Go sign up for a tesl drive at the Pasadena showroom, you will be amazed. You don’t have to buy a car. I know your answer already. No one will get me into that death trap. A typical close minded response that I would anticipate from your lack of knowledge on Tesla vehicles. 😢
Plot twist: That was the WRONG clock tower.
How do you squeeze 6 people into a Tesla?! Could that have something to do with not having control of the vehicle?!
Models X and Y have options for 7 seats
When I was a teen, we squeezed 6 people into a subcompact 2 door Honda Civic...painful. You can fit 5 in a Model 3. I suspect that there was probably at least one girl in the car who was sitting in the lap of some guy. Both were likely killed due to lack of a seatbelt. The driver would be fairly isolated unless one passenger was sitting on the center console.
Four squeezed in the back seat, but they can't be fat. I've seen two people on the front passenger side, and it wasn't a baby in someone's lap. That might not be legal, but it doesn't stop people.
I have a disrespectful question but I must ask anyways. Were the three that died the three not wearing seatbelts? Or did a belted passenger die? Also this being a tesla, there could be footage first party footage from the crash.
Yours is one of the few actual respectful comments here. You asked a good question and brought up a good point! ☮️
I heard that the three in the back seat who were thrown out and killed were not wearing seat belts. This is just something I heard so I can’t confirm.
Pretty safe bet that if three out of six weren't wearing seatbelts, the three that died weren't wearing seatbelts. Teslas are super safe cars unless you disable the safety devices. I'm guessing w/ 6 people crammed into the car, at least one person was sitting in the lap of another. Bet when more details come out, we'll find that at least one girl died.
And they want to drive cars in the sky.🤔What could go wrong there?
I know it would never happen but there’s a part of me that wishes to see the chaos it would bring.
It would probably work if all liberals and women were banned from using them
They would have to be strictly on autopilot for that to be feasible.
No. In the future everyone is broke and can't afford much except a small percentage of Jewish folks who are well educated

Nope. Just HILARIOUS!!!
Well, as you know, if you buy a Tesla it comes with a special entitlement package. I say if parents bought that car for a kid, they should go to prison.
hate is food for cancer
The type of car affects nothing. If he drove an even faster vehicle with no seatbelt use, the death toll probably would have been worse.
I don't feel sorry for the driver. He willingly put his life, and the passengers lives in danger. My condolences to all of their families.
I feel sorry that he isn't going to have the opportunity to spend his rest of his life behind bars where he belongs. Instead he will be in Hell if there is one.
My question is how did it take three peoples lives? That is really not very common any more. Oh six occupants. I see now. Way to much car, way to little experience, way to little maturity.
Obviously more than double the speed limit. Maybe triple. Just look at all the damage to buildings and the like. On another station a reporter was interviewing a nearby resident. They were saying the need for a traffic light because of speeding cars. The driver ran a red light. No matter how many traffic lights there are, it can't stop people from driving like maniacs at 100 mph.
Stop. Speeding.
It's dumb.
Also, maybe it's about time we raise the age requirement for driving to 25.
Young people are idiots.
Love how the media calls out Tesla name but any other brand and the headline would read "car flies through red light"..
It's all about those clicks, baby. 👍
Plus, they probably have gas powered car sponsors that are happy to see these kind of stories where Tesla and deaths are "associated".
Tesla drivers are often reckless..this will be more and more common
Hoprfully
@@kcufelgoog3225 you say that, until someone you care about is hurt.

A very biased statement. Reckless drivers are reckless no matter what they drive. Teslas’ just happens to be fast cars.
Bmw and benz drivers hold that title
If a 22 year old is hanging out with high school kids, something is really wrong. And, yeah. Don't think any passenger cars have 6 seatbelts.
I thought the same thing.
Why are parents letting their high schoolers hang out with 20 somethings late at night 🌙.

No 22 year old is going to be driving around my high schooler late at night...

Bet if this was a Toyota, they never would have mentioned the brand of car.
He was an Eagle Scout. Now he is an Angel Scout!
Imagine if cars were responsible for limiting themselves, since drivers obviously cannot
you can't limit acceleration because there are situations when you need the power (i.e., in between 2 large trucks on a freeway)
It’s coming to California soon. They will be implementing a device to make your car not go over 10 miles per speed limit . Mandatory. All because people can’t drive responsible
In bc Canada teenagers are only allowed one person in their vehicle unless it's a family member
In Australia, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a family member or not. Probation licensed drivers are only allowed one passenger in total. Until they come off their probationary license.
Smh listen carefully and slow it down and maybe you'd comprehend
It was the fricking monitor. Kid could not watch the touchscreen, navigate the mind bogglingness of menus, party harty, and drive safely. Those monitors make new cars and their drivers absolute MENACES to everyone else, and apparently, power poles and innocent buildings that do nothing wrong but exist. I see commenters expressing condolences, good.
(imo) Driving tests should be WAY more stringent. Knowing how to drive a manual transmission, understanding basic mechanics (which could save your life knowing what is going wrong before it's too late) ...
... not enough people truly respect the amount of damage a vehicle can do and how fast it can do it....
That's what they get for thinking they know everything.
tesla has video of this whole accident. Do you know how many cameras are on a tesla?
4 cameras.
And Tesla will know how fast the car was going.
Were they listening to Huey Lewis?
Got to get back in time. I doubt the ones that gave you a thumbs up made that Association. I'm quicker than most that's because I'm 62 I know a hell of a lot more😂
Why are we selling overpowered vehicles that should be on a race track, to the public?
Smart car doesn’t mean smart driver. They all knew better but they said “ F it” and got killed oh well.
