I didn't know you could literally just buy out an entire nation like that. Now THAT's a way to play. I assume that's only possible in the early game because basically nobody has tons of wealth yet.
I don't think the AI thinks in terms of "how much money is this compared to what I have", that's usually not how bots work. It might be though that it's way cheaper in the early game because the cities are barely developed and there's barely any garrisons in them, leading the AI to think they're nigh useless because it doesn't calculate in risk management and potential.
The ai still sells to you for the exact same price on very hard, you just have less money. And yes, the autoresolves are artificially harder on higher difficulties, but I’m just trying to go as fast as possible :)
Playing on iOS, I was hoping they would have fixed this diplomacy exploit. However, I am now the proud owner of the majority of the Seleucid Empire. Will try to do this as Seleucids - interesting to see if can pull it off before being absolutely bodied as imagine diplomacy doesn’t work after everyone declares war on you.
Some of the more obscure factions, like Armenia and Thrace, weren’t intended to be played by the player, so the devs didn’t bother to write campaign descriptions for them. But if you edit the “desc_strat” file that determines playable factions, you can play them and they have functioning completable campaigns. It’s a trick that’s been around since the game came out, and it doesn’t change the game at all besides letting you play other factions so it’s completely allowed :)
I am offering regular tribute of 10099 denarii for 19 turns, so I am promising a a lot of money in the future for their land now, but then I betray them and don’t have to pay anything. It works with almost every faction, there are just some conditions.
Seleucids: "This has been the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals... maybe ever."
Doctor: you have 1 minute left till you die
Total war fans:
that thumbnail is incredible
Wow, Armenia must be full of beautiful women to attract so many suitable husbands!
Kevmeister: Yes, very inconvenient.

Through the power of broken diplomacy
@@kevmeister4194 oh
Music is too accurate for this campaign.
How that diplomacy works?
You type 10099 denarii and they give all their cities?
I've been playing almost 20 years and this is news to me...

All I care about is speed :)
