They brung aqueducts, roads, sanitation, sewer systems, huge importing and exporting, coinage.. they made countries rich, the failures lie in internal corruption from shitty emperors and regents through greed, as well as barbarian invasions on the regular.
You've beaten RTW as Scipii in 6:30 at this point i would have been ordering my hastati to climb the walls of Syracuse and that only if i played fast lol
Diplomats are so nutty in R:TW, this was a fun watch. Nothing like getting handed over a city through a diplomatic deal and hearing your guy go ROME HAS CONQUERED.
This is just brilliant. I had always thought that the Scipii would be best for a "diplomacy cheese" speedrun, because they aren't hamstrung by other factions' contempt i.e. if you play as Julii, Gaul will never give you their territories no matter how much you offer, and likewise the Greeks will play hardball if you're the Brutii. Way to make it reality! I can only imagine the amount of research and testing that went into this!
Thanks, really appreciate everything you’ve said! You’re right on the nose with the Julii (they can’t get ever get away with buying off all of Gaul), but I think the Brutii could potentially do alright as well! Greece is cheap and easy to buy despite hating Brutii and Scipii. I’m not sure exactly why that is. It took a lot of trial and error, but it was satisfying in that it almost feels like a culmination of many different short campaign strategies!
Better yet, if you DEMAND regular tribute of 3000 denarii for 99999 turns, they will give you all their regions bar their capital. This is because the deal is so negative the game reads it as a very positive deal... ahhh integer overflow!
One of the best games ever!!! so many options from battling, building and investing, diplomatically all in all a straight classic. And I never have seen anyone personally use this trick before buts it is genius 😂
Dude this is so impressive. I’m playing my first campaign play through and had no idea you can just agree to tributes and then cancel them 😂 do factions wage war on you after you do this?
They’re very likely to attack after you’ve bought all their cities and gone back on your tribute deal 😂 That’s why I wait as long as possible to make the deals, since you really need to win within the next turn or so or everything goes to hell
@@kevmeister4194 Ahh gotcha. I just got 28,000 from the Brutii by saying I’d pay them back and then I attacked Rome and magically all my debts are forgiven ;)

What this guy does is: Difficulty of the AI battle is on EASY (Means his troops have bonuses such as +4 attack bonus, therefore auto resolve rapes the ai) Before he agrees on diplomacy he uses a cheat “Force accept” meaning they will accept no matter what u offer. He gives them some money to fool the viewers that its actually working. This is a speed run but not on the hardest difficulty and he also cheats. I see no skill in this video and its sad to see people in the comments falling to such a trick.
Bro it’s not that serious You can literally pull off diplomacy like this with any faction, you would know if you ever tried 😬 And of course I’m playing on easy, do you know what a speedrun is? I’m surprised someone would go so far out of their way to be so negative, and I hope something changes in your life so you don’t feel you have to go around throwing baseless accusations on UA-cam…
If you offer up tribute over multiple turns the AI is a lot more likely to agree to these sorts of deals on Easy/Easy. This is a well known exploit. So much so that anyone that watches these should expect it.
I make a deal to buy their territories with money in the future, and then go to war with them so I don’t have to pay, or cancel the tribute manually. I do this for every faction except Spain, and actually pay them.
It's insane how the second punic war consisted of Carthago selling all of their regions and then loosing Carthage through autoresolve
Truly insane
That's more or less how the teutonic order lost to Poland
