I like this a lot. Would it be possible to easily add hinges to the top so it would flip up instead of taking the lid off? If you have another drawer, do another vid showing that please. Good job though.
Love this, I was going to find a footstoll to recover for my lounge room, but have to try this. Thanks for showing me how, great channel love your ideas. Joolsx
Just found your channel tonight...very kewl stuff! I was looking for ways to make my rusty fridge nice again and ended up here...new sub. I lalalove this ottoman Man. Lol. I now want power tools because of you. Much Aloha from Maui! ❤️🙏👍🌺
It was a fairly simple project, and I've been seeing several drawers pop up on Craigslist lately, so it should be easy enough to find one to try it out.
I'll have to check my area on Craigslist... people are posting drawers by themselves or are you meaning lots of dresser listings? Hopefully I'll find some local to me...
Yeah, I've seen just drawers being listed. Make sure to get one that's built well out of real wood. A cheap particle board one would probably fall apart if it was used for this.
MrDiyDork Ok awesome! Thank you for all your information! I'm definitely going to try my hand at this I binge-watched a bunch of your videos and I'm hooked! You have some great ideas and projects to do...
Hello! I like almost all your projects - they are so interesting and unique. I have a mid century chest for bedding, which I would like to transform into something more utilitarian. Maybe you can share your ideas? If possible, I will send a photo to you. Thanks in advance.
They were actually part of a child size table and stools I found online. The table had (4) 18" long hairpin legs, and the two stools each had (4) 9" long hairpins legs (the ones I used in this video.) The whole table set was only $60, so I bought two sets to make a bunch of projects with the legs. You can also find them on ebay, etsy, amazon, hairpin leg websites, and sometimes even on old tables on craigslist. I bought a set of (4) 19" long hairpins legs on Amazon a while back for about $65, so those little table sets I bought with 12 legs were a steal!
I actually grabbed these from a small kid sized table/stool set I bought, but you can find hairpin legs on Amazon, Ebay, Etsy, and there's even some hairpin leg sites out there too. I've also found some on old beat up tables listed on Craigslist (but it's easier to just buy new online).
I just use the standard bondo for the most part. I sometimes use the green bondo "hair" that has fiberglass strands in it if I need more support to the bondo (like smoothing out a big missing chunk on the edge of a drawer, etc.)
if I may ask, why did you paint the legs white first? also is there a reason you didn't do regular paint only spray? I'm wanting to do something like this to an old hope chest that the bottom fell off on.
mim l It is not white paint on the legs it is primer so the paint will stick to the metal legs. And you can use regular paint but then you might get brush strokes. Spray paint is just easier and faster in my past experience.
You probably already know this, but maybe some of your viewers don't: If you spray white over the tape line first it will seal the edge and the dark blue won't bleed under the tape.
Yep great tip. I should have done that, but I noticed that my white rustoleum was taking forever to dry, and I didn't have time to wait for it. But usually, I'd spray a light coat along the tape to seal it in.
You're very talented, you turn everything you touch into a piece of art!!!
Looks very 60s style. Love it!
That would look beautiful in a bedroom!
one of the best makerover diyers on youtube!!!!!
I might use a piece of foam with the batting. It looks great; fabric is good choice and design of front adds to the total effect.
Great idea, so unique.Multi functional. Thxs for sharing.
Very clever Mr.DiyDork. I think this is my favorite yet, except the fridge project was so cool. Thanks.
Great project! I just found you and a dresser drawer on the side of the road!
Fabulous , this has encouraged me to keep upcycling items. Cant wait to try this one. thanks for the inspiration . Ontario,Canada

Sure you could. I considered making mine that way, but went with the simple lift off top instead.
I did this but used a piano hinge to secure the top. I like the way u did the top
Super cute!! I love it!
omg just beautiful 😍
Very nice. Thank you for sharing.
Nice work
Could you put brackets on it so it can just lift up instead of lifting off?
I considered using a hinge, but decided to keep it simple with the lift off top.
Great idea, and thanks for the video
glad you liked it!
Very cool! Thanks very much!👏👏

Very very nice
Beautiful idea
thanks!
Great build! Did you consider hinging the top, not sure if it would have worked or not, just curious.
I thought about doing that, but decided to keep it simple with the lift off top.
good job man!! greetings from México🇭🇺
Thanks! Greetings from Missouri.

Where can one get the hair pin legs. At the big box stores or did you offer them? Those would be great for some projects I have.

I just loveeee it!

Look on Ebay, Etsy, Amazon, and there's even some hairpin leg websites. I got these off a small children's table set I bought online.
MrDiyDork okay, thanks :))

Yep, I think I still have another set too. lol
+MrDiyDork I picked up some from Ikea, but I posted a link below for those who might be looking. Amazon has a pretty good selection.
