No one could have replaced Al Pacino in The Godfather! He was phenomenal in the role. Without him, the movie would never have done as good. That is my opinion.
@johndor8772 Yep, Serpico was def good & Al was great in his earlier, hungry, years of his career but have you seen "Scent of a Woman"? WOW. Amazing role & portrayal of his character, retired military Sgt.Slade. I LOVE PACINO. I loved his lite, comical bits of dialogue as Tony Montana in Scarface w/ Michelle Pfeiffer (a truly beautiful woman). One thing I don't like tho is his booming yell in most roles. I overlook it tho bc I value him so much , more so than his buddy DeNiro.RDiN also was better in his younger, hungry acting days but currently , Nah, uh uh. I don't care for him personally but that's just me. I think one of DiN's best roles was Johnny Boy in Mean Streets. Meanwhile, I wish Al would lose the 29 yr old goldigger. It's said she's worth $3M of her own $$ but news media has had her linked w/no less than 4 millionaires/billionaires since she was in her early 20s & she's only 29 now. Im guessing she was groomed by parents , guessing the American mother, to follow the money trail. Sorry for the rant ; thanks. 😊😊😊😊
Coincidently, Pacino's first name is Alfredo. In the Godfather, his first brother is "Fredo", and his second brother is "Sonny", the nickname his early friends gave him.
@@DennysFrancisco: According to Wiki his maternal grandparents were from Corleone and he lived with them for a while. It doesn't say where his mother was born. But your info is an added interesting coincidence.
I first experienced Mr. Pacino's AMAZING talent in "Dog Day Afternoon." He is NOT your "run of the mill player." He is a true thespian. When I watch him "acting" on screen I do not see an actor reciting his lines. I see a 3 Dimensional, fully fleshed out "real person." He might be a desperate young bank robber with a transexual lover, an Attorney for the Devil or the heart-broken neighborhood locksmith. Whatever the role, he plays a character as real to me as my nextdoor neighbor or the man I meet in my checkout line at Target. God bless Al Pacino! He deserves ALL good things.
In the film dog Day afternoon There was a an actor who played a small role in the film. His name was Luciano Melani. His family was from Tuscany. He became close friends Al Pacino during the filming. Luciano was a family friend a good man and a good actor. Unfortunately he passed away about 10 years ago. ❤😊
AL PACINO GREAT ACTOR LOVED HIM AS MICHAEL IN THE GODFATHER. I HAVE THE GOD FATHER BOOK 📕 SIGNED BY FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA. AL IS AWESOME ☝️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The ACCOUNT “” NO IT WAS A FRIEND OF FRANCIS THAT GOT ME THE BOOK 📕 SIGNED BY FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA DEF LONG AGO ITS WITH ALL MY IMPORTANT THINGS TY FOR YOUR COMMENT
His talent and resolve would have eventually found a project that would have brought him stardom like it had with The Godfather, but the success of that film definitely opened alot of doors. Ohh, did I forget to mention...you couldn't take your eyes off of him...that's what we call charisma and the "X" FACTOR.
I could easily see him in all the roles he declined. Here's something interesting. We know that his name was Michael Corleone in "The Godfather". Pacino once said that his family came from Corleone, Italy.
Great actor beautiful personality and I fell in love with him after I saw the Godfather Scarface and Frankie and Johnny. Love him from first sight 😁🇮🇹♥️
Among Al's best work is The Merchant of Venice where he plays Shylock. Incredible performance by an incredible performer. Thank you Al for your great body of work..
@davemaccarter64 : Was "Merchant" performed on B'way or done as a movie? I ask bc I don't recall it as a movie but quite a few yrs bk Al had done some work in theatre. Am just wondering. I'd watch him in anything. Loved him in Scent of a Woman. He was scary good (lol), going thru so many diff emotions, especially his surprise appearance to advocate for the college kid in the college's kangaroo court as a "Baird" man. Loved it when he sniped at the college Pres., (James Rebhorn) : " No, I'm not thru, I'm just getting started " . 😊
@davemaccarter64 Yes the “Merchant of Venice” was a movie made for TV, one of the pay channels, can!t remember now which one. He loved Shakespeare,he also made a part documentary about “Richard the III-rd” ,and he also performed in it, amazing work. I suppose his destiny was to make movies, instead of theatre, also I suppose the money was much better. Indeed he is a legend,I also loved “Scent of a Woman” and he got the Oscar for it. But I love him in everything 😊
I have been told he isn't a nice boyfriend. I have been told he wasn't nice to Beverly D'Angelo because she couldn't give him children. She went thru a lot to give him those twins. And after that there were court battles and he refused to pay child support. So many more stories but I 💕 him as an Actor not as a boyfriend ☺️
Carletos way great film 10/10👍👍👍but through it all hes my favourite actor as well as robert de niro.gteat actors of the time and still are.pity they dont have actors like them anymore.
Al is the man scarface was absolutely so real he woke up American public to the down fall of a major drug dealer who no matter what you always have to take orders from above intense acting
The reason that was the case is because Pacino didn't want 2 games coming out in the same year with both games having his likeness in it as different characters and since the godfather could be done with another actor Scarface you can't because the movie and game revolve around his character Pacino's look is so iconic and the game wouldn't be excepted as well by the fans if Scarface looked like Michael Corleone in the godfather game I didn't particularly like Michael in the godfather game and also would've liked to have a Michael with Pacino's likeness it still never took away from the game if you change Scarface's likeness to something else it would take too much authenticity away from the game. Just like Pacino himself knew Scarface is his biggest role. And till this day i recently got the Scarface game again And I'm looking to get Both of the Godfather games aswell.
YOU GOT THIS WRONG! It wasn't South African actress, Charlize Theron in "The Devil's Advocate," it was Danish actress, Connie Nielsen. A common mistake when both are foreign and not American
Every actor can have an opportunity to a role that makes or breaks him. Scarface was that kind of a role for Al Pacino and it did made him, without it he would be just another great actor and that it and not The Actor that he turned over to be, and that spin of his own destiny is one of the greatest feat one can ever do.
Yes I did like this video very much you weren't a clickbait and you told me so many things I didn't know but how did he get so many Globes and not Oscars that's beyond me I don't understand it Jennifer Hudson made one movie singing it in a group not anything like the acting that Al Pacino does and she got best supporting role Oscar can you explain this to me unless he was always nominated for best actor and not supporting that could be a reason but I just never understood her getting an Oscar not fair
Dont remain in the dark sweetie, open your eyes : politics (Oscars, etc awards that is) & race play into Hollyweird's decisions. There's no reasonable, intelligent explanation for WHY she got the Oscar & not Al Pacino. He's been around & acting longer than she's been alive. You're right, it's not fair.
1:00 "The South Bronx is not considered safe even now, and even less so back then", My grandparents and father lived there in the '30s and you're wrong. It was never great, but you definitely can't compare the crime level of the '30s to '50s with that of the '70s (it's worst era) or even today. The crimes were different; back then it was mostly the mob and the population was mostly Jewish 17:00 "The Americans" not sure where they got this title from; they mean Glengarry Glen Ross. All I can think of is sometimes they give films different titles in foreign countries...or more likely they made a computer generated error and didn't bother to correct it. 20:09 "Robert Ratford"...now we know this is computer generated; sad.
His work has given much joyful entertainment and brain food to a motley banal industry, every penny he earns he deserved. Iove how many just assume all actors and their success is considered overpaid and unearned handed to them on a golden platter at 18. Yeah right. He's not the best actor, he is each person;) becoming them completely.
I didn’t know he made so many movies . He worked hard ,& deserves all he has . He’s a GREAT actor .
No one could have replaced Al Pacino in The Godfather! He was phenomenal in the role. Without him, the movie would never have done as good. That is my opinion.
the man is a legend and always will be we love his work. long may he continue 👏👏👏👏.
Such a legend. The man dedicated his life to his craft.
On any given Sunday he could have been awarded a Oscar
The best actor ever stepped into Hollywood. Go Big Al!!!!
He is a class act, no single movie or role defines him!
I think Serpico does

In my opinion, his best performances were in Dog Day Afternoon and Scarface. You can see he brings the heart and souls of the characters to life.
A Top Notch Stellar Actor Par Excellence...AL PACINO is God's gift to the world of cinema !!!

His name in Dog Day Afternoon is also Sonny; which also stars John Cazale - the actor of Fredo
Great artist! A great philosopher and a great master of his craft.
One of my all time favorite actors!!
Fine actor. I Favor stars that are more humble and giving . Stars that don't forget those in need. I think that truly makes an actor a star 🌟 .
