@TheProPilot100 the blue handle is the RPM lever, it is connected to the prop governor located on the engine. the governor modulates oil pressure to the prop to change the blade pitch. It tries to maintain a constant prop speed (hence those are called "Constant Speed Props") the prop feathering is accomplished by moving that lever to the full aft position. To reverse thrust (if the aircraft can) the throttle is moved to idle, and then further back for reverse thrust. hope that answers it!
@TheProPilot100 The blue handle controls the pitch of the prop. This 208 grand caravan has an adjustable prop. When the blue handle is all the way up like in the video, the prop is feathered down to take a smaller bite of air, thus it rotates faster and can achieve more thrust. When all the way down its feathered up and takes a bigger bite of air. The handle is normally kept up for takeoff, climb, and landing, and down (to some extent) for cruising.
@TheProPilot100 It controls the RPM of the propeller. With a variable pitch propeller, the power of the gas turbine (controlled by the throttle) and the propeller RPM can be controlled independently (within limits).
@TheProPilot100 The blue lever on the throttle quadrant is used to control the pitch of the propeller. Reverse thrust is enabled by bringing back the throttle fully, past low idle position.
@Tom Pax, it's called an electric gyro. Probably for the turn co-ordinator, electric gyros start spooling as soon as electrical power is brought to the a/c
Where were the range marks on the engine gauges? Or, did I just miss them (from the camera's angle). Love those "steam gauges"; nothing like a good old Autosyn Synchro style indicator! Nice video. Thanks, N-6395T
The sound's frikin awesome. Can somebody tell me what is that sound that is audible a little after he turns on the battery, but before engaging the starter? Something's spooling up already even before starting the engine??
idk if anyone noticed, but although the plane looks great all together and I really want to own one, doesnt it strike anybody that the cockpit looks super uncomfortable? Maybe its just not meant for short people like me :(
prop unfeathered bijs startup? ik dacht dat ik dacht dat niet mocht verschoven worden als de engine stil staat? en bij shut down moet hij feathered staan? verklaring?
@TheProPilot100 it controls prop pitch an feather so if i push it forward it will increase rpm an intake an pull it backward it will reduce rpm an take in less air i fly the c208 in sim for caribsky
as far i now first the electric starter then ignitor then fuel then starter off then igniter off of then generator on then standby power on then avionics power on then aux pump on . the aux pump is for when taking of or landing or manuevers. well , the caravan procedure is diferent then other turbo props i see.
@nocalsteve You're right , I fly often the Caravan , and on a runway of 800 m we put 20° . And an other thing , It's not nessecery to check your instruments when the battery is off --'
@skydive911 Sorry maar je hebt niet gelijk. Bij sd feathered klopt maar voor su moet ie weer naar voren. Je bent in de war met reverse. Die mag niet gebruikt worden bij engine stil. Groetjes.
I thought a Grand Caravan was a Dodge Of course, I also thought a Citation was a Chevy. Shows you what I know, doesn't it? Aren't you glad I'm not a pilot?
hé starts the plane with the generator switch on , mm wierd.seem like the electric started has a long life to live , olso setting the aux fuel pump to on while the fuel leveler is on cut. seem like the pump is going to have a long life. and setting the fuel leveler on 100 percent on takeoff , wow that jet engine has to swalow it. but then after take off hé lowers the throttle and the prop pitch . i realy dont understand.
@TheProPilot100 yes. the blue handle works the pitch of the propeller blades and can, if needed, feather the prop.
@deludodegruiter The blue prop lever changes the pitch of the propeller blades. When the lever is down the blades are feathered. :)
Nice VFR flying, captain!
IT´S A GREAT VÍDEO....GRETTIGNS FROM ECUADOR!!!!

Nice footage !!! Sounds great
@4crevis The panel left facing up has the bat,avionics,ign,starter,generator,st pwr and fuel boost switchers.

Good pilot, great startup the Ng was on spot at idle too!
Such an amazing video on an amazing plane, once I have my PPL I would love to own one of these, but even used they are on the expensive side.
@tinyman12323 Yes he was moving the trim with a button on the yoke. It's really awesome to have one of those too :)
@TheProPilot100 exactly this, the blue handle is the propeller rpm control, and it also feathers the propeller if pulled fully back
what does the blue handdle do is it like feather prop?
Nice Startup Video👍😎
Thanks!

Beautiful plane eh !
I like how he counts the gauges at the beginning of the video. "3......4....5.....6....Yep they're all here. HA HA!
thanks bernardfreirez greatings from holland!
@TheProPilot100....it's called the propeller control lever, it controls the RPM through the angle of the propeller.
Hij is mooi... Enkel een erretje teveel in de sleephut.
idk if anyone noticed, but although the plane looks great all together and I really want to own one, doesnt it strike anybody that the cockpit looks super uncomfortable? Maybe its just not meant for short people like me :(
@TheProPilot100 usually its prop pitch which controls how much air the prop pushes so it also feathers them
That just sounds awesome
Did you move that trim wheel with a controll on your yoke?
@TheProPilot100 It is the prop feather actually, it adjusts the blade angle on the prop....
the prop governor changes the angle of the blades, not the blue handle
I love the C208! So wanna fly with it in reallife and on the copilots side. Where had the vid been taken?
nice filmpje is dit vanaf rotterdam?? of zie ik het nou helemaal verkeerd:)
nice filmpje is dit vanaf rotterdam??
@chair5432 Thank you chair, i was the pilot in this nice clip made by Ludo.
As in? More weight less flaps? More flaps? Runway length is relavant as well as airport height I guess?
prop unfeathered bijs startup? ik dacht dat ik dacht dat niet mocht verschoven worden als de engine stil staat? en bij shut down moet hij feathered staan? verklaring?

the aux pump is for when taking of or landing or manuevers.
well , the caravan procedure is diferent then other turbo props i see.
@TheProPilot100 yeap. between throttle and fuel mix is prop control/mix :)
@TheProPilot100 Its the prop pitch setting knob.
@nocalsteve You're right , I fly often the Caravan , and on a runway of 800 m we put 20° . And an other thing , It's not nessecery to check your instruments when the battery is off --'
Maybe he was just making sure they weren't giving any indications with the master off
@TheProPilot100 it is to change the angle of the blade,
Blue control is prop. We left it full fwd the whole time when I flew it, except for engine shut down.
Absolutely fuckin gorgeous!!!
Full flap takeoff?
Ironically, jet fuel is cheaper than avgas. So, Cessna Caravan or Beechcraft Baron?
depends on the weight.
@TheProPilot100 Controls the speed of the propellor.
amazing video :D shame you had to jump out it :( (I saw your skydiver comment)
Badass
@SevinSyn Oh, well, that would explain why he skipped that step, huh?
@skydive911
Sorry maar je hebt niet gelijk. Bij sd feathered klopt maar voor su moet ie weer naar voren. Je bent in de war met reverse. Die mag niet gebruikt worden bij engine stil.
Groetjes.
More flaps, and yes, and temperature, and season.
@TheProPilot100 Yess it is
@TheProPilot100 yes it is!
whats ierplane
@sixstringfretter LMAO!! The caravan doesnt have a retractable landing gear. Its fixed.
@TheProPilot100 Yes it is
How long does it take too learn how too fly this Airplane?
5 hours
Arjen Vos What type of aircraft you need too learn in before learning how too fly the caravan
Jeffrey Kumjian MTOW's under 12,000 so no type rating. You just need a license.
Warp Speed!
@ winnipegfiredep it was taken by skydiverotterdam at rotterdam airport Netherlands
@TheProPilot100 it the proper..
@TheProPilot100 as much as i know i could tell its Prop control.. not sure really.. :D
@TheProPilot100 it is
Did he take off with 20 Percent flaps anyone? I thought the norm was 10.
@deadreaver2
idd filmpje is van Rotterdam
@TheProPilot100
I don't know. Sorry. I am a skydiver.
I thought a Grand Caravan was a Dodge
Of course, I also thought a Citation was a Chevy.
Shows you what I know, doesn't it?
Aren't you glad I'm not a pilot?
You're right about those cars though.
@TheProPilot100 Controls RPM
hé starts the plane with the generator switch on , mm wierd.seem like the electric started has a long life to live , olso setting the aux fuel pump to on while the fuel leveler is on cut. seem like the pump is going to have a long life. and setting the fuel leveler on 100 percent on takeoff , wow that jet engine has to swalow it. but then after take off hé lowers the throttle and the prop pitch . i realy dont understand.
He forgot to retract the landing gear.
@neilypilot sorry, i had a oneway ticket to 12000ft
:-)
it would be nice but you can't fly this with a PPL , you need an ATP license because it weight more than 12.500 Lbs .
Gross is just 8,000. So i believe you can actually fly with a PPL
What are you waring!! HAHA just jokin!
yeah....checklists are over rated anyway
