Authentic "The Rock Show" van - Walk around and interior look

"Yes, this is THE EXACT VAN that was used in the blink-182 music video for the song “The Rock Show”. And yes, I had the opportunity to purchase it, and yes, I ultimately passed on it. Here is the story.
A few years ago I saw that this van still existed. I went to follow up to see what happened with it and didn’t find any new info. I did a bit of detective work myself and tracked down the current owner. After speaking with him, we agreed to meet ao that I could potentially purchase the van upon inspection (with the goal of restoring it). I flew to CA and saw the van in person for the first time. From 20ft away (and in pictures) it doesn’t look awful. From a body/front end perspective it could be saved for sure. But after restoring a classic car before, I knew I needed to look deeper.
This van was in ROUGH shape. Engine is shot, the back door has two 4” gaps that let everything and anything inside for the past 20 years that it sat outside (uncovered). The interior is completely roached and covered in dirt, mold, and who knows what else. The wires and dash are a complete rats nest (figuratively and literally). It’s missing door handles, speakers, emblems, mirrors, paneling and about 50 other things. The trim and weather stripping are cracked or missing every inch (or less). The only straight body panel is the two back sides of the vehicle where the “blink-182” decals once were. The roof was completely caved in from production (standing and skating on it 😂) but unfortunately that pushed every support rib in the opposite direction and separated it from the roof metal.
The plan was to restore this thing, bring it back to its ‘01 glory days and share it with the world, but I really needed to consider if that was a realistic goal… and it is not. It really needs a FULL frame off restoration and nearly every little thing you can imagine replaced. 20 years of sitting outside, uncovered, and neglected just took too much of a toll out on this old van"

in this state you would have to build basically whole new car, I agree it is not worth it, but it is great find and it is good we have it on the video
