    Just purchased. My car has been in Toyota for years. They replaced ecu. I asked if it was cam position sensor as this matched my symptoms. Manager said no. I picked my car up after service and mot. After a day car cut out. Start up erratic. My friend said it sounded like cam position sensor.
    I bought this obd2 reader. I paid 21 from argos. Engine management light isn't on on my car and fault intermittent. Plugged in. To my amazement it told me code and that it was cam position sensor port 1. Or whole circuit. After 2 years... I am impressed and amazed and impressed. Will stay in glove box. In case I need to call rac. Brilliant bit of kit.

    This OBD monitor has saved me £30 a pop for scan code and reset at Garage. For the vin code only get arrows but may not know how to read it. Brilliant for erasing overboost code prior to MOT.

    Looks ideal for keeping in my VW Transporter. The EML is a pain on these vans, always coming on when I'm working miles from home, very worrying when you've no idea what's wrong.

    When you said EML light on a Sandaro knew straight away 02 sensor. Common enough with that engine also occurs with the Clio. Good review on a handy bit of kit to have the car

      It's a great way to test your "extended warranty" that's for sure... 🤪 So the bit of the story I missed... electrics are covered, but the exhaust isnt... which is fair enough, but which side of that fence do you think Dacia believe a lambda sensor is? 🤣🙄

    • @Chris_8270
      @Chris_8270 4 роки тому

      @@DetailingandtheBeast At least you've electrics covered, they can give trouble with the ignition switch sticking and burning out the starter. You'd imagine it would be covered under electrical but knowing how manufacturers work, they like to weasel their way out of covering something 😂

    5 of those were the cheaper ones off Ebay but then was told the Xtrons BT obd would work and thats around £20 inclusive of postage

      As a mechanic i can tell everyone that in the video he states cars after 96 OBD compliant vehicles, actually thats not completely true it depends on the protocol that the vehicle runs. I have 2 holden vectras one a 98 model and a 2000 model and have tryed at least 6 code readers from the cheapest to the more expensive and not one will comunicate with either vehicle. I also have a 2003 vectra and the cheap code reader does comunicate with it. So it depends on your vehicles age and where it was manufactured.

      @@brendonwhite2382 i must agree with you, as i have just bought a similar streetwize job for my 2001 vauxhall astra.
      MIL on, but it didn't pick up on a code, wasn't even aware the MIL was on.
      but, the car was later tested with pro kit, and that didn't quite pick up the issue either.
      it does seem to be a bit of a grey aera time wise on vauxhall/opel/holden vehicles.
      i'm going to try the reader on the mrs's clio later to see if that throws up anything i didn't know.

    I like the device, looks like a good tool for the very small cost, but what you were saying if I'm not mistaken is that you found a code, you diagnosed the fault, you then didn't believe the reader so went to Google, tried a few things that you found on line that didn't work then took it to the garage anyway. Would it not have been quicker to either just change the sensor to start with and save yourself a boat load of time, my time is too valuable to me so messing about like this would not be cost effective, I would have just bought a sensor and changed it. But then you said it was under warranty so why even bother buying the tool in the first place when you took it to the garage in any case. Good review of the tool but it did not show if the tool was effective as it looks like you suggest you didn't believe the tool anyway although at the end the garage Verified the tool was accurate. Sorry, just saying.
