    Excellent video. Great help to me in fixing my daughter's Cruze. I would just suggest checking the distance between the bushing and alternator frame and comparing it to the old alternator. The new one gave me 2mm extra clearance. The tensioner had too much spring pressure. I had to clamp it with a 6" clamp and use a pry bar to line up the top bolt hole.
    Also, check the alternator before you leave the store. AZ gave me one with five ribs and six grooves. I needed four ribs and five grooves.
    Thank you very much for posting the video, C-Top. It was tremendously helpful.

    THANK YOU! If it weren’t for you mentioning the smart method to reinstall the spring tensioner pulley, I would have given up tonight! You’re video has saved me well over $600 that I would have had to pay to Firestone!

    My car is a Sonic, but the principle is the same. You are the only one to show how the electrical connections unhook. The Sonic doesn't have to remove the motor mount and the tensioner.

    That's the shittiest design to replace that alternator. It should be a 10 minute job from pulled to replaced like in my avalanche but they put that damn spring in front of the bolt intentionally so you have to go to the dealer. My friend has this car and glad I didn't buy one.

    Thx for the vid, I got something squealing on the belt side and I think its the alternator. Only happens when engine is cold. I took belt off and can hear it when turning the pulley by hand a bit.

      If you hear something when turning the pulley then the bearings probably going to go bad.

    hey, I got a 2013 chevy Cruze and I've had the battery drain to where it won't start so I replaced the battery; but something is still draining the new one. I feel like it might be the alternator. any insight on this?

    • @Repairsbyctop
      @Repairsbyctop  5 років тому

      sparkalark
      Most likely if it’s not charging it.
      Jump start it. And if your battery light is on while the engine is running more than likely the alternator is bad.

    My 11 Chevy Cruze has a no crank no start. On the dash it says service charging system. The battery and starter are both brand new. Could it be the alternator or is there something else that could prevent it from starting? @CT

    • @Repairsbyctop
      @Repairsbyctop  5 років тому +1

      demmoy graham
      A no crank with a good battery and starter could be a connection problem, bad starter relay, bad ignition switch or something.
      The alternator has nothing to do with a no crank.

    You have to make sure you’re using the correct coolant, and also check the tank too. The pieces the go inside the hoses can degrade and contribute to over heating problems.
